05/02/2002-LATEST UPDATE by Pete on DIS-CON-II.

I absolutely, positively want to see and get a classical view of MainStreet and the castle of the Magic Kingdom's Spectromagic and Fantasy In the Sky Fireworks with the castle in the background. Last year, the dates were limited to Saturday only and we had the most excellent EPCOT's French Island, Illuminations dessert party then. But this year I have to see it.

So here are the dates that I'll be at Walt Disney World during the 2002 DIS-Convention "A Gathering of Friends".

{SPECIAL NOTE:Official 2002 DIS-CON-II events are listed in the color limegreen and UNofficial DIS mini-meets are listed in the color green and non-DIS-meets, or undecided things, or other stuff listed in the color blue.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Haul out the holly, Put up the tree before my spirits fall again..."

I love your enthusiaam Ray!!! I can hardly wait!!! I AM staying at the Swan (got my ressies already!) so I look forward to seeing your balcony a lot !!!
(could you let me know when you are about to put them up so I can watch?!?!:D )

I won't be down there as long as you (my family Christmas will still need attention and DH can only work from home so many days) but I plan on making the most of every moment that I am there (totally solo!!!!).

Are you by any chance coming up for Patrick Con in July?
Corinne:wave:

Thank you, Emma and Corriene.

It only took me two days and nights to finally get through all the "server busy" delays. I did all the work on the technical board before I put it over here...hahaha.

No..I'm not that excited!

And I'm very, very patient...NOT...lol...hahaha.

I'll put the decorations up after I get settled, I hope. I will be coming off a 12-hour shift of work without sleep, so I may take a nap first...hahaha.

I'm saving all my vacation time for WDW.

I work every week-end, now...so its hard to take off on the week-ends like a normal person or I would love to go.

Let the excitement continue!!!!

RaySharpton :)

singing "Fa-la-la-la-laaaaaaa, la-la-la-la..." :D

'Tis the season to be jolly......'

Ray, I'm just going to cut and paste your itinerary and use it as my own, because I want to be with you during DIS-Con--AND--this looks fabulous. :) I've been saying all along, I wouldn't change very much from last year at all. Everything worked out beautifully. The only thing that needs changing is I need a couple more nights. :D

Corinne, what day shall we start decorating for Christmas? :D

Emma, you are in for a real treat!!!! :)

Hi, Tia!

I think that all your posting last year here on the DIS-CON boards got me so exited that I decided to work harder to go.

Remember when I was so afraid that weren't going to reopen the events only registration.

You, Patinmn, Livia, Steve and so many others left so many posts to wake me up...hahaha.

I think that it will be a glorious time with so many things to do and not enough hours in the day. I missed JellyRolls and Towncrier's Adventurer's Club last year because I ws worn out.

So many DIS friends to meet, both old and new. So much laughing, smiling, grinning, crying for joy (Barb at CP and CC).

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

RaySharpton :)

Funny you should post your itinerary today, Ray - because it sure looks like Christmas at my house with all the snow! :D I can't wait to go to MVMCP again (hope I can stay awake until the end next time!) and enjoy the Candlelight Processional. :)

/
Ray, start practicing staying up late. You and Dayna should start a support group. Perhaps you could pick one night per week to practice staying up late. You could PM, IM, e-mail, or even call eachother throughout the night to make sure the other one is still awake. :D

 Hi Nancy. I was just asking someone about you about 10 minutes ago. Happy to see you. :)

That was weird reading your post, Tia. I've always worked nights and can stay up pretty long hours. I just realized that I used that excuse of "I'm tired" when I don't think that I can walk a certain distance because I'm starting to feel my right leg start to feel pain and numb. Then I question whether I can make it back to my resort without asking for help.

I'll try to change my thinking and response next time.

After the opening reception, I didn't think that I could walk from the Beach Club to watch Illuminations and then
to Jelly Rolls. I did the same thing at the holiday tour at the Contemporary, too. I even did it to UncleKyle and Dan Murphy last September leaving the MK's Space Mountain.

But after that, I just rented that stupid scooter and it was the difference between night and day for going long distances.

I guess that I was afraid that I would be to slow and hold up the rest of the group, too.

Ray,
I promise to be helpful (if I can stay awake!) Unlike you, I do go to be early so these late night events wear me out. I am hopeful that this year we won't have breakfast with the rosters so that should help!

 Duh! I should have remembered that you work those horrible hours. ;)

And about that dumb scooter......I could have easily used one myself. :o My feet and legs never gave out, but I could have used the rest. :o

I feel I have been sluffing off Ray if you had to do the Itinerary :(

I hope I haven't been fired...LOL

Actually I really haven't done anything with mine until they post the official information....plus I have been concentrating on getting ready to go to Hawaii next week.

Hopefully we will hear something soon....just a little info...last year when I went to Hawaii they opened up registration...maybe it will happen again this year. So who wants to register me if they open it up while I am gone?

I'll be happy to register for you and Roger, Patrick!

You guys' enthusiasm is catching, by the by. Soon it will be spring, then summer, then fall, then time for DIS-Con! I'm saving all my vacation time for November/December as well.....but it sure is difficult not to give in and take a day or so off here and there.

Hi, Steve! You beat me to it. Glad to see you around. I guess since DIS-CON-II is my next big vacation, I'm kinda getting excited.

I'm trying to arrange a beach vacation on my regular days off, though.

Are you going to host the Aladdin ride and Christmas Processional again?

And Patrick, you are the King of itineraries...hahaha...I just learned from you.

Have a wonderful trip, Patrick!

And Steve, I hope that you plan a great vacation, too.

Boy, Hawaii sounds great.

Ray :)

Sure, I can host the Candlelight Processional again. Is there going to be anything new at the Magic Kingdom, since most of us have already done Aladdin? No? Didn't think so. Maybe they'll put in Haunted Mansion Holiday like they did at Disneyland last Christmas. That would be pretty cool.

I don't think we need another Fantasyland meet, but maybe we could take a day to ride some of our favorites: HM, PoC, Pooh, BTMRR, SM, JC, Dumbo (but of course! ;) ), Buzz, etc. :)

Well, maybe we should save the rides that are open for MVMCP for that night and hit the other 'smaller' rides. :)

Ugh, this Commando may have to come out of retirement. ;)

SM=Small World?

If that's the case, Tia.....

I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! :p

::insert gagging sounds::

:D

Uh, Steve,

I believe SM is Space Mountain. That other "smaller" ride is TEDDR, "That Evil Demon Doll Ride."

::insert even more gagging sounds::

Ray if a scooter makes it easier for you to do more and not hurt yourself. DO IT MAN!!!!!! My Commando day at MGM is lets pick all the stuff we think we can do and go for it. End the day at the Lights and or Fantasmic more the better!!! I doubt anyone of us would think bad of you. We do not need to really hurt ourselves just gleefully tired.:D

DaveH:

Why in the world would anyone "think bad" of Ray for having a scooter. They are called ECV's , the "C" standing for convenience.....so, I just don't get it. If someone wants to spring for the expense....to save their legs and feet and keep up with the strong-legged folks....who should have anything to say about it? I think its a great idea....it doesnt mean you're disabled (not that THAT is anything to be ashamed of), to me it means that walking long distances hurts your feet or legs too much, simple as that. I wouldnt hesitate to get an ECV if I wanted to do some commando "parking" with folks that have more "lower-extremity" stamina :)

And if the reason is that there might not be any left for folks who need them.....Im sure that wouldnt be a problem at that time of year.....also, you can rent them off-site (free delivery and pickup). Go for it Ray!
