*UPDATED* DISDivas & Family October Mini Meet *UPDATED* (3.0 Version!)

Hi everybody--Donna, AmySue, my friend Brandy and I survived the Shinteki challenge today--we even scored enough points to garner a bronze medal! whoo hoo--of course, we don't actually GET a medal, but still. We were pretty jazzed. The quests were VERY hard--much harder (at least I thought) than MouseAdventure. But we had a great time (despite the heat) and the Shinteki people were great! We probably didn't finish even 20% of them and felt lucky to have done what we did--but I think everything we attempted we got right--plus we got some extra points along the way. (they were really nice people running this thing).

I am SO tired--after the Trick or Treat party on Thurs., working Friday, Donna and I went to dinner last night then Amy arrived and fixed Donna's t-shirt--I'll have to post a pic--they are such cute shirts. Amy is crafty you know . . .. :thumbsup2

My Mom is here--she came to sit with Bella and now I'm going to bed--night girls!

That's sweet of your mom to sit with Bella :lovestruc

Debra... you made me laugh so much at the 2 pair of pants for your sons! I can't wait to see you! Travel Safe, My Friend!

CheryL...ooohh that sounds like such a great time.. I am so HaPpPy that You all did that! I love hearing about good times shared.:goodvibes

Stacielee.. You inspired Melody and I do plan a cooking day together and make recipes to share to cook in one day.

So who all is packed? I'm going to start today.

We decided to drive half the way on wednesday and stay the night in a hotel along the way. Then wake up and drive the rest of the way on thursday. Just make the trip a little easier.

Is everyone through with their costumes? Do You have them ready to go?
Still working on mine, hope to finish it up today.

Remember if You are activating Your Costco annual passes to bring them! I'm worried I'll forget mine.

Snacks for on the road..i need to do that. Eek.. better go get to work!

I am so excited, only 4 more days!! And hopefully DH, DS and DD will have enough food to eat while I'm gone! They are both going to be home from college for the weekend and I'll be gone with my other DD. At least, that's the plan, I never know with DS he may/may not be here... Seems like he doesn't plan too far ahead.

Dawn, what are you and Mel making? I love doing it and have been doing it for about 3-4 months now, just once a month. My freezer is SO full right now!!

Can't wait to get some pumpkin fudge and the little Mickey cup! YUM!! Wonder how much I can bring home, without eating first??

I have to do laundry this week, then pack. And I'm tie dying 2 shirts for Allyson and I, hopefully they come out! Wish me luck!!

See ya soon, Theresa!! We should be there around 8pm. I'll call you when we get there. What do I need to do for parking? Free valet? Or self park somewhere??

No free valet Stacie--it's $17 a day. There is self parking across the street by PPH--you need your room key to get in and out--so you'll have to get it from Theresa before you go to park.

Hey girlies!

I'm thinking of renting a car at John Wayne Airport next Wednesday to use to get to Hojos and then to Fullerton to see my boyfriend. Then we'd turn it in Thursday morning. Does anybody know of a cheap way to do this? If I just use cabs, I'm looking at about $45 from the airport to Hojos and then I'm not sure how much to and from Fullerton. It's a straight shot down Harbor, less than 15 minutes, so I'm thinking $15-20 each way? So I'm looking for for something cheaper than that.

I have also had good luck with Alamo through Costco, but for one day, that will be hard. You are trying to beat $85 and that doesn't seem like it would be too hard. Maybe try priceline or hotwire?

Hey all! Long time no 'see'. I haven't been posting much, I've been busy, and really haven't had anything exciting or pleasant to share in a while. I hate to bring down the thread while everyone is excited planning.

My big news, is that I found out this morning that I won't be able to make the trip next week. My father's cancer is back, and I've been waiting not so patiently for weeks to find out what was wrong and what we're going to do about it. I almost feel like God has taken care of me in one respect though, he has made everything fall into place so that my father can have surgery next Friday, and I have the time off to fly out and be there for him and my mother. He has another spot on his colon and mets to his liver now. Please pray for us.

