I feel for you! Funny MIL story, in the same vein (actually both, MILs and yardwork). WHen we were in ORL in October I pick up a voicemail from MIL. SHe had ran into our sometime yard man (we call him for major projects, we have 2.5 acres) and he had mentioned that he hadn't heard from us in a while. She told him we were out of town, he suggests/asks how would we react if he "surprised" us by coming out and doing another major clean out to the lake for us (cost us close to $1000 last time). She says sure, go for it, they'll love it. This is what I get in the voice mail!
DH is livid, I have to call the yard guy and tell him the yard looks fine, then call MIL and ask her if she wants to fork out the $1000?
The PP is correct about oleanders, extremely poisonous. I remember an old (and I mean old) movie from the 40's where a guy (Vinvent Price I think) tries to poison his wife by putting oleanders all over her bed room so she can inhale the fragrance.
