UPDATE ** OMGosh -- the dog I'm dogsitting just ate my

That is too funny!

My dog ate 1/2 a month's worth of birth control pills...yes, he popped them out of the container- My mother said that she told him to destroy them so that I would have babies sooner:eek: She was just joking though!

about 5 anti-anxiety pills- He was REALLY mellow after that!:hippie:

and a few decongestion pills

I called the vet all three times, and the only one he went in for was the decongestion pills.(I was actually on vacation and he was with my mother for this one!)

i hope all went well with the dog. They will eat anything. My dog used to eat feminine products and now likes to eat lightbulbs. She has gotten to them 3 times over the years. By the way if your dog eats glass feed them a loaf of bread. That was the vets advice and she is still with me so it must work.

Well, the little guy is going to be just fine. I spoke with the vet and she said that with the Nuvaring since it is a slow release birth control that he should be fine. Especially since he only ate a little bit of it. And she did make me feel better by telling me that no, it isn't the most embarrasing dog story. The worst one that she's encountered was the 50+ woman bringing her little schnauser in because he ate a used condom. She made the doggie puke it up. YUUUUCCCCKKK!!!

Thanks Tag Fairy <<<<really, is that gonna be attached to my name forever???>>>>

Oh my goodness, all of you totally crack me up. Thank you for the belly laughs this morning! :lmao:

Are you saying there is a $50 charge to call animal poison control??? Seems to me like that would pretty much keep most people from using the service! I love my dog, but no WAY am I going to pay $50 to find out if eating my ficus leaves was a bad idea for him. Not happening!

My dog's life is worth $50. :confused3

If it's 1 in the morning on a Sunday and you need to make a decision to drive an hour to the 24/hr vet (which costs $125 to walk in the door) or make the dog vomit, or simply give the dog a couple of slices of bread and go to bed, $50 seems reasonable to me.

For routine things you can usually find the information on line. Birth control devices... not so much!

I'm glad the dog is going to be fine. Are you going to tell the owner or just keep it between you, the vet, the dog and all of us here?

What if he grows some ****s? Lucy you'll have some 'splainin to do

Since the dog will be fine...this is one of the funniest threads ever! What is it with dogs and feminine products?

FYI - most people poison control centers will answer dog questions. I sat on hold for about 10 minutes with the ASPCA center once and decided I wasn't going to pay $50 for that privilege. So I called the regular poison control center and they helped me. Even called back the next day to make sure Malley was OK. Oh, and 1/2 a bottle of Flintstone chewables won't kill a 45 lb. husky.

The worst one that she's encountered was the 50+ woman bringing her little schnauser in because he ate a used condom. She made the doggie puke it up. YUUUUCCCCKKK!!!

:scared1: :rotfl:

Glad to hear the dog will be fine.

I'm glad the dog is going to be okay, and that she put you at ease (I hope anyhow) by letting you know she's heard more embarrassing stories.

As for the doggie poison control line, I'm pretty sure my dog's life is worth $50 to me too, but a phone call isn't! I honestly think that charge is a deterent to people using the service, but maybe I'm the only bad dog owner in the world. I'd hope to heaven I could get info elsewhere. Fortunately we have doggie ERs here and they will answer questions without making you come in if it isn't necessary.

Everything from licking up dog pee, to licking a dead frog, to eating potting soil, my oldest has been there done that.

I have an older shepherd. He loves to go down in the garden with us and putter around. A week or so ago he was sick on my bedroom floor, and guess what I was cleaning up? Rocks, dirt, sticks.... Weirdo.
