Thank you so much! It's been a while since we were last there, DH and I have been several times and in 2015 we took our son for his first visit. He loved it! Unfortunately we didn't meet our up with my family (Uncles, Aunts & cousins) as we had way too much going on. Though I did call them. Right?! I would never hear the end of it if I hadn't! LOL!

I believe I may have mentioned many pages ago the agreement we made with our son, if you graduate (from high school) with honors we will give you an all expense paid vacation anywhere you want to go. We made this agreement when he started high school, so for three years this dangled in front of him like a carrot!

On a personal note, DH & I had hoped he would have chosen a trip to the UK and after a lovely visit, take a train to Paris and enjoy the sites there but sadly no. :sad1: I guess it's a trip we'll have to make on our own.
Wait, …..Foxy….日本人なの?🤯

I love it, Covid stopped me from making it back but kids haven’t missed a semester. My oldest is aiming to do middle school there. I have a few parents who have made the same pact with their kids and I am taking some of them on an EF Tour in ‘24 to Japan.

I was in Ireland this last summer before Japan and loved it! England and Paris are on my wish list….but with four kids, I may wait till they graduate and leave 😂

Is there a way to be alerted when RMN increases their ShopDisney cash back from the normal 5%.
Maybe, but it's not completely reliable. You can create an account on cashbackmonitor.com. Once logged in, click the arrow next to your name to set up your personalized monitor. You can select specific portals to track and specific merchants. Then you can set up alerts. The alerts are set at a specific threshold, like you can ask to be alerted when any of your tracked portals reaches 10% on ShopDisney, for example. One thing to remember is that the alert expires after it is sent - you need to reactivate it.

It works most of the time, but cashbackmonitor doesn't always track the portals quickly. This forum is the fastest thing around, TBH.

I also promised my son a high school graduation trip and he picked Tokyo, but unfortunately we had to delay due to pandemic. When Japan opened up just this past October, I immediately made plans for a December trip. We came back a week ago and he loved it. He loves anime and video games and we must have spent at least two days just in Akihabara. He told me about an urban fishing spot right in the middle of Shinjuku that he learned about from the Persona V game and he caught 3 huge carps...was definitely a highlight of the trip. I went crazy with the toy capsule machines trying to get a full collection of figure-skating cats. Food was awesome too. He went to a sushi bar by himself and had 15 plates of fresh tasty sashimi and the bill was just about $25 USD!! His favorite was Ikinari Steak where you can choose the cut of beef and the exact size down to each gram and not expensive at all. Also had a maid cafe adventure. He said he wants to go back again next December and I said only if we can go to Tokyo Disney since he has outgrown Disney (sadly)!

Awww yea nothing like some kaiten zushi! (I assume it was conveyer belt style). Did you try any Japanese (Mongolian) style bbq, oh man….that stuff is the bomb. It is my must do every year when I go and every Obon when we get together with her brother and sister. Did you all do skytree while you were there? absolutely amazing view, took all my kids for the first time this year while we were on layover in Tokyo in July.

If you go back I would get a rail pass and go down the line to Osaka, Kyoto and Hiemji, also one of my fav places is Hiroshima. There are too many places to name to see along that line! Also has a Universal with harry potter and super mario world if he is into that!

Why yes, yes I am! ::yes::

DH and I went to the UK for almost a month. We love history and we felt right at home. So much to do and see. @dragonflymom you son sounds just like mine!

Our fall trip will include visiting TDR and USJ during their Halloween celebrations. So excited!

Curious: how are you all feeling towards RMN for ShopDisney GC these days?

They had been very consistent in payouts for me over 2022. Lots of 10% RMN coupled with Chase offers to get 15-20% off, depending on my Chase. Payout felt virtually guaranteed, unlike other cashback portals.

Of my Black Friday weekend, 3/4 paid but I know other folks had more go ineligible.

Are we thinking that weekend with the bouncing between 10/15% and things going ineligible was a fluke or the new norm?

I have a 10% Chase that I'm considering testing the next time RMN kicks back up to 10%, since even the 10% is good enough.

I know none of us have crystal balls, just wondering where people stand. In November, when everyone was reporting the ineligibles, I thought, "Well, that was good while it lasted," but perhaps I wrote them off too soon.

笑、小さいな世界だね!:jumping1:

The Kuma in my name is from the time I lived in Kumamoto-ken for about three years, my oldest was born there! My wife and her side of the family are all from Miyazaki-ken!

Glad to hear England is so great, I think my wife and I hope to get an airbnb for the summer or something one of these years and just explore out there.

Well.....I'm done with topcashback. this might be my own fault, but I made a whopping $0 on all my purchases a couple of months back b/c nothing tracked properly. I'll stick to the 1 or 2 portals that actually work for me. >:(

I don't know how but I definitely got lucky. I made six DGC purchases from shopDisney when RMK was at 15% and they all paid out, with the last one coming in this morning. Like those above I'm going to keep going to use up my Chase Offers that dropped this month!

This is all fascinating. Japan is a bucket list destination for me. I took Japanese in undergrad but it has been a long time since I was able to use it. I was offered the opportunity to go teach English there but I was headed to law school so it didn't make sense for me at the time. Anyway... all of this was really cool. :-)

All of purchases from BF paid out... but NONE of my husbands did. I am going to try one coupled with a chase offer and see what happens because I would be doing it regardless. But, I am not sure I will roll the dice and giant purchases again this year if that was the only offer on it and it would be otherwise full price. I am personally on the fence about that.

For me, the only RMN offers that were reversed were purchased during the 10/15% glitch the week of Thanksgiving. All before and after have paid out. I'm not too concerned, I think it was just a glitch. I think a lot of the reversals were a bunch of large, multiple purchases that brought attention to it. I know a ton of people who had negative balances from Ibotta and tried to return gift cards purchases that didn't track.

I'm not actively looking for deals right now, have enough stockpiled with no trip planned, unless a good deal pops up of course 😂

New to this thread…What is RMN and RMK?

RMN = Retailmenot which is a cashback site, here's the link

I don't know what RMK is, possibly Rakuten which is another cashback site, here's that link

If your not a member ask your friends & family if they are, referrals pay out.

I know deals for Uber/Lyft pop up here occasionally, but I don't see any active. Curious if anyone has a "go to" deal for either.

I've found:
- Target 5% off
- Sam's Club 2% off+5% cash app+ any cash back site

Anyone else have any ideas?

On our December trip we used Uber in a pinch, and it was so handy we used it a few more times. I'd like to have a little stockpile for my trip in 2 weeks.
