UPDATED: Are you driving to Port Everglades? Now with map and codes

The 9/9 Wonder is definitely leaving from Port Everglades. There's a chance that the 9/11 Magic will need to as well.

Port Everglades is less than two miles from the Fort Lauderdale airport so you can use FLL as your drop-off location if you're renting a car one way.

Directions from I-95: Take I-595 East. I-595 East runs right into the port. Very easy.

These rental car companies have locations at FLL and will shuttle you to the cruise terminals: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.

Remember that most of the major car rental agencies will let you rent from one location in Florida and drop off at another location without paying drop-off fees. Verify the total price to make sure.

Also, since these are the airport offices for a major airport, they have much better facilities for handling major influxes of business than the Cape Canaveral offices do.

As far as hotels, use Priceline or Hotwire and select the FLL airport zone. You should be fine.

We are renting from Thrifty, and they told us not to use the airport location...they said the one on Miami Road (just a tip for anyone else who might be renting through them...they had the best rate I could find).

I called Budget, they said that the Quay shopping center has shuttles to the port, but that the airport location does not. So, I contacted National and spoke with the necest gentleman. For no charge, the airport definitely has shuttles to the port. Average wait is apx 5 to 10 mins.

Dave, you are awesome!
I was scrambling for info. yesterday...I know the Magic cruisers are gonna love having it at their fingertips. And I am printing out the map as we walk out the door. It's so nice to know that Thrifty is close to the port...I had no idea where anything is located in relation to anything out there.

Does anyone know if the Quay shopping center is the one pictures on Dave's map?

We are sailing next week and I HOPE we get to sail out of PC, but just in case we are trying to figure out our options. We have a car rented through Budget right now that we are suppose to drop off at PC, but maybe we can switch it to a drop off at PE.

Dave, thanks for the great info! I'm a Type A travel planner, and changing ports has blown what little mind I have left!

This is my question.. On National's website, it give two locations...FLL and Port Everglades, with the same address. One offers more services than the other (Emerald Aisle, etc).

Does anyone know what gives?

We're seriously thinking of utilizing the shuttle buses down (we're going to WDW, but taking a RCCL cruise) but renting a car after disembarking in the interest of saving time and hurrying back to Orlando to go to Universal. I want to be on the Hulk screaming like a banshee by 1:00pm!
