we grind ourselves each week. My hubs learned how to do it from watching a few youtube videos and its been awesome not having to bring her in somewhere to get them done.
Our Vet trims their nails for free when you bring them in for shots or refills and during yearly exams but they don't grind them and Watson definitely needs that.

I knew way back in June I didn't want Sherlock getting groomed anywhere because I wanted to do it. I bought these Oster A5 Hair Clippers at Amazon. Mine included various attachments and an extra blade for $149. I also bought Fenice Peak 7.5‘’ Professional Dog Grooming Scissors 4pc Set for $128. I believe it was during Prime Day and I used discounted gift cards. Lastly I purchased from Chris Christensen Large Big G Slicker Brush and 27mm Fusion Oval Pin Brush. I got $5 off each and free ship.

Clipping the black nails though, :sad2: nope! I use to clip my cocker spaniel's nails but I could see what I was doing.

I didn’t know you could transfer the fuel points. I know points earned in one month are good that month and expire at the end of the next month.
Yes you can, actually you're allowed to transfer your points three times in one year, so they say. During the peak of Covid, we did it every month. Someone here use to post "Don't forget to transfer your points." which was a great reminder for us. You need to call Kroger CS.

EDIT to add: Speaking of Kroger, I picked up my order and went inside to see if they would allow me to use the $8 off coupon and CS said Yes and I'll be happy to ring you up!

Cool!!! Glad I asked though, it would have bugged me to do something that felt icky.

I don’t think I could ever groom my goldens myself…they will look like a hot mess! We have found grinding to be much easier if you keep it up each week, you just grind them a little bit and it’s hard to hit the quick. I also spread PB on a plastic plate that I hold up while my hubs grinds and she’s licks it happily. She has black nails too so I understand that but I encourage you to give it a try!

It's not hard with a cooperative dog. I did mine, despite the hassle, but then the dremmel died and he needed his glands done more due tonage so it was just easier. You get the hang of how short you can go.

What do you all use? I have a Dremel but I think it's for crafts. Also is there a specific tip I need to buy? I'm willing to give it a go for both pups.

Yes, I decided to go with the Target 5% via the Rakuten shopping portal. The portal's terms exclude gift cards, but from what I have read here, sometimes it works anyway. In any case I got the Disney e-GC within minutes and was able to purchase my desired theme park ticket right after that. I am not great at comprehending the maze of offers, portals, stacking, etc., so I went with one that seemed pretty straightforward.

Thanks now I know it is an option to call and transfer. We have always just let family members use what we are not able to use.

BTW I agree black toe nails are no fun I gave up and took my pup to the vet after I cut to close by mistake.

I have this Office Depot offer, do they sell DGC?

We have the original Pedi Paws: heavy-duty motor, plug-in, and variable nail size guide. Having three German Shepherd Dogs (at the same time), it withstands the test of heavy-duty nails. They only sell the battery op one now. Too bad.

Got it on mine for exp 2/9/23
Thank you for posting. Offer has been added to Post #4 Amazon & Credit Card Offers

Southwest Airline Chase Offers: Get 10% Back on Southwest Ticket Purchases (Max $40)

Yes and you'll need to buy them in-store for the Chase offer to track properly.
I think they only sell them instore
Close, they do sell them online but they won't track properly as gc are sold by giftcardmall, a third party vendor.

This is the newer model of the one that we have. It comes with everything you need to get started.
Thanks for posting and including a link. I asked DH about my craft Dremel, the voltage etc.. could I use it for the pups and he said he bought something similar possibly from amazon. Honestly I had no clue about this purchase, here are a few photos:

I'll give it a try and if I'm not happy I'll use your link as I've already added the item to my Amazon cart.

FYI - The boots you recommended from Mountain Ridge are really, REALLY great!
I wish they were a little longer as my backyard is a total mud pit but they keep their paws clean and dry. Pictured below and very muddy are the Tough Boots and below that are the unused Finished Top Booties. No snow yet!

Just a reminder to all, on Post #1 Disney Gift Card Deals ONLY
I've included all credit card offers that can be used to purchase Disney gift cards.

I'm still waiting to hear from you for the online Kroger offers via in-store pickup. A DP was added a while back to Post #2 Discount District for Kroger:
  • 12/10/22 In comments, Add CC offers to Krogerpay it will code as an online order, and the offer will work for instore purchases. You can only buy a GC that is sub $50 using Krogerpay, anything over that won’t work. This will also activate the 3% on the CSP for online grocery purchases category.
Since posting, has anyone tried it?
I personally haven't as I used our offers on much needed groceries.

Good luck with the nail grinding. The one that your husband bought before looks like it will do the job just fine!

I'm so glad to hear that you love the boots! They are very minimalistic but I think that is the beauty of it. The dogs don't notice them much after you put them on initially and they really keep their paws clean/dry. The only part I struggle with sometimes is the velcro strap because my golden has really long feathering so it always gets caught.

Its the same for Sherlock, his hair is very fine, it feels just like baby hair so it gets a little caught up in the velcro. And neither pups walk weird when wearing these booties, it's like they don't even notice them being on and that's a good thing.

I guess this is the year for testing what works for us and our pups.
I also purchased Tasperfed anti-slip snow boots from amazon.

I followed their sizing chart & recommendation but the boots are too big. Though they haven't fallen off, they do tend to twist around to where the bottom pads are on the top of their paws.
The rear boots fit perfectly on the front paws for both pups. Sherlock's fur does not get's caught up in the velcro. I've ordered a smaller size for the back paws so for now, I don't recommend them.

I purchased Ruffwear Polar Trex Dog Boots but have not used them this year. Last year I bought them for Sherlock and he did very well, no weird walking. Now with his toe amputated his measurement is different. This will be Watson's first year for these boots but again, no snow yet to test them out.
