Updated Palo Menu

Perhaps it's just for UK Staycation cruises. They may change once cruising starts regularly. I think there's a lot of temporary changes going on.

I prefer the Palo dinner, but I know the Brunch is more popular because of its buffet....so I would think DCL would find a way to bring some of the concept back.
I've sailed before where they've converted the brunch into a waiter serve option. We just point to the items we want and they put it on our plate.

But getting rid of all of the food on the buffet completely, that just turns a spectacular brunch into an ok ho-hum meal. Don't get me wrong the chicken parmesan on the buffet is to die for, but that alone does not justify the cost.

Honestly, I don't mind a full service offering at Palo with all of the food brought to you instead of a physical buffet. Do I PREFER the buffet? Yes. Is it a deal breaker like the "a la carte" set up for dinner? No.

I certainly will miss the buffet (where are the warm sticky buns?!?) but I will be OK with this understanding the situation around COVID, I would imagine the buffet will be back eventually…..

I've only done dinner and was planning to do brunch on my next cruise. I may give this a try as long as it doesn't move to an a la carte. I wonder if the mimosas are unlimited

I was looking for those too! I didn't see them. They are some of my Favorites!

Sadly no, they were like... 5 bucks each and one is included in the cost of the meal. I'm sure they've raised that price though.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind Palo Brunch not being a buffet. (Everything I like is available.) Maybe it’s just me but it feels more like luxury if I don’t have to get up to pick up my food.

Are we allowed to order more of the antipasti?

My waiter offered to bring items back from the buffet for me. I felt like royalty. 🤣

I feel like the brunch buffet will come back at some point as it is such a major highlight for so many people.

Ugh. Last thing I want to do is bring my phone to a cruise ship restaurant.

You will have to now, as all restaurants and bars have a QR code to scan for the menu, yes even the drinks in bars. In all 3 MDR restaurants there are QR codes on the table for the menus.

Knowing I can get the pizza and some extra items at Brunch, will allow me to skip them at dinner …. so there is that ….. hopefully they don’t pick up on that and make the Brunch a la Carte too

What is in place for people without a smart phone? I didn't have one on my last cruise so had to ask for the paper navigators instead of using the app. I wondered what would happen if they didn't offer the paper one at all anymore.... now I'm wondering about this menu thing. Does anyone know? I know "most" people now have a smart phone, but I know people who do not.

I don't see a scenario where they would stop offering a paper menu as a backup. What would they do if the wifi went down?

On the Staycation info it mentioned going to guest services to request paper menus if it was an issue. I would assume therefore you would need to do this before going to dinner. I'm sailing in August and will need paper menus as I have an eye condition which makes reading off an iphone too difficult so I will be finding out

oh, thank you for this information!

I've decided I'm still not bringing it. My kids and my husband bring theirs to communicate and I'm always with one of them...so I'll just share the menu with them. I don't like bringing anything with me...I don't even like the lanyard with my keycard.

Before this QR code popped up in restaurants, our family rule was no phone during meals...so this was annoying to say the least....but we tweaked the rule to being able to use the phone until we place the order. Then it's put away.

I think people would need to get used to it. We've gone to restaurants where this is the norm and until people see it as common thing, it's still a bit strange. The first time we saw QR code on the table was over a year before the pandemic started...we weren't sure what it was until our kids said, just scan it with our phone...then after that, it wasn't really strange.

However, I do feel it takes away the "fine dining" aspect if you have to scan a code for the menu. But that's just me. I think this will be a common thing everywhere. We've only seen it in restaurants with bars so, in my view, it fits the atmosphere.

I agree, I hope this goes away soon. I don’t want to be encouraged to look at my phone at a table at a restaurant. I try to put mine on Do Not Disturb and away …..

I don't mind it at all, but my parents really struggled with it on our trip to Disneyland last week. My Dad's phone is an iPhone 5; its slow, its tiny.. he couldnt read off it. My Mom wasn't quick enough to click the link after scanning. Mostly I used mine and we passed it around the table. Plus mobile ordering? Yikes. I did that 100% of the time for them and switching back and forth between our credit cards was a pain in the neck.
