Just for people wondering what the process is like. My wife and I were/are looking for a resell, but most of the contracts were to big(looking for 160-175 points at BCV) or stripped out till 2010 for point use. Called Disney just to see what they had to offer on Monday. Told the guide I wanted a 160 point contract with a UY of Dec-March. She gave the salespitch for AKL and then took my information and a $500 CC deposit(sounded like a "are you serious deposit") Received a call today saying that she has the points(UY Feb) and everything is approved. That was only four days She is supposed to be sending the paperwork today to sign and I should have a member number to make reservations by tonight or Monday morning(I am assuming I could not use my points till October or so in case I backed out).

I figured that we "overpaid" by about a 1000.00 or so versus resell. There is no closing cost at all so that helps to offset the extra cost for the points and you to not have to pay Main. fees for the Feb 08 points. Plus, there is enough points because we got Feb 08 points that coupled with 09 we have more than enough points for our annual May week long trip in 2009 and 2010 without borrowing it dry.

So, it is a little more expensive, but it seemed weirdly painless and stress free to buy from Disney. Just information for people who are picky about getting exactly what the want.

Congrats. Yea, you paid a little more for the value of speed, stress free, and convienience. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with resale either. Glad to see your guide wasn't too pushy with AKV.

There is only about a $10/pt. savings on average from resales of BCV vs. retail via Disney. Considering closing costs, and prorated MF's that Disney absorbs (unless this is your first contract, then you will pay closing), and that you can get previous UY's points, it's not a bad deal going thru the DIS for Beach Club. However, the deals right now are BWV and VWL resale. There's at least a $20pt. or more difference in resale plus you can negotiate the closing/MF's with the seller.

Hi, Thanks for posting this info!! We would like to purchase some additional points at BCV in the near future and will probably go thru Disney also. Joan

So riddle me this. Do you have points for 08 or no? Also if this is from that contract which it could be, oes Disney just use some of there bag of points they own from 09 to replace those already striped points.
Yes Disney made money, but if I read this right, they have to give back 160 points for 09 plus if you get 08 points that as well. The way I look at it, for the 1600 more you paid, you get to go soon, and not in 2010.

I am trying to learn, and by no means no all. Do I make sense?:confused3

The op received 160 points for 08 that he can bank. ( Resales from Disney can be banked outside the banking deadline, BTW ) He will also get 160 more points this February on.

When I bought HHI points in May with my June UY, I got 07 points I banked plus 08s a month later.

We have been waiting for two months for a 100 point add on with a June UY for BCV. Use Year has a lot to do with how long the wait is.

Yes, we received the points for Feb 08 and will get more Feb 09. That is why to a certain extent we choose the Disney route. We go every May and by Banking and borrowing we can go 2009,2010,2011,2012 by banking and borrowing in a two bedroom for 6 nights(We get in the late afternoon on a weeekend usually so we will just get a cheap room somewhere rather than spend 72 points for the 7th night). In 2013 we will add on or probably buy another 160 points for another resort. So for us it became almost cheaper to buy exactly what we wanted from Disney because we wanted points to use now and there is no closing cost and we did not have to pay the maint. fees for the entire Feb 08 points. We just have to pay the fees for 3 months.

We are almost there too.
After reading this post I called my Guide. We have been on the BCV waiting list for 7 weeks and I was getting anxious. I have been watching the resale market as well, but there was nothing perfect there or they went 10 minutes (literally) after being posted. Most of the resales are pretty stripped of points, some as far out as 2010. I don't want to wait that long to go "Home".
Long story short, since I called and asked there are 200 points available. This includes 2008 points now available. It is an April UY. Since we almost always go in October, I hope this UY is okay?
I am so excited, I can barely contain myself. I am glad I saw this post.

I am sure everyone has had good and bad exp.doing resell and Disney themselves, but it really went scary easy/good for us so hopefully it is the same for you. We also did not want the stripped down pieces that are left over and BCV at this point in time seems popular. For us anyhow, we have not even received the paperwork from Disney(supposed to be today from Fed-ex) but we already have a member number and have already booked our trip for May and our being treated as a full fledge "member." I would think UY April would be fine using the 10 month rule people use, but there is a lot smarter people than me on that.
