We got the MRI results last week. He has 2 bulging discs in the lumbar area, low back. The discs are pushing inward toward the spine which is why he is having pain in both legs. He also has a tear in one of the bulging discs, not a good thing.
We have 3 steps to follow as well as the continued chiropractic treatment. the first is cortisone injections into the discs to reduce swelling. If that doesn't work then the next option is a hot injection. Basically the DR will stick a needle in his disc and heat it up, this will liquify the jelly in the disc, when he pulls the needle out and it cools the jelly should re-solidify and fill the tear. And the 3rd option is surgery. They have new replacement parts that are a lot like hip replacement pieces that have a ball joint so he would still have full mobility, unlike a fusion. DH is not keen on surgery at all, but it sounds like the new replacement pieces are the way to go if he still wants to move well.
We have a surgical consult on Nov 16 so I will know more after that.

So, I will be here to vent, scream, cry, and basically pull my hair out when he is driving me insane. So please bear with me in the coming months.
I will keep my status as Keeper of the Calendar but beyond that my hosting/swapping days will be severely limited.

You know I'll be here for you! Yell, vent and scream away... I'll help in anyway I can with what you are hosting now..and I'll help keep the calendar..

and my shovel still is available... when just need to flip the tag over to your DH's name instead of mine... :)

Vent and scream away. I'm so sorry to hear about your DH but hopefully one of the three choices will work and he will be back to new befor eyou know it.

 We are here for you. You vent all you need to.
Sorry we are too far away to help with sn** shoveling.

Hope one of the options helps.

Yeah, AWM should have a snow blower w/ that 500 ft drive!!!! :) She could have it done in a snap!!!

Best of luck at the Dr! Hope DH has an easy recovery time!

Vent away! That's what we are here for! Good luck at the Dr's and keep us updated.

Good thoughts to you and your DH. Unfortunately, everyone I know that had disc problems has ultimately needed surgery. They tried the less invasive procedures first, and had relief for a a short period of time, and then woke up one day with even more debilitating pain than they had before. :headache:

So lots of pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for you.

Buffy! Holy cow! I'm here if you need anything! Prayers and pixiedust: to all of you (but most especially you!).

Buffy,

Feel free to vent- we understand. Also let me know if i can help with anything at all.

Rebecca

I'm sorry to hear about all of this. I hope things go well and he is out of pain really soon.

Vent away whenever necessary!

Oh my goodness, Buffy!! Sending many prayers and pixie dust your way! Please let me know what I can do! And, just so you know, I've got one of those shovels you can use, too, just in case you and Nancy need one at the same time! ;)

Thanks guys!!! Luckily he is in relatively good health other wise. The man is sick once every 4 -5 years so knock on wood, he will get better on his own.
If we could just get him off the road, I think he will get better but the travel schedule is grueling. When we meet with the surgeon we will talk about being off the road for a bit. Which of course means no bonus checks but we can live without those for a while.

*sigh*

As for the shovels, keep them handy!! LOL

But I do have a Plow guy, not near as cute as the plow guy on Men in Trees but I get a clean driveway for $35. :thumbsup2

Who is he seeing for a back dr? I can highly recommend a back surgeon in Htfd. Did my mother's back surgery and took care of mine with an out-patient procedure when the arthritis started acting up.

I'm sure all the traveling and sitting on planes is not helping him. Let me know if there is anything I can do.
