Update! Tarzan Rocks Closing -Replacement Rumor on pg 8!

I dragged DH across the park to see this...as it was something we had never done.

They start...during the first song, I'm thinking "this is kinda corny"...then, about 5 minutes in, an announcement says that "this show has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances" and all the people/singers drop their stuff and head off stage.

no one is moving...I'm thinking "is this part of the show?" then CM's start herding people out of the theater.

so I guess i saved myself 20 more minutes of blech? heheh (FTR - I never saw the Tarzan movie...)

I could watch FOTLK all day though....and I mean ALL DAY - OK? OKAY!

Wow! I am one of the few that are shocked that so many people don't like Tarzan Rocks!! DH and I just saw the show again yesterday and we really enjoyed it, just as we have time and time before. I love the dancing and the energy of the show, and the music. I will be really sad to see this show close.

This rumor is music to my ears! We suffered through that show in Feb and vowed never to see it again. Looks like our wish will be granted. Although I will say that Tarzan Rocks proved some pretty good laughs for DW and me... because in the middle of this wannabe-rock concert / X Games show is the greatest of all head-bobbing characters. I don't even know his name, but I know the character seemed a bit out of place in that show. Kudos to Disney for realizing they can put that stage to much greater use!

Dang! This is bad news. DD4 and I love Tarzan Rocks (as well as my mom, sister, and every other woman I know that has seen this show). My next trip isn't until October, so I guess I'm going to miss seeing it one last time. Tarzan Rocks is my favorite WDW show and my favorite thing at AK after the safari.

Wow, I'm shocked so many people disliked the show. I cant believe how so many people don't LOVE listening to about 25 minutes of some of the BEST disney music to ever be created.

Phil Collins' score is probably right near the top of the best ever, and the removal of this show, which is one of the few things teens love (rock and extreme stunts) at AK, will be missed.

I will miss it. If you don't get chills enjoying the music, you're not really into the Disney magic.

Accept it is not Phil Collins singing. Add our family to the "not dissappointed upon hearing the news".

We also didn't like the show. And we love everything Disney. This is the only thing Disney we've ever not liked at all. It made me cringe to watch it because I was embarrassed for the performers. Only Phil Collins can sing Phil Collins.

MousePlanet.com is reporting that Tarzan Rocks will be closing in September. Because of the noise that Expedition Everest will create, the theater will be renovated to be completely air-conditioned and enclosed. There will (possibly) be a new Jungle Book show when the theater re-opens. The Tarzan Rocks show will be shipped off to Hong Kong Disneyland.

The noise FROM EE? Last summer DH and I were walking along the path from Asia toward Dinoland while a performance of Tarzan Rocks was going on. From where we were, it was so loud, we wondered how anyone could stand the noise if they were IN the theater. I wonder how loud they expect EE to be if it might interfere with Tarzan Rocks.

I love Tarzan Rocks! Love, love, love, love it! I am so sad! Please, let it be a nasty rumor with no basis in fact!

I totally agree ::yes::!

Count me in as someone else who loves Tarzan Rocks. I was always impressed with the performers Disney had singing the Phil Collins songs (saw 2 different ones) and really liked the Tarzan I saw last August -- What eye candy! Al least I hope it's still playing in July. That alone will get me to visit AK!

We loved Tarzan Rocks!! The music from the Tarzan movie is among my favorite ... but I am a sappy-emotional cry-baby so the whole parent/child bond thing gets me every time. DH, both children (ages 5 and 7) and I love the show and it is a "must see" for us.

But I do enjoy change and am anxious to see what will be taking its place. ::yes::

I don't hate the show, but it is my least favorite one of those types of shows at WDW. The movie was pretty good and I like the music from it, but I can't stand the character Terk. She and the Queen of Hearts are the only 2 characters that really give me the heebie jeebies. I go the other way in the parks when I see either of them.

The thing I like most about the show is the skaters - especially the one who does a complete back flip on the ramp without curling up his body. I always watch for that. And I did enjoy Tarzan and Jane doing their acrobatics. And while the music in the show is kind of cheesy, my husband who is a musician really enjoyed getting to see some live musicians in a show. But overall, if this rumor proves true, I will be glad to see something new.

I love the Phil Collins music from Tarzan the movie but I hated the Tarzan Rocks show. The singer we saw was really cheezy in a washed up, wanna be rock star kind of way, he was just terrible.

That's great news! We hate Tarzan Rocks too, and I felt so wistful the other day when my ds 2 was watching one of the old planning videos and we saw what must have been the old Jungle Book show. We never got to see it, and ds was asking and asking to see it at disney world.

I'm not a big Phil Collins fan either, but I certainly thought Tarzan was, um, easy on the eyes ... ::yes::

Here's a question for those of you who said that you "suffered" through the show. Why didn't you just get up and leave? Since this is not a ticketed event, you're not losing any money . . . :confused3

I wasn't in love with the show, but my kids sure were. On the other hand, some ac in Animal Kingdom sounds pretty good to me!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Please dont take away that show..!

WE LOVE IT!!!

Exactly! I love the music from Tarzan, just not when the TR performers sing it! My husband and I hated this one so much we left early and continue to this day to refer to the show as "Tarzan Sucks."

Although...the part about seeing hottie Tarzan soaring around did have some appeal! :goodvibes
