Updated list of Refurbs for 2014

Time to throw Big Thunder Mountain Railroad back on the refurbishment list... well past the whole month of February and entering March. No information on WHEN in March they plan to re-open... if at all.

Noooooooooooooooo. Huge bummer.

BTR has been closed the last 5 trips I've made to DL. Yeah, I'm lucky I get to go 4 times a year... But still, I'm so very annoyed. I've seen high rise hotels built in less time.

BTMRR on Disney's web site says "Schedule Unavailable". Anyone know why rumors have it into March? Just word of mouth from CMs?

it's not rumor any longer, it's on Disneys own refurb list on their site under "attractions"

I entered a date in February, and BTMRR is on the "Schedule Unavailable" list. I'm not seeing anything about "Spring" or "well into March".

I can keep my fingers crossed for our 2/26-3/1 trip, no?

Nope. I think it will be down during your trip. :(

It is currently listed as closed from now until the last day currently available on the calendar they post, which is now March 7th... however, I am sure it will go up. The best you can do is hope that they finish early and decided to open it formally or have some soft openings... :confused3

At this point I would uncross your fingers - I am not saying it can't happen for it to be open during that time but it's very unlikely at this point since they have it on the daily scheduled as still being refurbished up to and including March 7th.

At least Indy and Space do not go down until after the end of your trip - so you are on the happy side of the refurb fence according to many!

We are there Feb 28th to March 9th and will be taking full advantage of Space and Indy for the first few days until they are pulled from the lineup.

Everyone is different. My enjoyment comes from watching my children who cannot ride Space or Indy. BTMRR is a huge accomplishment for them, and easily their favorite. So, yeah, for us, its a bigger deal. But she CAN ride Matterhorn, so we'll sub that in on this trip.

I just wanted to say thank you to all that post this kind of info. It really helps with the planning stage.

That is so true - and it changes each trip. Our first year getting my kids to ride BTMRR was an accomplishment as you say, and they wanted nothing to do with Space or Indy. The next year my son wanted to get off Space and head right back into line or at the very least get a FP - it is funny watching them change - what was scary and crazy to them once is not the most fun they have ever had!

They may not like Space, which is it's own story (I have one like that), but just so you know, the height requirement for BTMRR & Space are the same at 40in. Matterhorn, Indy, GSS & Screamin' are the ones with height limits above 40 inches.

ETA: GRR as well (at above 40 inches)

Sadly, I agree with this... not because I want to, but because I seemingly have to. I am really dissapointed as well. But, plan for the worst and hope for the best. Perhaps be pleasantly surprised one day on your trip... but don't bank on it by any means! It happens at WDW more than DLR, though. I hope that when they get BTMRR operating safely, they rush to take down those work walls and thrust into soft openings.

I'm out in Anaheim currently for a convention, and we're debating if we have time to spend a few hours at DL. I was sorely heartbroken to see that the Tiki Juice Bar is closed for renovation. Does anyone know if there's an alternate place to buy Dole Whip?

Sadly, no. I know this won't help you now, but it is good to know. If you ever find yourself out at Walt Disney World, they do have two locations you can get a Dole Whip. Aloha Isle in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian Resort. Personally, I think they should bring the Dole Whip to the Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam's at the Disneyland Hotel. That'd fit in great with the polynesian theme out there!

Afraid not. But.....a most fun alternative, in my opinion, is the menu at Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar in DTD. It's close to the Disneyland Hotel. Tangaroa Terrace is next to Trader Sams. Both venues are wonderful for atmosphere, theming and decor. As well as menu selection for both libations and dining.
Have an awesome visit today at DLR.

The reason Thunder is down because my team wasn't involved... Just sayin'

The interactive map now lists BTMRR as being down thru March 31st.
