I doubt that. There's no way they print that many different packaging types and barcodes for each different chain/store that carries 3rd party cards.

More likely when they are shipped the lot is assigned to an individual chain or store so they can be tracked.
This makes sense.

I figured I would not be able to do it but it never hurts to ask if you can have some cards to try as all they can say is no. The same is true if I was able to get the card from CVS or other retailer that Game Stop may say no that they are not going to load it.

Unfortunately we only have one Game Stop any where near me which is why I even asked.

Im still waiting patiently....as my statement has already closed.
I'm also still "patiently" waiting for my 3 Staples offers to post, though my statement doesn't close until next week, but it has been 11 days! Another family member redeemed the same Staples offer on their card 3 days after me and already received the credit on their statement 🤷‍♀️

My staples is the one that hasn’t posted yet either. Frustrating.

That is what i find so weird. I had 3 also and redeemed all 3 the SAME DAY. Credit on one of them
posted 3 days later. The other 2 ....nada....and those are the 2 the statements have closed. lol

For the GameStop did you get a Disney GC and if so did you know if it was a face value card, or a variable load.

If it is a variable load do you know if the minimum value was $15 or $25?
The Gamestop Disney variable gift cards are $25 - $500.

As to taking a gift card from one store and buying it at another (without getting into the ethics of it), as long as the UPC code on the gift card is the same at the store you are bring it to, it will ring up in their system. Some gift cards don't have UPC's on them (usually the ones by Fastcard) in which case there is a code on the bottom corner and as long as those are the same, they will ring up in the stores system.

For example, back when Bed, Bath, & Beyond sold gift cards, the only Amazon gift cards they sold were the $25 kindle gift cards which had the same UPC as the $25 Amazon kindle gift card sold at Staples.

There is a forum I follow (I won't name it here) where people discuss how they do this. Their justification (not mine) is that the stores do not actually pay for the blank gift cards, the company that makes them (usually Blackhawk Network, Fastcard, or Incomm) send them to the stores for free so if you take it from one store to the next you are not really causing anyone to lose any money.

Just the store that you took the card from who now doesn't get a piece of that sale.

Curious - I don't have any Office Depot, Staples, GameStop, shopDisney or similar offers showing up on either of my Chase cards (Amazon Prime Visa and Chase Sapphire Reserve) - wondering if I need to apply for another Chase card 🤣

Which card should I apply for? Or should I try the Wells Fargo Active Cash card?

Opening all of these cards is probably not good for my credit lol.

Head over to the I Love Credit Cards thread before making any credit card decisions. That thread is amazing and the people are so helpful! In my experience, my Sapphire Reserve gets very few of the “good” offers. My co-branded cards (Southwest and United) tend to get the most. But credit cards are way more valuable than just the offers, so have a solid plan on what your goals are.

I think it varies. My csr gets good offers but it used to be a freedom. My freedom gets good offers but it used to be a csr. Hyatt is in the middle and Disney is crap.

I'm surprised you don't have it on your CSR. The Amazon is not surprising at all. I have one, so does my mother and my MIL, and in all cases there are very few offers and never anything good. But our CSRs usually have something good. DH, MIL, and myself for instance each have OD/OM on CSR.
My family all know I'm Disney-crazy and let me use the offers on their cards to get DGCs since none of them have the patience for keeping track of and using offers.

In my experience, the 3rd party Chase card that gets the most offers is Southwest. Then United. Less so on Disney Visa but still some good ones occasionally (DH got GmaeStop on his, my brother had Best Buy on his). But not the Amazon one 🤷‍♂️

From the recent slew of offers that I could use in my area (Best Buy, Office Depot, GameStop, Staples, ShopDisney), the cards across family members that had the most offers were Freedom Flex/Unlimited, Southwest, and the Sapphire Preferred cards. Then CSR and United, then Hyatt. Lastly Disney. And none of the Amazons ever have anything so I don't even bother looking most of the time.

Definitely ask the CCs thread if you're opening a new card, me and family didn't get any of the above for the offers, these are just nice side effects, but it's the sign up bonuses that make them valuable. However, I will say the Chase Freedom Flex is a nice card that doesn't have much in the way of sign up bonus, but the rotating categories of 5% back and Chase offers have made it valuable to me. I just PCd my CSP for another FF, actually.

My theory is that the more you use your card and the more varied the purchase types, the more offers you'll get. The cards that I put property tax on to meet MSR and then sock drawer are the ones that get no offers.

Thanks all, I was thinking of getting the Chase Freedom Flex card. I actually used to have the original Chase Freedom card but stupidly cancelled it awhile ago. The Q1 and Q4 5% back is useful for buying $1500 in DGCs from BJs or Sam's Club at ~4% off plus 5% back. I already have Discover which gives you 5% back in Q3 with Paypal and now new for Q4 you can use a Digital Wallet like Apple Pay to get 5% back as well.

I end up buying way too many Disney Gift cards lol ($3255 per year on 4 APs plus DVC dues plus whatever we spend on dining and merchandise each year). I wish I could find someone willing to sell me discounted DGCs in bulk would be a lot easier :D

There could be something to it is based on what you purchase. I just recently opened my Chase Sapphire Reserve card (2 months ago) - so it is relatively new. I primarily use that card for travel and food, so I don't have a lot of shopDisney or other purchases on it. At first I had no offers, but now I have a bunch - just none are the same as what others are seeing! :) I got a Best Buy 10% off one which I used.

I rarely use either of these cards outside the offers if I'm working on a sub and it seems like that's been most of the last 2 years.

Freedom has my 2 recurring pet ins charges and csr sometimes gets used for award flight taxes. I've been putting most of my non sub spend on my hyatt in case I can get to $15k.

LOL my wife just told me she still has her Chase Freedom card, never cancelled it and she has a 20% off BestBuy (good for $20 off max), 10% off Home Depot (good for $10 off max), 10% off Game Stop (good for $10 off max), 10% off Staples (good for $10 off max) and 10% off CVS (good for $4 off max).

Jackpot! Except she can't find her card so I had to order a new one ... :rotfl2:

You are too funny! And see, the Freedom card gets so many offers! It's great! If some of the offers are expiring soon, it would be worth it to ask Chase to expedite her new card. That way you'll have it in a couple of business days instead of a week or so.
