As always, Pixar is planning to unveil a short film in front of their upcoming theatrical release of "Up" on May 29th. All we knew about the short was that it's called "Partly Cloudy" and is directed by Peter Sohn, who worked as an animator on several previous Pixar films and voiced Emile in "Ratatouille."
Now, thanks to Disney's premiere issue of Twenty-Three magazine [via The Pixar Blog], we have the plot for "Partly Cloudy."
In the short, clouds are essentially baby factories, where babies are made out of "fluffy white stuff." Each cloud has a stork assigned to deliver the babies produced. The protagonist is a cloud named Gus who makes the "tougher babies" like alligators and porcupines. Peck is Gus' stork who's grown tired of having to deliver all the tough babies and wants to move on to softer ones like kittens and humans. The climax is when Gus thinks Peck quit in search of easier deliveries.
Apparently, the magazine also contains a photo of Gus and Peck. Unfortunately Twenty-Three will not be released until later this Spring. Stay tuned.