I'm so sorry that I won't be there to celebrate. I wish I was close enough to pass my costume on to someone. I also have a trick or treat party ticket.

I was so looking forward to staying in the party room and drinking Magicale with Theresa. This was my chance to stay at the Grand Californian and now I won't be able to. I hate it.

I was looking forward to Ms Sally's party. I know Dawn has put so much effort into making it special. I'm sorry I'm going to miss celebrating with her.

Thanks for being there for me everyone. I haven't been the best friend lately but I'll get back on the wagon soon.

Heather

Heather,

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I will pray for you all. Such a heartwrenching miserable affliction that doesn't make any sense at all. I'll miss seeing you though.
Tracey

Alrighty! I'm throuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggh with my costume! WaHOoooOOOo! For some reason i just couldn't get into putting mine together. :confused3 I think it turned out cute. Mine and My mom's are all made from clothing items and material we had at home. So another green project completed.:thumbsup2

DebbieLouWho... well... my mom always cuts up some boneless skinnless chicken breast then southern fries them and we have that to snack on in the car along with some fruit and cheese with chrackers. My Mom makes the bestest fried chicken! So we decided that's going to be our snacks for the drive.

Tina... yes Ma'aM! He's going to drive us up. Then thursday night we are going to register his annual pass and go on haunted mansion then relax in the room. And he will go 1/2 way home friday then saturday he will go to a gun show in phoenix or somewhere.

HiYa CristabeL.. your sisters costume is so cute!!!

CheryL...that is so Kewl You all Placed!!!!:cheer2: I'm so glad you had a great time!

Kelly.. I'm going to pack either tonight or in the morning. I'd like to pack tonight. Here's crossing my fingers.

Stacielee.. we don't know what we are making yet.. we just know we wanna do it. I really want to increase my savings this new year and i think cooking like this will help.

Oh! Remember that if you spend over $35 at Cafe Orleans { I don't know if it's at other resturants too} Be sure and tell them You would like the Collectible Nightmare Before Christmas Spoon. I guess that's the promo like the Nightmare before christmas ornaments last year.:goodvibes

I'm so excited now, I can barely concentrate to work :yay: :yay: I'm just finishing off laundry now (blech!) and I *hope* I will get the packing done tonight. I really like to have that done ahead of time so I know if I forgot anything or need to pick up anything...... For parking, we do get a parking pass, so either I can pick it up when I check in or you can when you pick up your keys - just let me know.

Stacie - you have to share some make ahead recipes!! Do you cook for one day really and that's good for a month??? I so have to look into this. I waste way too much money ordering dinners when I just don't feel like cooking - which seems to happen more and more often. Not good :sad2:

No free valet Stacie--it's $17 a day. There is self parking across the street by PPH--you need your room key to get in and out--so you'll have to get it from Theresa before you go to park.

Thanks for the info :thumbsup2 I never have a car when I'm there, so I had no idea...... It's Disneyland Express for us this time, so hopefully our flight gets there at a good time and we catch one relatively quickly. I hate flying into LAX, but it was the cheapest option this time (actually, I have only ever flown into LAX :rotfl2:)

Dawn, your snacks sound delish!! You and Mel have to share your recipes - I think I would like to do this too :thumbsup2 Of course, I will be cooking alone, but if you share recipes, it would be almost like cooking with everyone else ;) I have tons of Gladware and a huge stand up (almost empty - boo) freezer, so I have the space.

We're going to Cafe Orleans for dinner, so I have to remember this :woohoo:

Cheryl, Donna & Amy Sue - sounds like you guys had a great time!

Donna - I'm really hoping there are some of the small Vinylmations left in the parks. Unfortunately, I think they are really cute and now I must get some..... bummer! I tried to resist, but they are calling my name and would look too cute in my office :rotfl:

Poo! Oh well, I'll figure it out when we get there.

I need to figure out our snacks as well, driving snacks and room snacks!

It will definitely save you money, especially if you get staples when they are on sale at the grocery store ahead of time, especially the meat. I try to stock up on pasta, canned tomatoes and dried beans as well.

