I come across this information and thought I would post it. I understand much of it has already been mentioned in various other posts however I thought I would share it anyway.

In November, we shared plans to re-imagine Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney and bring other new and compelling experiences to life at Downtown Disney. Many of the experiences we announced have already become guest favorites, such as the newly expanded LEGO Imagination Center and AMC’s first fork and screen theater in Florida.

Work continues on bringing our vision for Downtown Disney to life and we are excited to announce two experiences that will be coming to Downtown Disney over the coming months:

Splitsville, a 50,000-square-foot upscale entertainment center that combines bowling with billiards, dining, music and nightlife;
Apricot Lane, a specialty retail store that offers celebrity-inspired branded apparel, affordable fashion jewelry, handbags and accessories.

Magnetron at Downtown Disney West Side will be closing at the natural end of the store’s contract Sept. 30

In place of Magnetron, a new operating participant will be joining the
Downtown Disney family: BLINK by Wet Seal
BLINK by Wet Seal brings fresh fashion to the Downtown Disney West Side, featuring apparel, denim and accessories for women, teens and children. At this denim destination, Guests will find anything from private label Wet Seal jeans to today’s top denim brands plus a wide assortment of tops and accessories.

Plus, later this fall, Sunglass Icon by Sunglass Hut at Downtown Disney West Side will undergo a complete transformation to become a flagship store, complete with cutting edge technology and the latest in sunglass fashion from around the world.

To make room for these additional venues and to build onto the progress that has already been made at Downtown Disney, Orlando Harley-Davidson has moved to its new permanent location on the West Side and RIDEMAKERZ will relocate to the Marketplace.

How exciting! They're going to turn what's left of DTD (including the west end) into another shopping mall that can be found anyplace in America! Looks like the magic continues to bleed out of Disney.

This is really unfair and I hope you take it back. All of these stores will be selling their merch at prices way higher than what you'll find at your local shopping mail.

THAT'S that Disney magic!

I wonder how long until they start charging parking by the hour at DTD.

It's coming, I will bet money on it.

Huh, never thought about DOWNTOWN DISNEY, a place to hangout and shop to be bringing in another store. It's also to get the locals coming. Ever been to City Walk? It's almost the same way. People are too expecting on these forums. And don't say "we expect it how it used to be" because sadly, that's the past.

Really??? It's too expecting to want to see the "Disney Difference" the company has sold us on for so many years instead of another shopping mall???

DTD had clubs, street performers, fireworks and more -- it was, in the end, still a essentially an outdoor mall but one that really had "the Disney Difference." That fact that it's "sadly" the past doesn't excuse the present, not does it justify the increasingly likely future.

There are still street performers, there are still shops, there are still clubs, there's a hot air balloon ride, there's atmosphere. Most of those things most outdoors malls DON'T HAVE. Disney makes an action to get more shopping and appeal to DTD and you're pretty much bashing it. Maybe these improvements will lead to more improvements, give the place another chance!

Oh well, as long as there are people who will patronize schlock Disney will give us nothing more and it's so obvious they aren't even hiding that fact anymore. They have a tethered balloon ride ... Ooohh Ahhh.

I hadn't thought about a DTD parking fee but talk about low hanging fruit.

I'm thinking there are lots of people who would find it totally acceptable if Disney just swapped the real animals for animatronic animals at AK and AKL, you know, like Jungle Cruise. Think of the saving$!!! Oh geez, I shouldn't have suggested that, should I?

Until people stop going and spending their money, nothing will change for the better. Don't like it? Don't go.

Downtown Disney has a few gems like Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express and also the Ghirardelli. But she they need to bring back Comedy Warehouse but not going to happen anytime soon.

I agree on bringing back the Comedy Warehouse. We took our kids to an early show way back when and it is still one of their favorite memories. Honestly, we haven't walked past the Lego store the past few times we've been there.

This is what I do...I refuse to spend my money at DTD until they bring the clubs back. (Though actually, next trip the LEGO store might make me a liar.)

The Walt Disney Company is one of the 30 Corporate entities that comprise the Dow Jones Industrial Average - the second oldest stock watch index that measures the stature and earning potential of american corporate might...

I have no idea why that blurted out right there...i don't even remember touching the keys:banana:
