Update on the Disney Fantasy?

Hey all!

Has anyone been on the Fantasy recently? When I was last on it (April 2022) it had this horrible stuttering/jittery/chugging motion/feeling every time we were moving. I was told that this was related to an engine problem Disney had not been able to fix (at least at the time). Is it still an issue?

Definitely want to avoid the Fantasy if it is.

We were on the Fantasy just last week for a 7 night cruise and did not feel any of this at all! We felt the normal vibrations in Animators and a little bit when porting but absolutely nothing at any other times.

Would highly recommend the Fantasy!!

I second this. We were on the Fantasy in January in a room between the midship and aft elevators and noticed no excessive vibrations. I couldn’t even tell if we had left port without looking outside.

Wonder and Fantasy have had rattling issues for years. It does not happen all the time - mainly when the ships are sailing full-speed ahead, for example Wonder going out of Galveston or Fantasy on a Western itinerary - and can only be felt in aft staterooms. The last Fantasy dry dock didn’t solve the issue. Pick a mid or front stateroom and you won’t notice it.

It is also connected to the use of the stabilizers (and ocean currents). Rough seas with stabilizers makes more vibrations. We always stay in the aft of the Fantasy and still feel the vibrations, but it is not constant and some trips barely noticeable. An officer on this ship I talked to mentioned the stabilizers.... so I take his explanation as believable. People have talked about this for years. We don't mind it.

First time we were on the Fantasy we had an aft cabin. It was horrible, our cabin shook so much it felt like we were on a giant jack hammer. We've sailed on the Fantasy 5 more times in midship cabins and have never had the issue in them.

I booked the Fantasy VGT and got surprised with an aft room and wrap around balcony. Now I’m thinking this is a room that will experience a lot of vibration and creeping. :(

We were also on the Fantasy last week (2/25-3/4) and can report the same!

I haven't seen any bad reports about the cabins at the very back of the ship. It doesn't seem to affect all aft cabins. Our cabin was right across from the aft elevators.

We book the cabins in the complete back with the wrap around balconies all the time. Like I said earlier, we still experience some of the vibrations, some trips more noticeable than others. We were there in January with some vibrations.

As an aside...how do you manage to get those rooms? That's our favorite type to book on Carnival, but when I've looked on Disney they all seemed to be reserved for ADA rooms or not available at all.

Was on the Fantasy last September and I agree with others. You could feel the vibrations if you were in some aft parts of the ship, but we had a forward stateroom and had no issues there.

The type of non-stop shaking we had wasn't the normal vibrations that you get on ships. The person I was replying to has the type of cabin like you stay in. I was letting them know our cabin wasn't in that area. Glad to hear the very back just has the normal vibrations because I love the bigger verandahs, but haven't wanted to book it on the Fantasy because of how bad our previous cabin was.

It's up to you if you believe it or not, but I've been told that the reason the Fantasy shakes so much is that they broke a maritime tradition when she was christened. It's a "curse."

What tradition would that be?

If you watch the video on YouTube, it was Minnie who broke the bottle of champagne and not the godmother (Mariah Carey). I was told on here that is against tradition and some claim that is why the Fantasy has had more issues with rattling.

Like I said, it's up to you if you believe that but it's a theory that's out there.

We've been on the Fantasy twice, mid-ship, didn't feel a thing.

We really noticed vibration on the Wonder but not on the Fantasy this last Oct doing a Western Caribbean. I was kind of shocked how smooth that cruise was. Our cabin was midship but just overall I felt the Fantasy was much smoother than the classic ships though I love them too.

Ack, how bad is it on the Wonder? We have a cruise on the Wonder in August with a room fairly aft and now I'm a bit worried about the vibrations. We've never stayed so far aft before.
