If you remember, I'm the poster who had a rough January and had to do my first no-buy month just to survive. My teenaged daughters and I actually ended up enjoying it, and it brought us closer!

We also made it through February with flying colors --- we are baking a LOT, making dinners together almost every night (trying lots of new recipes that we find online) and making crafts like we used to when they were little (thanks to Pinterest!). We are getting a lot of work done on the house, and the girls are selling things on a Facebook page (a county-wide "garage sale" of sorts).

A woman who used to babysit for my girls has just started working at my school. Her youngest daughter is in her early 20s, and she's been giving my DDs hand-me-downs. All Hollister, Abercrombie, etc -- places that I never even shopped with them before! :cool1:

The best news? We have a change jar half-filled with bills and change for our trip to Universal, and I have a little over $500 in our vacation fund in the bank already!!!

I couldn't have done it without this board. I'm hoping I don't encounter any major budget busters anytime soon, because I'm so optimistic about this!!

Congratulations! I'm glad it all worked out so good for you. I think attitude plays a huge part when life gives you lemons! You and your girls even made it fun and beneficial, good for you! Here's to continued success!!!

It's amazing the impact of cutting back. We did no-buys in January and February, too. We put money into our IRAs (from DH's bonus), paid for our June Beach Club room (UK Expedia deal), and airfare for five (using lots of points and leftover credits). We just used our pay checks for all of it--no dipping into savings, which I think is awesome!

WOW! This is great! What a positive outcome. Just think of the lesson your children are learning that no amount of money could buy them. Thanks for sharing your update:)
