Just for those who were so kind on my first thread. I couldn't track it down, so please excuse the update on a new thread. I know someone was remembering him on another thread of mine.

S. has been out of my class for the past three weeks. I'm not entirely clear on why. He's been spending some time in the office and some time in the behavior room, but as far as I know he's still in my class officially (they haven't moved him to B.I.)

The latest information is that the school contacted the pediatrician to get them on board with pushing for testing. The papers are now signed, though there's more paper work to be done. From what I hear, they're hoping to get him tested come spring. In the mean time, someone, somewhere has bent and I'll be getting a full time aid for S. as soon as we can hire someone. This may take another two weeks or longer, but the funding is there.

I'm very glad, S. should be in the class with us and with an aid he'll be just fine. Hopefully next year the diagnosis (what ever it may be) will be in place and his funding and his aid will be set to go from September.

This is great news! I never posted on the other thread but I read the whole thing because I am having a similar problem and was interested in your situation. Thank you for taking time to post an update!

I didn't read your original thread, but want to say anyway that I'm glad to hear S. is going to get support he needs. :)

If it's the thread I'm thinking of, you got a lot of grief on that thread it's just as well it wasn't brought back up. I'm glad to hear the update and that things are going much better for you and S. :thumbsup2

And if it's not the same thread, maybe that OP will read this one and see there may be hope at the end of the tunnel for her situation, too. :goodvibes

Great news!! I know firsthand how devastating it is to hear your child has autism. But it's even more devastating to imagine a child who is undiagnosed, and therefore not receiving all the help he/she needs.

I'm glad for you and for the child. :) I can't imagine how you have held up all this time! Thanks for the update!

Thanks for sharing the news and it sounds like a positive step forward in ensuring that S gets the assistance he needs.
It must be a very difficult situation for the parents.

Hugs to you all:grouphug:
