Update! Tarzan Rocks Closing -Replacement Rumor on pg 8!

Add us to those who love the show, myself, dh, and two dd's (5 & 7). We go everytrip love the music, skaters and acrobats, very high energy. But we also like very much Pocahontis totally opposite in show styles.
We'll miss it I hope we can get one more trip in so we dont' miss it.But I wouldn't mind a new show (hope it's not jungle book), I have a vague memory of it and wasn't thrilled.

I'm someone who has never liked Phil Collins, except for the Tarzan music.
Also special meaning because one of my dd's is adopted, and I find the story beautiful. I like positive adoption type stories.

The noise FROM EE? Last summer DH and I were walking along the path from Asia toward Dinoland while a performance of Tarzan Rocks was going on. From where we were, it was so loud, we wondered how anyone could stand the noise if they were IN the theater. I wonder how loud they expect EE to be if it might interfere with Tarzan Rocks.

The noise level inside the theater...I was surprised my ears didn't start bleeding. It was so loud, it was painful! Had I not been in the middle of a row, I would have left. Instead I tried to hold my ears as discretely as possible. Add DH and me (but not DD7) to the list of folks glad to see TR go.

Add us to those who were deeply disappointed by this show. We had a very short visit in January to WDW and were trying to just hit some highlights. Since we'd done (and enjoyed) Lion King on our previous visit nearly 5 years earlier, we decided to try Tarzan this time since my boys are rollerbladers and I'd heard this was much of the show.

Seemed like we were halfway through the show before we ever saw a rollerblader or even Tarzan himself. Sorry - but none of us really even understood the show and were OVERWHELMED by the volume. I would have loved to have left too, but thought they made an announcement at the beginning that you weren't supposed to leave because of the rollerbladers going around the audience. The implication was that if it was an emergency, they'd help you leave, but otherwise you shouldn't. My boys and I were all holding our ears. We were really unhappy we'd missed Lion King for that!

Variety is the spice in life! We LOVE Tarzan Rocks...right up there with Lion King and B&B, although we always relly disliked Hunchback- best part was the long nap I could take while the kids watched the show! I will be SO BUMMED if this show disappears...

Good riddance to Tarzan! We absolutely despised the show (DW "liked" Tarzan though... he obviously works out a little bit). Like others, I couldn't believe how loud it was, DS2 held his ears through the whole show. We like the Tarzan movie and the music, but this show was just dreadful. We would have got up and left but we were right on the aisle where the rollerbladers where, and didn't feel like getting run over.

I never saw the previous Jungle Book show, but hopefully the new show will be better.

(And we thought we were the only ones that hated "Tarzan S-cks".)

Oh thank God! This show was the one unanimous 'thumbs down' in our group of nine people.....(well, that and the silly Indy cars in MK)...but I digress.

We saw this show on our last day....it was such a waste of time. It almost made us decide to skip the Festival of the Lion King....my boys were begging, "No more loud, boring shows"......but thankfully, we did go ahead and see FOTLK, which was so much better I can't even explain...

Adios Tarzan!! Good decision, imo!

We liked the Tarzan show but won't miss it too much. I just hope that Disney doesn't close this down and then never replace it with anything.

I think that many of the WDW shows are dangerously loud. I would love for OSHA or the Florida State equivalent to come in and do sound readings/inspections...the CMs would probably get additional compensation for hearing loss!

Uh, Agnes, have you been to a rock concert recently?

Good music is not for everybody. That´s why they are closing the best live show on property. The performers are the best in all Orlando, specially the females and they sing much, much, much better than Phill Collins. The music is not loud, it is just perfect for this kind of show.

Come on, all of you who don´t like the show. You don´t know what good music is, good harmonies, lyrics, rythm, fantastic singers.

I suggest you keep listening to the trash that you are used to and keep the good music for those who can understand it....

BOO HOO! Tarzan is my favorite show! I like it better than the Lion King, which is also a good show. However, I think it's a great idea that the theater will be enclosed, though. Last time I saw the show, it had rained and the roller skating portion of the show was cancelled due to slippery walkways. We were very disappointed.

YEAH! WHAT HE SAID!
We have no clue what good music is JUST because we don't like Tarzan Rocks. We are so uncultured. ;)

This is an interesting thread.

I had no idea that many people would find Tarzan too loud. It didn't seem that loud to me.

My husband and son absolutely hated Tarzan Rocks. They had been and walked out years ago, but I finally saw it in January this year. I thought it was odd and confusing, but interesting.

At first, I thought the fat guy in the boots who was singing was supposed to be Tarzan, so I was confused. It seemed like they never introduced anyone and I thought that perhaps I was supposed to know who they were...I didn't.

It improved when Tarzan finally appeared. :earseek:

By the way, I'm not too fond of the Fesatival of the Lion King either. I think it has more to do with the attitude of the CMs I have encountered there than the actual show. I know that that section of the park is supposed to be like a summer camp, but are the CMs supposed to take on the guise of grouchy burned-out camp workers. (I thought maybe it was like HM)

Shortly before reading this thread I read the one entitled "Talk about magic moments" by MommytoMJM" It had me a little weepy. Each to his own opinion about the show, but obviously the cast members of this show are mindful of opportunities to create that "disney magic" ! :)

What? I didn't know Scott Savol was in this show! :rotfl:

Okay, I so hope that you are kidding. Really.

So, as disclaimer, I actually like Phil Collins. I also am a university professor of music, have several recordings out, and have been on TV and radio among other things. Just trying to establish that I might have a decent musical opinion (not that you need all that - it is, after all, POPULAR music, meaning it appeals to the masses). Hey, it IS catchy. And the musicians are fine - they do a totally decent job with what they've been given for the most part. But I feel that I need to point out that they are THEME-PARK SINGERS. This is a THEME-PARK show. It's pretty decent musically. It's totally disjointed and weird from a story perspective. If you like Phil Collins and skateboarding, you will probably be entertained, and judging by some posts here, maybe you'll love it. But to imply that NOT liking theme-park versions of Phil Collins also including skating monkeys and arialists makes you someone who cannot appreciate and "understand" music is a bit far-fetched.

I will have to have a conversation with the department about starting a new music appreciation class: Understanding music; Forget classical, jazz, world, modern, and contemporary music. Everything you need to know is summed up in theme-park Phil Collins. If you can possibly understand it.

All the music majors could graduate after one class. :rotfl:

IMO the only thing wrong with this show is its name as it tends to make people think the show will be something other than what they are expecting. I like it.

Slightly Goofy (who is a whole bunch deaf so noise doesn't bother her)

I WAS going to accuse Silvio of working for the Diplomatic Corps - untill I read this:

We finally saw Tarzan Rocks when we went in January and liked it much more than we thought we would. We saw FOTLK for the first time the same day and enjoyed Tarzan much more. To each his own, I guess, except I'll be sorry TR will be the show to go.
