My husband wanted to vaca in Colorado over Christmas/New Year this year. I flat out said -- "if my cat can't go I am not going" and started looking through rentals that accept pets. Turns out most places are only "dog friendly". We've decided to stay home over Christmas/New Year this year. This is definitely Pamper Puppy week; longer walks, more play time and their least favorite.. grooming. Both pups are getting washed tonight and Sherlock is getting shaved down. DH has been clipping their nails as I just don't have the courage. I'll prep the treats but that's as far as I go.

We own a beach house two hours away - it's rare that I go there without taking my little old lady. She doesn't need meds or anything yet (she's on RX food though), but I feel so guilty leaving her.
We have three cats and one GSD. And we have a fabulous retired neighbor couple who pet sits them for us - comes over and lets the dog out several times a day and takes her on walks... the wife loves on the cats and does litter and food, etc. But my mom heart hurts when we spend the night apart from my older kitty. I know that my time is limited with her. And she doesn't understand when I'm gone -- I come home and she turns her back on me for several hours!
