Thought everyone might be interested in this. I believe if enough people sent emails/letters to Disney management/DVC we might see this happen eventually.

Mouseinfo.com Ask Marcie topic, she is in management at DLR. Here are her comments on DVC .

Q: "My question: Are there plans to expand the Grand Californian to add more rooms?"

A: There are plans, but not sure if and when they will be acted upon. From the outset of the hotel's opening there was always a phase 2 of the project to add another 250 rooms or 125 Disney Vacation Club time share units, but there are no immediate plans moving forward to build either option at this time. Funny, the hotel maintains on average a better 90% occupancy year-round and yet no expansion has been approved yet. Only time will tell.

Q: Also you answered an inquiry with an answer mentioning the Disney Vacation Club. I have always wondered, aside from local real estate law,why the DVC was not as prominantly advertisesed here in CA as in FLA."

A: DVC is restricted from doing certain types of advertisements within states due to varying laws in each state governing time shares. If a DVC unit is built in the future here at DLR, you will see some sort of DVC presence within the Resort advertising the time share sales of the Disney units. And the idea of building DVC units here at DLR certainly has been kicked around for the past few years.

I would love this!!! I stayed athe the GC before and adored it. I hope they go ahead with it sometime.

Thanks for the info!

Sure would love a DVC in California!

I would not use the points to stay at the resort there (due to point vs. cash). However, if there is a DVC resort, I would certainly be willing to use my points there.

We LOVE WDW, but we also like DL, some of the rides are better done than WDW.

Being only 35 min away from DL I would love that! I've stayed @ the GC before and it so beautiful. This would be perfect!

Newbie here with points at VB. Ken, do you have the original info on your conversation with 'Marcie from DLR?' Would love to read it through. Interesting she was willing to give up so much info on DVC at DLand - not typically Mouse House behavior.

I hear what others are saying about the exchange point value (EPV) - think they would ever come down? My family would be set if we could ever get to purchase a DVC at Dland. It would probably sell out like hotcake since it would be DVC's first foray into that area. I also think of all the other experiences we could do in the area - and some of the resorts we could stay in through II or the Concierge resort listing.

Here is the original thread. Its like 20 pages long. People would post questions, then she would come on and post answers once a week. It was great to hear about certain expansion rumors, openings, etc(such as Space Mountain opening early, middle of July, instead of the listed Nov.). I believe she has DL permision to post there.

If you notice, the DVC info wasn't too specific. More like throwing a bone to keep us in suspense.

Looks more like a "never say never" response to me.

I thought there are restrictions in California where it's not allowed to have timeshare developments with a specific end date? If that is correct, then DVC, in it's current set up, would not be allowed in California.

In the event you didn't know... DVC currently sells it FL based product to California residents. Now if a resort was to be added in CA, Disney would just go through the proper channels with the local governmental bodies. Other developers are selling in CA so I am sure DVC will be able to do it as well...

Here is the address to send a letter regarding the addition of DVC at DLR.

Send your correspondence regarding adding a DVC location to DLR to Matt Ouimet and/or Tony Bruno, Disneyland Resort, PO Box 3232, Anaheim, CA 92802-3232.

I believe Disney can put a DVC into California, they just can't advertise it in California except inside the DLR. Thus the difficulty of a DVC anywhere but DLR. With the addition of DCA, I think a DLR DVC would would sell out quicker than SSR.

I guess we would call them VGC(Villas Grand Californian).

Interesting thought but anyone can advertise anywhere with the right legal disclosure - look at medical ad's in magazines. If DVC ever "wants to" it would be able to advertise anywhere domestically. But the question is do they want to? Remember - all the dvc properties are in the Southeast....

While we would be thrilled to see DVC expand to DLR, I can't put a whole lot of faith in the source.
