Update: Thanks for help but now this Front Load Washer is having problems.......

Ours from lowe's were delivered this morning and DH has our king size blankets washed and dried - they came out great! He has done a ton of wash today. So quiet, so little water used and the clothes are so clean and smell great.

I think I'm going to go with this pair. I tried to find a mover's kit at the post office to score a 10% off coupon but now you sign up online and the coupon is emailed to you in about a week. I'm not sure I should wait. The deal seems to be the talk of a lot of other forums.

You will like them......

Our bonus today is that our old washer/dryer that we listed on craigslist sold 4 hours after our new ones were delivered today. We got $350 for our 10 year old washer/dryer. :) Putting that right toward the new ones...

If you sign up for a Lowe's card, they will give you 5%. They wouldn't let me combine the two though.

The sanitize cycle does great for football clothes. Haven't had it long enough for baseball yet. My sons wear their practice uniforms all week and bring home on the weekend to be cleaned. I put them on that cycle, two hours later they are cleaned without any soaking, multiple rinses or scrubbing with a brush--no bleach also.

I have last years model Kenmore branded LG that is the equivalent of the first model posted in this thread (mine is screaming red, was a clearance markdown...got the W/D pair with the stack kit for about $1K) and I really like it. I don't find myself using most of the available cycles, but I love, love, LOVE the sanitize cycle for the dog beds and my DDs favorite blanket (which gets dragged...and I mean literally dragged!...everywhere).

I'll second what someone else said about having to keep the door on the washer ajar or it smells, and quickly! What I've done, since we have a small laundry room that also serves as the main entryway from our garage, is put one of those foam bumpers for childproofing (you know, the kind that hooks onto the edge of the door to stop doors from closing and pinching fingers) on the door of the washer. It keeps the door from closing all the way, but it allows me to have it open only a few inches instead of all the way. It works GREAT! Just a thought for anyone struggling with that problem on their front-load washer.

Well I'm more confused than ever! I talked to some friends who informed me that they don't like there front loaders :confused3

I looked at the HE top loader but I just don't get how it can clean with very little water and no agitator.

Two ideas, you could find a Rent a Center or Aaron's and see if you can rent one for a week and see how you like it (or them).

Or you could talk with the salesman at one of the stores and ask about your ability to return or exchange if you aren't completely happy with it.

I can tell you that I love my front loader. It definitely gets my clothes clean. Add to this, we are on a well and have a septic system. The smaller amount of water used is a win-win for me. Our clothes smell and look clean.

Bearing failure is also a problem on front loaders. Repair of this is expensive and often the smartest choice is replacement in this situation.

The average life of a front loader is 6 years.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I ended up going with the Lowe's Samsung front loader set and I splurged and bought the pedestals too (which I hated to do but my husband insisted). I also bought a 10% off movers coupon from someone off eBay for $2 so my total came to $1300. I ordered them online Saturday night and they were delivered this morning.

I'm off to rip the sheets off my bed & give them a test run. And I need to call Lowe's because I didn't get my drying rack.

please tell us what you think Im just about to pull the trigger on this set

We washed everyone's bedding, curtains and tons of clothes so far and am still very happy with them. The clothes are clean, the bedding smells great. I even washed the covers from the one couch the dog is allowed on. In the old washer that needed two cycles - with the sanitize cycle on the new washer they were great!

I only washed one load, I'm waiting for DD18 to bring down her waste high mountain of clothes and then we'll give it a full workout. But so far, it definitely cleaned better than my 15 year old washer. My clothes smelled great. It does take more time than I'm used too but that's because it's new to me and I sat and watched it some for the spin cycle to make sure it didn't spin off the pedestal.

So far I like it and I'm pleased. :lovestruc

Are you happy you bought the pedestals ? It kills me to spend 400 on that! Did you get the extended warranties. Im tempted just to get it on the dryer since I read online they have problems with the heater element.

Thanks again!

I am happy with the pedestals and it also killed me to buy them too. I HATED spending the money but my husband insisted because he didn't want to hear me complain a week after and then he would be stuck attaching the pedestals. And he was right, without them it's just too much bending over to do laundry.

I did not buy the Lowe's extended warranty. I do plan on buying a Squaretrade warranty on black Friday though. Lowe's wanted $196 for 4 years (for the washer and the dryer). Squaretrade will be $130 for 5 years (for both). I'm pretty sure there will be some breakdown in the next 5 years, so it will definitely be worth it. Not to mention the varying reviews I've read online.

Good luck in your decision, my local Lowe's has already sold out of all their stock so you might want to check that.