I'll just get the parking pass when we check in, since DCA will already be closed and we probably won't have time to go to DL since it closes at 9 and we won't get there much before 8.

When I cook, it does usually last for a month or so. Just depends on what everybody's schedule is. Now that the 2 older ones are away at college there's only 3 of us to feed so it's a little different now. Leftovers end up being my lunch sometimes, and we usually have a leftover dinner night towards the end of the week. There's a couple different programs you can use that once you choose your recipes it makes your shopping list, that's the part that I REALLY love! One of them will also print out what you need to chop/slice/shred/cut up ahead of time so you can get it done the day before. I'll bring it to show you, I just added it to my list since I would probably forget if I didn't. I also have the Pom. Lemonade on it and the 2 bottles of wine that are similar to Magicale. Now who's supplying the Magicale??

Mmmm, Cafe Orleans, haven't figured out when to go there yet, definitely need a Monte Cristo and Pomme Frites!! My friends laugh at me because we plan what/where/when to eat before anything else!!

See you all in 3 1/2 days!!

Stacie~ What program do you use for the cooking? I think that would work out pretty good for us.

Dawn~ Your snacks sound yummy! I love me some fried chicken!!

I am finally starting to pack. I am almost done with all of the laundry.
I swear Kaeleb was stock piling towels in his room.

I have to pack Jordan to head to my cousins house.

When Jill gets here on Tuesday night, I will need to throw her clothes in the washer. Why might you ask? Her mom is a flippen chain smoker. blech...I really don't that all week or in the car. Call me anal or whatever but I like nice fresh smellin clothes!!

EEEKKKKKkk......I am so excited just a few more days and we will be on our way.

HI everyone!!

Everyones costumes sound great. Dawn I know your Moms and yours are going to be great, cuz you are so creative!! My sweater is supposed to be here by Wednesday. Talk about close call!!!

Cheryl, the MP game thing sounds interesting!! Congrats on placing Bronze!! :woohoo: I need to PM you about some last minute goodies!!!

So I have decided to drive now, instead of taking the train. We would have been too late for Miss Sally's party if we had taken it. So now I need to make sure the oil is changed, and Dave wants to put on new tires. Hopefully I will be set. Now I just need to get my mindset on driving. I hate to drive in LA. I mean.............who does?

Stacie, I can't wait to see your list of things to do to cook all month. I've always wanted to try that, but never got real serious about it. Now I would love to give it a real chance. I even had a cookbook to do it at one time. Who knows where it is. :confused3:laughing:

I'm bringing some food with me. Yogurt and granola. (My staple) Some six packs of O.J. and some fruit. The rest of my diet is out on the town!! :woohoo:

Ladies, don't forget your ponchos, tickets, cameras, bandaids, meds, Diva phone list, and plastic baggies. Those are my staples for DL. Oh and plenty of money of course. I also always carry one of those tiny ity bitty LED flashlights in case of emergency or whatever.

What else do you guys always bring into the parks?

The program I use is called Advantage Cooking, and it's from the website 30daygourmet.com. They have lots of different types of cookbooks and the program comes loaded with recipes and if you buy any of the cookbooks (you can also download the cookbooks), you also get the recipe to load into the program. There are also free recipes on their website. Another one I use is Make-A-Mix cookbook because it has basic recipes for things like taco seasoning, chili seasoning, cake mixes, stuff like that so I don't have to buy the packets. And I really like a cookbook called Don't Panic Dinner's in the Freezer. With the program, you can enter new recipes, which I do all the time. It's so much easier to use the program because you don't have to figure out everything on paper, it does it for you! Even what containers/ziplocs to use!!

I completely understand washing her clothes, Allyson's best friend's parents smoke and whenever she stays over there everything she brings home smells like smoke! GROSS!!

A flashlight is good to have so that if you're in Indy, you can get the CM to show you where the Eeyore sign is. Sometimes they don't have one with them.

You know what happens with the ponchos, if we don't bring them we will need them; if we bring them we won't need them. So EVERYONE BRING PONCHOS!

When I come home from Vegas I wash ALL my clothes--whether they were worn or not--for the same reason.
