UPDATED: New Discount Being Released 12-21

I sure hope they run this promotion in the second half of the year too. Would love to take my grandson back and do some Christmas shopping:banana::banana:

After crunching numbers all week, I finally called and changed our package to a split stay this morning. This is how it worked out for us, in case anyone else wants to try for a better deal. For my family, with the 30% off pincode, we were paying $3057 for 7 nights at POR, with 7 days base tickets and QSDP. And I was paying for TRex and a Chef Mickey's breakfast oop. I changed it to:

5 nights at POR with the new gift card offer and the regular dining plan and 5 day base tickets: $2957
2 nights at POR with my 30%: $303.19, with $175 paid as the deposit (shouldn't have been quite that much, but the cm messed up at 1st and we just left that amt).
So my total for the 7 nights is 3132 (just counting my deposit on the room only portion).....

So I paid $75 more for the new deal, but I get a $500 gift card! When I check in and get the card, I'll upgrade the tickets to 7 days, pay off the room only portion of my stay, and pay tips to all the full service restaurants with the card! I should still have enough money on the gift card, and my Disney rewards card to pay for TRex, and CS meals for the last couple of days without the dining plan. Since I was paying for a character meal oop in the original plan, I'll actually be about $50 better off this way, and we'll get to eat at our favorite places!

I booked 5 day base tickets, and was told during an online chat and by the cm on the phone that I could use the gift card to upgrade once there!

This is what we are doing too. It will require a split stay, but will save us $300-$500 depending on where we stay. We would save the most at a mod like POR, but only $245 per room over the 30% deal (we are getting two rooms.) It looks like you are saving $425 over the 30% deal. Is that just on one room? We will be going the same amount of days and I would love to save $425 per room over the 30% deal. I wonder if I am doing something wrong?

Can you upgrade to a better view at check-in? If so, could that be paid for with the gift card?

I'm wondering if we can book the standard view at AKL and then upgrade to the savannah view upon check-in, then pay the bill with our gift card.

Not sure how that works, any thoughts?

1 room with 5 paying guests (plus a baby). But you have to remember I *worked* the math!:teacher: I dropped from 7 day tickets to 5 day (will add 2 days with the gc when we get there). I also dropped from 7 days on QSDP to 5 days on DDP. I will pay for the extra meals with the gc. And that amount is only counting the deposit for the room only portion-I will pay off that ressie with the gc as well. That will leave me about $150 on the card to pay tips, etc. So I probably won't *save* much , but I upgraded to the regular dining plan, and won't have to pay any dining tips oop!

Between the gift card and my Disney Visa Rewards Card, I don't expect to spend a dime after my package is paid off!!!!!

I called today to make sure they had my gift card on file since I was getting a little nervous about it. I didn't want them to run out, and then tell me mine was never put into the system. A couple hours later I got an email talking about my reservation, and to click on a link for details. OMG at the details, lol. I had no idea I was getting so much stuff. Anyway, it has the gift card in it now. I don't think I would've gotten this email without calling. So I'm glad I did. Now I feel much better. OH! the email says you HAVE to bring the confirmation paperwork (link to page in email) at checkin in order to get your gift card. So those who haven't gotten this email, CALL! Or you might have an argument, or a mess waiting on you at checkin. Just FYI. :)

I have been worrying about this all day! I got a new confirmation, but there is nothing to click on, and no mention of the gift card! I was planning to call tomorrow morning and double check, and now I definitely will! I would feel like a complete idiot if I gave up my 30% off pin for the gift card, and then no gift card was waiting for me at check in!!!!!

****I just went back and re-read some of the older threads, and saw that others are stressing over no gift card confirmation, too. Mine also shows "error" instead of some of my info. I want to see my details in writing!!!!

Hmmm...maybe it is because you are comparing full package to full package. I don't think I caught that the first read. I'm trying to keep the math simple for us by comparing just the room-only discount of 30% ($255 on 5 nights at a mod, standard view) to the GC offer. I'm not even throwing tix into the equation since we all need tix and will be paying full price (or close enough to full price) either way.

Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a way to save even more! :rotfl:

It's interesting how different CMs give different answers. I was stressing over this too, so I called today. He told me the gift card is indeed attached to my reservation, but that I wouldn't receive a special email or link to be able to see it listed in my reservation. When we arrive, we will receive the gift card at check-in. The only way you would be able to see that there is a giftcard on the reservation is in the coding, and he said that code is OVQ (which I don't now if that is my personal one or the generic one). So...I guess I'm covered...

I finally got a print out email - but it took 4 calls and being hung up on 2 times and one who argued with me over my email address to finally get it.

I don't have that same code on mine - but in the print out with all the extras etc it does say $750 gift card - so I can relax now.

my CM tried to tell me that too, that I wasn't supposed to have an email. yet when I called on the 22nd to add it, she said to verify my email address because they would send me a confirmation email. well it never came, and I got worried and called back. the CM I got on Monday argued with me that I wouldn't get an email...but lo and behold when I got off the phone with her...there was my email. so....I'd definitely call, and call until I got my email. the link that takes me to my details page says you have to print out the confirmation page in order to get your gift card. in fine print of course. :)

Okay, my TA was able to get me the $300 gc, we arrive on 3/26 and depart on 4/5. So even though our dates fell in the blackout period, our arrival date was before that and they gave it to us. I have confirmation with it all spelled out from Disney so apparently if your arrival falls within the dates, you are set! I am so happy, $300 is something and will be very helpful. This also seals the deal we will not do the QSDP, it was not going to save us much anyway and we probably would have been eating more than we wanted anyway. Now we can just use the gc towards meals.

Yeah!! I hope this works for me too! We are not wanting to pull DD out of school so are stuck with going on Spring Break week (better than not going at all!). We will also be arriving on 3/26 and staying for 9 nights so my arrival date is BEFORE the blackout date. I am going to call first thing in the morning and hope to get the $500 gift card added!!

My guess is that you can because this will be a new charge and you can pay your room bill with a giftcard. I have never asked for a room upgrade to pay for so I don't know for sure. (I have rec'd a free upgrade a few times though, on our last trip to ASMu we had 1 preferred and 1 standard room, they gave us 2 preferred without asking and connecting!, at WL we booked a regular and got courtyard view of the pool!, at POFQ we had a split stay 3 nights regular and three pool and got all pool!) That's about all my experience with upgrades and all were without asking. I see no problem with paying!! Maybe you will get lucky and get a free one!!

I got the same answer. The CM was very nice, and said that my code is correct for the giftcard. She said I wouldn't need to bring anything with me to get it, and that she was noting on the reservation that I called and she verified the gift card for me.
