Updated list of Refurbs for 2014

If they announce the Electrical Light Parade is coming back, I will jump up and down for joy! My kids have never seen it.........I have such wonderful memories as a child watching it. Would be amazing to experience again with my kids!

Oh heck no. With DH's 2 favorite rides being down, DS's favorite down.... something like this would send DH off the deep end. Lol. He loves those things so much that he said one time if he won the lottery that he would fly down there JUST for them.

Soaring over califnia was supposed to down this past week but then they changed it and only had on side closed the line was 30-40 minutes and the fast pass line was closed on Wednesday when we tried to go in. We did ride Monday with a fast pass though

I read earlier this week that they were shutting down one screen at a time for a regular refurb and the extended HD upgrade had been postponed due to a problem with the new projectors.

Where is that at? I'm not sure I could convince him to go to a different place for them or not... even if they are the same. He is strange about that kind of stufff. It has to be from the original place. His favorite pizza place has 2 locations near us. He will only go to the older run down one. He says its better because its the origninal and its worn in.

Thanks I was wondering also. I thought they just did a refurb on Matterhorn not to long ago??!! That will be down while we are there and we have never rode it

This one is probably to satisfy osha which came down after it reopened. It's why btmrr got delayed, and why splash, Alice, iasw, etc also had to get some extensive refurbs along with the upcoming sm refurb.

maybe this is a stupid question but where do I find an official list on refurbs/closures? I've searched the Disney site and find nothing...
we are going June 23-July 2 and want to plan our 5 park days accordingly if there are any major closures

Go to the disneyland website and under "parks and tickets" click the "maps" link. Zoom in and you will see stars near attractions. Click one, and if a refurb is scheduled, the dates will be listed. The Matterhorn would be a good example to start with since it is scheduled to be down.

There was an article on Micechat on March 28 with info on the closures. We'll be there Apr 12-19 and I'm so disappointed at how many things will be closed during one of the busiest weeks of the year:

Nemo Subs closed January 5, 2014 to September 26, 2014
The Little Mermaid closed March 20, 2014 to May 9, 2014
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail closed January 6, 2014 to April 20, 2014
It’s Tough to be a Bug closed March 31, 2014 to April 18, 2014


Beyond that week:
It's A Small World closed through April 9, 2014. It will then reopen then close again April 21, 2014 to May 29, 2014
Grizzly River Run closed April 21, 2014 to June 19, 2014
King Arthur Carousel closed April 28, 2014 to May 8, 2014
Pirates of the Caribbean closed April 28, 2014 to May 22, 2014

Great link, thanks! Though it didn't have the Redwood closure info (which is a REALLY important attraction for our family). And to update the Matterhorn refurb info:

On a Mice Age forum, someone posted that they emailed Disneyland to ask about the Matterhorn refurb, and this is the reply they said they received: "You may be pleased to know that the original project dates in May have been changed to 8/25/14 - 11/13/14. Please note all information is subject to change without notice and should be confirmed just prior to your visit."

Aaaannnnd, Gadget's Go Go Coaster has just shown up on the list for the time that we will be there (April 29th through May 4th).

This one hurts us because my DS4 is just about at 40 inches, but we aren't entirely sure that he will be over with his shoes on, and I've been telling him the whole time that even if he can't ride the bigger coasters, he can always ride Gadget's coaster, and have even shown him youtube videos of it to get him exited about the upcoming trip.

The other refurbs I was aware of, but this one caught me off guard. Sigh.

I just really hope that he measures up for the 40" rides once we get there.

Oh bummer! That list of refurbs is getting really long for the days we'll be there (April 27-May 2) They keep adding to it. I wish they'd remove some sometimes too.

Yep..... Gadget GoCoaster is scheduled to be down April 21st through May 15th.

Okay, seriously? I understand there are a billion things to do and see at Disneyland, but I have two kids 40" and under. We will be there the first week in May with 10 family members. It truly is a once in a lifetime trip for all of us to be there together, but I have been trying to stay reasonable about my disappointment of so much being down. But there are only so many rides my kids can do to begin with due to height. With the current refurb list now, I think, 6 rides they could normally do, we can't do now due to refurbs. I got over Little Mermaid (my dd's fav), I got over Pirates (my dad's fav), Small World (sister's fav), but the coaster is seriously the ONLY RIDE my dd has been wanting to do since we told her Little Mermaid is down. Thunder Mountain is not one she wants to do, but GoGo was perfect. I am so upset. I get it, there is a ton of stuff to do, there are bigger issues in the world, but considering how much we are spending on this trip, and my kids will likely never have the chance to ride any of these rides with their grandparents, aunt, or cousins ever again, I am just heartbroken.
