Updated Palo Menu

This is terrible news…many times especially on longer cruises reservations would go unused..this certainly will not help…I hope they don’t ruin brunch too

we are on the Maiden of the Wish but….these changes makes my DH not want to sail Disney anymore

So I am confused I watched the brunch on you tube. It looked like there was a mini buffet to choose from.... is that no longer happening??? I was planning o booking on our Fantasy and Wish cruise because our daughter just turned 18 and this will be the first time we can go all together.

I didn’t always bother going to the free dinner at Palo anyway but if I did apart from the chocolate soufflé nothing else that I used to choose is on their prix fixe menu.
On my next cruise I’m doing brunch only. However, if I do go in the evening again I might just choose the steak and soufflé.
I’m not sure that I’d want a whole extra up charge as whilst I enjoy the food I can eat in just as nice places back home. I wonder how busy it will be now?

OK, wasn't a $45 per person charge with Platinum CC members getting a free dinner for everyone in their stateroom. But now Platinum will only get the $45 prix fixe limited menu to choose from? Translation, DCL saying to Platinum members that they don't value their business anymore?

Not exactly devil's advocate here, but I'm just wondering since I've only had dinner at Palo a few times: what's missing? I'm not saying you're wrong, so please be gentle & just tell me- it's a real question. I guess I can't see it because my favorite items- the chocolate souffle and the steak- are still there.

This is terrible - just charge me more and let me order like before. The fixed price menu is so bland, it might as well be main dining. The food is not "that" much better than main dining - it was the overall experience that was special. Looks like Remy will be seeing more of us on future cruises. I hope at least brunch remains the same.

Ditto, understand may have someone serving the buffet stations, but wouldn’t be surprised to see them get turned into a family style plate brought to the table ….

Well that would cut out brunch for us as well. None of us eat the same things and there is so much VARIETY on the Palo buffet. I sure hope DCL re-thinks these changes. Dining is very important to us when we cruise.

So, pricing that out it's $42. If you have the antipasto (assume two people) that would add $11, and you're over the $45 "credit" for Platinum. This assumes the 6oz steak. The 8oz steak adds $7. If you have the 8oz steak you're over $45 even without the antipasto.

To me it's not really the cost. It's the continuous erosion of Platinum, and castaway benefits.

Yeah, I'm out. Just cancelled Palo Dinner reservations. Will stick with Palo Brunch and maybe sprinkle in a trip to Remy. But the set menu is incredibly uninspired. Too bad they made this change as it really seems to take away from what has been special about Palo.

agree, I leave my typical eating habits “on-shore”, so when I allow myself to indulge I like choices and quality ….

I'm surprise about this change.

To be honest, my husband and I would be fine with it. But we're Platinum and we generally don't eat all 4 courses anyway. Our server has always tried to get us to try more food. We've always liked the options, but it was just too much food.

But I can imagine a lot of people won't be happy about it.

On all our past experiences with palo when we couldn’t decide what dish we wanted our waiter would offer half portions so we could try a little bit of everything. It was so nice to have a nice night out and not worry about the pricing and you could try something you normally wouldn’t. Same thing for the main dining rooms, our kids have become adventurous eaters due to cruising and being able to try different foods.

I noticed the same thing!!!

I’d like to see the official DCL wording regarding the complementary Palo dinner for Platinum loyalty cruisers.

On several unofficial websites, it is phrased, “Platinum Castaway Club members and those adults in their stateroom will continue to be offered one complimentary meal at Palo, either brunch or dinner; at dinner, the prix fixe menu will be included (regular price of $45 per person). Additional items beyond the prix fixe menu may be added at an additional charge.” (wdwnt, Disneycruiselineblog).

I read that as - you get the prix fixe meal. Anything else is extra - not that we can pick and choose and get the first $45 of items complementary. I would like that to be the case. The prix fixe reduces me to steak and soufflé. Bye, bye, white bean soup. And no antipasto cart?

It seems a good way to reduce Platinum cruisers from filling up the restaurant, thus allowing paying customers a chance to dine. Or we just continue to go, eat our filet and soufflé, still locking out revenue-earning diners.
