UPDATED: IT'S HAPPENING!! Star Wars, Toy Story officially coming to DHS! Plus new Soarin'!

Here's roughly 14 acres.

This really puts Muppets in more jeopardy than I thought...

I'm so happy I have a board like this to be excited with, I posted it on Facebook and my friends are pretty much "who cares?" :rotfl::rotfl:

Wait til I tell them later that I was about crying when they announced it, they'll have me committed!

I know how you feel. I couldn't believe that I found myself crying during the Force Awakens preview during Celebration. I was watching the live stream from home. When I read about Star Wars Land, I yelled Yes! DH asked what was happening. He understands and is somewhat excited.

Thank so much for this... so sad to see the Osborne Lights just totally gone like that. Such a great area even when they're not up. But lord knows DHS needs it.

I am SO excited. Even though I assumed it was happening with so many rumors out. I am not sure my nerves can handle three years though! Or, heaven forbid 4.

Eh, still hoping for Pixar stuff. Couldn't care less about Star Wars.

I agree. Unless the Pixar stuff is mindblowingly awesome, this just cemented that I will not be stepping foot in DHS ever again. There was little enough there to interest me as it was. For a non-fan of Star Wars, seeing that much of the park overrun with it just makes me want to go anywhere else BUT there. :(

I'll still go for Toy Story, maybe Muppets, ToT, and One Man's Dream (if it survives), too ... but I doubt I'll ever spend more than two or three hours per trip in HS or whatever name they decide to throw at it.

This picture is just from a fan to help everyone see how big a land they are talking about. It is NOT the official plot designated by Disney.

I'll never understand this line of thinking. I didn't even see Avatar, no interest at all, but I'm over the moon about Pandora opening! It's going to be spectacular.

Being a fan of the Disney Parks is in part being a fan of the details, the wonder, the scale, the total immersion in a different, make believe world - how can you not want to see that? It's what Disney does so well. It is Disney! :):worship:

Absolutely, I TOTALLY get that. I just am seeing it so close to Star Tours... Unless they moved Star Tours, it's really hard to see how they could construct a land that wouldn't eliminate the Streets of America.

But if they tunnel under that car entry plaza, or move the plaza just a bit further south, there's a lot more room without cutting too much into the existing attractions area.

Because for me that is not Star Wars. I NEVER liked it and was forced to see the initial three movies. I saw them and I got over them realizing that they are *gasp* JUST MOVIES! (Yes, I said it. Sorry, not sorry.) It did not create a world that I ever want to set foot in. Period.

I am a fan of DISNEY. I don't care how many mergers they have, TO ME Star Wars will never fit in with DISNEY. My opinion and I am entitled to it.

Besides, why should you people complain? That's one more FP+ and one less person in the park. :P

That having been said, they did say that Disneyland was getting 14 acres. Maybe DHS will be smaller and go in the other direction (e.g. over Indy)

That's true. And I did read the speculation about how they had purchased more land a little while ago (to preserve, theoretically, somewhere on the upper perimeter of the property) so that they could develop more of the preserved land that was surrounding the Studios.

That's exactly how I feel about them. Same with Avatar, Star Trek, LotR, HP, etc. etc.

But that won't diminish my enjoyment of a well-executed, imaginative re-creation of the environments portrayed in those movies. Key word being "imaginative." IOW, "Soarin' over Pandora" (or Kashyyk) isn't really going to satisfy my theme-park expectations from Disney...neither would "It's a Small Empire" (referring to a boat ride passing dioramas of Coruscant).
