UPDATED!!! Gmax THRILLING September Adventure! Featuring LOTS of DISers!

Hey, how are ya'? do ya' need some AL gas? ;) :rotfl2: I heard from my sis that it is pretty rough over there. No gas, and when you do find it, there is a long line to get it. :sad2:

Did you do the Expedition Everest challenge this weekend? How was it? You can answer in a PM, so as to not tie up Glenda's TR.

Sorry to hijack Glenda.

Day 6 - The Evening

On Thursday afternoon, I returned to our room triumphant! For I'd finally faced my fear and rode Splash Mountain! I also returned with a developing cold sore on the right corner of my mouth. CARP! So I had to by some over- priced campho phenique from AKL's gift shop. Believe me, I did try to keep my hands CLEAN and away from my face - but I guess some things are bound to happen. So needless to say, as my pride grew that day, SO DID THE COLD SORE! UGHHHH!

That evening, we were going to EPCOT's World Showcase, since this was deemed a good day to go on touringplans. As we rested in the room, I got a call from DISer Antss. She told me that she'd gotten in touch with DISer Klofan, and that he was planning on going to Magic Kingdom (MK) that evening. CARP! I hadn't seen Klofan that WHOLE week. Some of you may remember that we met in December at the Christmas Party.

phpMYHIyMAM.jpg

So now I had a choice to make: Go to the World Showcase, since I didnt get a chance to visit it the last time I was there, OR go back to Magic Kingdom.
I asked my Mother what she wanted to do. She said that she wouldn't mind going back to MK, and that it was up to me. Well, after such a SAD departure moments earlier, I HAD to pick MK! I had to see it one more time, AND I had to see Klofan!

Today we did not have a dinner reservation, so we decided to eat dinner at Columbia Harbor House at MK. While we were waiting for the bus, it started to rain. Then when the bus arrived, everyone who got off looked wet and tired. I looked at my Mother and asked if we should just turn around and go back to the room. She said no, that we should head out, and if it's still raining when we get there, we could turn around and come back.

After we boarded the bus, the rain started comming down in SHEETS! I was sooooo sad. But yet I put on my TinkerBell baseball cap, and my rain poncho, with the hood covering the hat. We bravely got off the bus, and headed into the park.

My Mother's rain poncho was defective, so we headed into one of the shops on Main Street to buy an overpriced WDW poncho for her. While inside the shop, teeming with wet guests, we bumped into DISer PennConn and his BF. They were buying matching baseball caps insted of Ponchos for the rain! He told me that afterwards, they were heading to Columbia Harbor House for dinner. What a coincidence!

On the way over, my Mother loaned them her umbrella, and we braved the rain once again! When we got there. DISer Kat was there, and waiting for Antss to show up. We called Antss to see how close she was to getting there, then ordered our food and got a table. I ordered the Chicken Breast Nuggets & Fish and French fries - $8.19. It was just okay. I think this is the only meal that disappointed me.

Soon Antss joined us. She wasnt hungry, and just hung out with us while we ate. We decided to go to the Haunted Mansion afterwards, where I would be meeting Klofan! Fortunantly, it had stopped raining by the time we went outside!!!! I am soooo glad that my Mother suggested that we keep going!

IMG_3273.jpg

While standing outside of the HM, I called klofan to find out where he was. Well, he was stuck on Small World! By the time I called, the boat had just started moving again. PennConn and his BF decided to ride HM while the rest of us waited for Klofan. As we were standing around, they were all chatting, so I figured that this would be a good time to discretely apply my OVER-PRICED cold sore medicine. With compact in one hand, medicine in the other, and mouth stretched at an odd angle, I hear, "She doesn't even see me". I slowly turn around, and there's Klofan and his friend Kristen smiling and waving. What a stellar moment for me - NOT!

IMG_3272.jpg

Well, neither of them seemed to notice (or smell) the medicine that I was putting on! They were excited that we were finally meeting up again! So soon, we were happily in line for the Haunted Mansion! I think ALL of us love this ride!

Afterwards, talking a mile a minute, we walked over to Thunder Mountain! As you know, this is MUCH better at night! When we got off, I THINK we were supposed to head over towards Main Street to see Spectro. But realizing that these were our first, and last moments together, we skipped it. For Klofan declared, "We HAVE to get Gmax on Space Mountain"!!!! HUH? These people are CRAZY, I'd already hit my thrill-ride quota! But time was "awasting". The park would be closing soon.

