I just got an email from Peggy Fisher regarding the status of things at Vero.
Below is her email to me (which is reiterated in her Seaside Scoop column):
Please continue to keep her and all those effected by the storms in your thoughts and prayers.

Hi Chris:
Heres the update I got this AM re Disney from a Cast Member and Security guard. I have a couple of photos but havent had a chance to upload from my camera yet. (will send when I do). They dont really show that much of the damage which is inside the units according to my sources. They stressed for owners to please be patient; they are doing the work slowly to make sure its done right. Its harder doing the fixes since they are dealing with double damage from Frances and Jeanne. However, my moneys on Disney; they will probably beat their target to reopen in a month. They did after Frances, opening 15 days ahead of first projections. This time they are hosting a lot of workers here from across FL and the U.S. to help us, as rooms are nearly impossible to get. We tried to come back to the Vero Beach Inn after evacuation to Kissimmee, and they were completely full, and if they got any vacancies, they would go to emergency workers.
Hope to keep you posted from the Coast.
Disney Updates: Disney is hoping to reopen again in about one monthby Thanksgiving, which would certainly be a reason for gratitude. Comcast Cable men reiterated what wed heard beachside after Frances that Disneys influence helps us get back power and cable service faster; thanks Disney! Cast member John reports there has been additional water and flooding damage on ocean-side units, making repairs more difficult fixing double damages. This time the seaside access stairs are totally breached, and will probably have to be rebuilt. Disney is hosting FPL repairmen and linemen from far away as well as Army Corp of Engineers who are helping the hard-hit Treasure Coast recover.
Happy to be home with PowerCheers from Vero Beach,
Peggy
