Update on my mother

She had a triple bypass one week ago. She did very well with the surgery and recovery so far. I believe I told you she is 87, so it was a real blessing that she has done so well. The only problem is that she is so weak. They would send her home now, but are concerned about how weak she is. They have suggested that we leave her in the hospital for 2 weeks of rehab. Unfortunately, she has had some problem with being in the hospital so long. At night she tends to roam around and gets disoriented. I'm afraid that she may continue having that problem if she has to stay an extended time in the hospital. I would appreciate all your prayers.

Rehab is very important for older folks after a hospital stay, since for every one day they spend in bed, they need about 3 days of rehab to regain that strength and function.

Can you afford to pay someone to stay with her at night, so if she does wander, she has someone to help her? Or are there family and friends who might be willing to take turns staying with her at night, so she sees "familiar" faces? That might lessen her confusion.

Good to hear your mom's progress, Carl, and she had a good surgery. I was going to add as did Disney Doll, family or frinds maybe, able to rotate and support. In any case, my good thoughts and prayers continue, just good to hear she is coming along.