So what happened folks? I found myself following FOUR Internet Strangers to die in a space-like enviroment. We dropped my Mother off to see the parade, and was going to meet her, and PennConn afterwards for Spectro. Sadly, I gave my Mother my bag, and wished me a good time as I headed off with these STRANGERS!

Fortunantly, the line was non-exsistant. So I didnt have time for my stomach to hurt while thinking about what was about to happen. Since the seats are back-to-back, I made them promise to put me in the middle of two of them. I did NOT want to be in the front, nor the back. Before I knew it, I was squeezing my 6 Foot Long body, down into a car made for midgets! When I was in there, my knees were so high, that I felt like I was on a Lifetime show about giving birth!

Soon we were off. I PANICKED when my safety bar MOVED! They told me that soon it would click into place. It did. When the car started through a light-tunnel, I was thinking, "OH JESUS". But then I realized I was saying it OUT LOUD! HA! Soon we were engulfed in darkness while the Internet Strangers were laughing, giggling and cheering. The car picked up speed, and we were in space! I think I screamed/giggled the whole time.

Now, for those of you who are like me, and scared to drop, I will tell you the ABSOLUTE truth about this ride. If you like riding Thunder Mountain at night, you WILL like this! There were no drops - there were no "Oh my God why did I get on this" moments. It was like Thunder Mountain, but faster, and darker. That's it! Yes, I faced TWO of my fears in one day, and they both turned out to NOT be a big deal. In fact, what everyone was telling me is true, Expedition Everest is waaaaaaay more intense than Splash and Space Mountain. And EE is only intense because of the backwards part, because the "drop", banks to the left.

After exiting Space, they decided that they didnt have to see Wishes. Afterall, the park was about to close, and we could squeeze in another ride. We met up with my Mother, and called PennConn to tell him our change of plans. Soon, we were once again leaving my Mother (very content) on a bench, as we headed off. Where did they want to go you ask . . .
SPLASH MOUNTAIN!

We excitedly walked back across the park, to squeeze in Splash before the park closed. See? Splash can't be bad, anytime I volunteered to ride it a second time! All I asked was to not sit in the front, and for the person in front of me to keep their arms down so I could see my face in the pic. After all, you all remember what happend when I rode Tower of Terror last year?

IMG_1636_3.jpg

As we were riding inside the mountain, I remembered to thank God for this evening. Here I was riding something I have been afraid of for YEARS, with people who I now call friends! I would have never guessed that I would be blessed like this!

Like the first time, I made sure that I had my poncho on so I wouldnt get wet. But this time, I wanted to keep my eyes open wide so I could see the view, and where we were going to land in the drop. The end result: I look like the crazy Internet Stranger you hope to never meet, who just happends to be covered in PLASTIC!

And with that, I'll bid you all "Adieus".

Go to Page 15!

You went on Splash!! YAY!!!!

What a great trip you and your mom have had so far....I just love reading all about it!
Hey! We were at Disney the same time last September right? But we missed each other? Glad you could see how brave I was this time!

That is awesome! Good for you for making sure that little child didn't get hurt. That mother has some issues. The rest of the day sounds like so much fun too. Your mother is a hoot!
Thank you! Don't you think I deserve a DIS badge of Honor! HA! Yes, the rest of the day was fun!

I've been saying it - there is just something about THAT MOUSE that contains the answer to world peace and everything else that's wrong in the world. The leaders of the nations around the world need to figure that out - just think of all the money we can all save just by getting along :lmao: . But seriously, isn't it amazing how so many people from everywhere in the world, from all walks of life, can come together with this common thread and not just get along, but in many cases become friends (and like an extended family, thank you very much). There certainly is still magic in the Magic Kingdom, and we all need to take just a touch of it back with us to our "real" worlds. Ya know, I betcha that could make even our everyday lives better.

Loved the pics with you and your mom out front with the pumpkins in the background. Now, on with the show!
Dad, I couldn't have said it better myself. I told my Mother on trip that isnt it funny how much like ME everyone is that we meet - even though they are all different! She just smiled!

And thanks for the words of encouragement about the break-up you gave me earlier!

So glad to hear that you enjoyed the halloween party. I went for the first time last year and loved it. I'm not usually a parade person (other than Spectromagic) and was surprised how much I loved the halloween parade. That song was stuck in my head for days afterwards!

My next trip is going to be next December, so while I can't wait to see the Christmas decorations, I'm a bit dissappointed I'll be missing the halloween stuff!

