I'm not really sure how to tackle Saving Money on Airfare as we use Delta. It's tied to DH's employer and we reap the benefits. DH receives a Companion Pass every year and if Delta Gift Cards are on a decent sale I'll buy them, other then that I have no clue where to begin. Hopefully you'll be able to fill in the blanks as this is not my area of expertise.

Note: This is an active post and will be updated as more Tips and information come in, it has also been added to the Main Page, Post #10 More Ways to Save

Let's start with Best Credit Cards For Travel Purchases and Credit Card Offers & Promotions. The list is long and varies from cc to airline portals and more. Some offers are posted on Amazon & Credit Card Offers and Transportation & Traveling with Points but what if you're a beginner?
TPG Beginner’s Guide: Everything you need to know about points, miles, airlines and credit cards

And how about that more.
  • Use Co-Branded Credit Card to Get Free Checked Bags
  • Gift Cards, gift cards, gift cards! We typically see offers for specific airlines at grocery stores, credit cards, warehouses and direct online offers which are posted on the Main pages and in the thread. I'll be sure to keep an eye out and use this image as an alert

If I'm missing anything please let me know and please feel free to post your round about ways to save on airline tickets.
We usually only fly southwest. When I booked flights for this may, I was short on points. I ended up buying SW gc at sams. $450 for a 500 card. So I saved 10% there plus the 2% cb on my credit card. I know Raise often has travel gc at an additional % off as well.

My only other "hack" is a good rewards CC. Since we fly SW 99% of the time I have a SW cc and get miles and the compainion pass there.

I got an email from Giftcards.com this morning with an early access code to buy Virtual Visa cards at 5% off. It appears to be valid today only so I suspect that the sale will go live to the general public tomorrow.

I know that 5% isn't a great discount, but it's better than nothing, particularly if you can combine it with some other deals. I just booked a quick 3-day, 2-night trip to Universal for the end of the month so I will use it to get a discount on a Universal gift card to pay for the hotel. Every little bit helps!

Thank you for posting! It is a good offer. Is there a limit?

**Promo code valid 03/10/2022 for 5% off the purchase of up to 3 Visa Virtual Gift Accounts from GiftCards.com while supplies last maximum value $37.50.

So it looks like $750, which is in line with what it was in the past.

I have ordered 5 and it looks like it would let me get the 6th, I just added another to my cart and the $10 exchange card also added. I was only planning on getting 5 but hmm

If you can make use of the $10 exchange card, I say load up.
What a gold mine, 20% off Disney!

Hmm. I know my one time offers have stayed on my account after use. The only time they're removed is when I get the Congrats email, that's why I posted Don't be fooled if you use it and see the offer still on your account.

Comment: Also for many larger insurance companies you can make a one time payment in any amount, so if you got the 10% make a $150 payment on the Amex and leave the Citi to pay the $650 on the due date. In my opinion these deals depend on the time/work you want to put into them. Amex is hoping you will add the card, forget about it, and get 1% for the next several cycles.

Well shoot, I should have grabbed it when I tried it, it was immediately after I did the 5th buy. Today, no bonus card. :(

Well look at it this way, you really took the time to think about your budget, how to use the Exchange card and best part, you purchased a total of five! Nice job!
I will say, I'm happy and surprised this promotion was not posted on Slickdeals, it could have sold out a lot sooner like the last one did.

Edit: Hmm, I wonder if the limit is 5. I'm still seeing it available. Once sold out, they put a big banner on top or remove it completely.

And I may have spoken too soon. I just tried again and now the $10 is back. I only owed a balance of $255 on our short Ft Wilderness stay in Oct, the reason I bought 5, but I do have a longer one planned for next Jan. But like you said, thinking about the budget and what I really need to buy from the Exchange. They do have pretty good prices on Clinique and tax-free.

Too bad they won't let you buy gift cards with gift cards!

Also compare perfume & cologne.
I think their prices are very good on several things and their sales during Memorial Day and Black Friday are amazing. If my son were in grade school or I was a grandparent, I would have no trouble using the Exchange cards.

Reminder, today is the last day!

New code SPRING22, theoretically valid through 3/25.
653343

Giftcards.com: Save 5% On Virtual Visa Gift Cards With Promo Code SPRINGVIP
  • Promo code SPRINGVIP valid 03/10/2022 for 5% off the purchase of up to 3 Visa Virtual Gift Accounts from GiftCards.com while supplies last
  • Maximum value $37.50.
  • Excludes GiftCards.com for Business orders.
  • Promo code SPRINGVIP is a one-time use code and can not be combined with other offers.
  • Reward percentages are subject to change at any time and are not offered on all products.
The maximum denomination of Visa gift cards from Giftcards.com is $250. Buying three of those will incur fees of $17.85 ($5.95 per card), but you’ll get $37.50 off which means you’ll make a $19.65 profit even before taking into account credit card rewards.

Even better is the fact that several shopping portals are still offering 3%/3x on Giftcards.com purchases. Note that you’re limited to earning portal rewards on a maximum of $2,000 of Giftcards.com purchases per month – that’s across all portals. Southwest and American Airlines are also offering additional portal bonuses right now. GCG

Thanks for the heads up @sandam1

I have given up on giftcards.com (and kroger, who uses giftcards.com to process their cards). The first few times I ordered from them I had no problem but the last 2 or 3 times every one of my orders got cancelled. I tried every single one of my credit cards, visa, mastercard, american express, every one of them got cancelled. I called them up and the useless customer service guy told me the credit card company declined it. I knew that wasn't true (all 3 credit cards would decline it - hard to believe) but just to be sure I called my credit card and they said they didn't decline any charges. So after wasting 45 minutes I decided it wasn't worth it dealing with them again. This seems to be a common issue with them - it seems to be the most common complaint on sitejabber which is why giftcards.com has a 1.78 rating out of 5. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/giftcards.com

Truth be told, after you factor in the fees for the gift cards and assuming you use a 2% cash back credit card, your saving is around 4.7%. If you have a chase ink credit card, you would get a straight forward 5% back buying visa gift cards at Staples when they have them fee free which seems to be every few weeks.

That stinks that they cancelled your orders. That happened to me once when I first tried to open an account and then send the gift card to another email. Now I don't log in and just send the card(s) to myself. So far, that has worked. This deal was a $46.47 money maker for me without leaving my house. I'll take it!