Believe me, you'll be soooo overwhelled by the Christmas decorations that you'll be in tears! Make sure you go to the Osbourne's Lights! That's a MUST SEE!

Hey, I'm so glad you rode those. Wasn't it fun?

Did you get any more china in England to go with that lovely tag of yours? :rolleyes1

Sorry you didn't get to meet Lan. :guilty:

Loved your pics of the Halloween party. I have never been to one. I am just too cheap to shell out the $$$ to go. Now it's like I went for FREE!!!! ;)
- Yes! I enjoyed everything I rode this time, and would do it again!

- No, I didnt get more China. I need to invest in a China Closet before I buy anymore!

-Yes, I'm sorry about Lan too, but we're gonna try to hook up next year!

you are so brave getting on Splash mountain!!! I am trying to convince myself to ride it when I go..I didn't the last time I went..did you get we at all?
Nope I didnt get wet! Before you get on, don't stand and stare at the drop. For some reason, it really isnt as bad as it looks. My stomach didnt drop!

Gmax ??? Get wet???? Never !!!!! You just have to wait and see !!!!!!!!!
Thanks for scanning the pic and sending it!

Glendamax, you are such a brave solder. First you risk you life by picking up some stranger’s child and placing him in a seat. Then you took flash photos on Snow Whites Scary Adventures and risk getting yelled at by a CM. Then you ride Splash Mountain by yourself (I always have to have someone to hold onto, even a stranger will do).
You’re my Shero (you know like hero)!
Yes, not only am I a full grown woman, but a rebel too! HA!

Glenda - I am so proud of you that you rode Splash Mountain. And to think you would NOT go on it with me in June. And you also rode by yourself. I think you should go ahead and try TOT one more time. You might change your opinion of it.
NO! That is an AWFUL feeling!

Why isn't there a black princess? What is that about?! :confused3
Don't EVEN get me started! At least there's one in production now - Madi. I think she should be out next year. There was a thread about this and it got closed because it got soooo nasty! Hey, I figured the site of me with a big Cinderella on my chest should have caused someone that day to ask why I didnt have a princess that looked like me too!

Loved this update. I really enjoy the way you tell about what you did. Makes is so much fun to read. Glad you conquored Splash Mountain!! I love the theming in that ride! Your mama seems to be having a great time. That is so cool that you two get to travel together like that!

Looking forward to hearing more. :surfweb:

Cathy
Thank you Cathy! I'm glad you enjoy my attempt at being a story-teller!
And believe me, I do realize what a blessing it is for my Mother and I to travel together! I hope we'll have even more adventures together!

I am SO proud of you!!!!

Hopefully Dawn and I were the ones to 'push you over the edge' to ride that ride!!!

Thank you! And yes, you two were essential to getting me to ride it SOLO!

Wait a minute.....I had to check....I am reading a GlendaMax TR, right??? But I've seen riding RnR, EE & now, I've seen Splash Mt!!! Who is this person??? Where's Glenda??? :confused3 :confused3 What has happened to her? :lmao: :rotfl2: You are getting sooooo brave! You even rode Splash by yourself!! :worship: You should be proud! :thumbsup2

HA!!! Yes! It's me! After cutting nearly ALL my hair off, no telling what I'll do next! (I need to put that on a shirt!)

Look at you being so brave!! RnR and Splash.

I really do think that this place has gotten in your head.:rotfl:
Yes it has, in a GREAT way!!!!

----------------------------------------

Thanks again everyone for reading and responding! I'm so glad that I could share the best of times (and the worst of times) with you! This was definetly a BRAVE trip for me!

I should have another installment tomorrow!
:wave2:

WOW! Splash Mountain and Space Mountain? I'm very impressed!

I basically hate roller coasters and wet rides, so both of these are challenging for me. Actually, Space Mountain doesn't bother me nearly as much as other coasters (except that it's so freakin' rough) since it's dark and I can't see how far off the ground I am or what's coming up :lmao: I adore Splash Mountain's story and themeing. I just really wish it didn't have the drop. Somehow, even if nobody else gets wet, I'm totally soaked. :confused3

I hope the rehab of Space Mountain isn't just a rumor--I'd love to ride it again if they make it smoother :goodvibes

I'm trying to think of just the right thing to say here, but right now, words escape me! I know there must be some Psycho music we can add to this to make it more effective! :rotfl:

I'm so glad you went back to Magic Kingdom and met up with all your Dis buddies. I think you ended up having a much more exciting evening there than you would have on a rousing round of Maelstrom if you'd gone on to World Showcase.

You conquered so much on this trip.
Thanks for sharing all the great pictures!

OMG, Glenda. I tried not to laugh. I really did. I am so proud of you but these pics are just too funny!

I'm glad you had a great time - again!! You always entertain us so much with your TRs. Thanks again!!!

Sorry to hijack Glenda.

Excuse us, Glenda :rotfl:

I just went to fill up my tank (5:00am) at a station that I knew would be cheaper than the one closest to me and to give me time to find a station if they were out of gas. I paid $3.97 and the station down the street is $4.39. When I got there they had people waiting, but I was able to get a spot right away. When I left more people were pulling up.

I did particpate in the Expedition Everest Challenge and it was fun. I posted pics on the WISH boards.

I love the Splash Mountain picture. That is priceless.

We WILL have a trip together in 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glenda, I'm so glad I got to see you again! But this has to be the best line ever written; "So what happened folks? I found myself following FOUR Internet Strangers to die in a space-like enviroment." And remember, Kate and I wanna see you ASAP. And as soon as you know what your next dates are for Disney, I'm going. Kate and I will be going in the summer, so you should come along too. Maybe Cas can come, and you know Antss will be there! Miss you! -Pete

I hope the rehab of Space Mountain isn't just a rumor--I'd love to ride it again if they make it smoother :goodvibes

Jamie!!!! I posted some of our pics at the pa'er thread and the girls were so excited to see YOU!!! yes YOU!!! :goodvibes So Woman!!! I hope you are available Dec. 6th coz we are going to be looking for you!!! What are you plans that day etc....   we're hoping that you would be available err hmm around 8:30PM to be at EPCOT... :rolleyes1

Soon Antss joined us. She wasnt hungry, and just hung out with us while we ate.

How can you think of food when you're with GReat company!!! :grouphug:

And Pete ! FInally!!! the Day Gmax saw klofan!!! Hmmmm 10 more days!!! and We'll see Glenda again :cool1: :woohoo:

that splash mountain pic is too funny! i can't believe that you were scared of that little old ride. just you wait; i am a roller coaster junkie and you will be riding RNR several times when we meet up so get your sedatives ready.

btw.....poor mom sitting on the bench. i hope that she was content.

OK I have to stop lurking and tell you how much I've enjoyed your TR. And also to say if you're like me and get those dreaded cold sores occassionally, try Abreva. It's kind of expensive for a little tube but a little tube goes a long way. I put it on when I get that first little tingle when you know you're getting one and if you use this stuff soon enough you never get the cold sore. I always have it in my purse just in case.
Also have to ask you, did you love AKL? DS and I will be going there soon. We've been for breakfast but never stayed there.

So glad you braved Space Mountain! My first time on it I was 8 years old and rode with my aunt. You used to share one seat, and there was no lap bar or belt. (At least there wasn't when I rode it). My lasting memory of the ride was that I slid off the seat and rode the rest of the ride screaming from the floor of the car. Since then I've become a bit addicted to most thrill rides, but it was years before I could be convinced to ride SM again. :lmao:

That picture is too funny. I'm always looking in weird directions in mine.

Great TR Glenda! and I'll echo the comments on the Splash Mt pic! Classic!! :lmao: Timmy, you always look like you're having the time of your life! Go figure :)

I can't wait to meet up with more cool DISers in December! :thumbsup2

And for even FURTHER embarassment, here's an even CLOSER look:

petesnite001b.jpg

Glendamax, I love this picture. Your look is hysterical!!!!! I'm glad you were brave enough to ride and I'm glad you were willing to share the pictures with us. I love it!!

Cathy

Yay! I am so proud of you! I didn't know you rode SM?? You must of rode the left side...the right side has a few drops;)

I had a feeling either you wound up riding space mountain or it was going to be my next personal mission to get you to ride it - LOOK AT YOU GO!!!:cool1:

You know all those crazy internet strangers wouldn't steer you wrong! ;)

and Dec 6-12, got it. We'll start discussing and planning on our end :)

Glenda you had me in stitches with this photo! :lmao: You are such a good sport and I soooo needed the laugh today! We're about to leave for Disney and I have few precious hours left to prepare for it. Anyway, you really made my day and I'm glad you met so many wonderful folks from the boards and conquered your fears all in one!

Wow, you are one popular lady.:goodvibes Great TR and I too love your Splash Mountain pic. That is classic.:lmao:
