Thanks to everyone who said prayers for me, I have great news!!! I went into work today and talked to the evil doer that fired me and he said he will be paying me my $5,000 bonus!!!!
I will be getting it in my next check May 10th! Although I am still going to be unemployed, at least I am getting my money, which will help big, so we can still go on our trip.

Your prayers really helped and I truly appreciate it!

Thanks again everyone!!!!!!

Unexpectedly and unjustly, my boss terminated me yesterday, and though he won't admit it, I think it was because I stuck up for a co-worker, who he had terminated about 5 minutes before. Mostly because I was the main income producer of the Y with an exemplary employment record. Unfortunately I am in an at will state and my boss can fire me just because he feels like it.

I work for a non profit (YMCA) and ever since we got a new director three years ago, the organization has turned from a wonderful, Christian values oriented place, to a cut throat, horrible place to work. I worked there for nearly 8 years.

My Disney trip is already booked and I have decided to go on my trip anyway--even though I am uncertain of my future so far. It is scary, but I have already paid airfare (non-refundable) and was so looking forward to this trip because we couldn't go last year. I also feel like if I cancel my trip, my devil boss has won.

I ask for your prayers, one that the Lord helps to open another door for me as asoon as possible and also the Y owes me $5,000 for a bonus agreement I had with them for writing grants. It was supposed to be paid to me when the Y received at least $50K in grant funds, well so far they received over $101,000 and so far have not paid me my bonus, which is partly my trip money. Please pray that the Y does the right thing and pays me what is due me. I only get $5,000, but for the next 4 years they will be getting close to $900,000.

Thanks guys, I believe in the power of strength in numbers when praying! ::yes:::Pinkbounc :grouphug:

Wow, big hug  to you!

I hope everything goes well with you and you get your money. I hope you are able to go on that trip as well. You may just need it! Take care and I hope you find another job soon!

My prayers are with you, Hulabird....the Lord will provide you with a better, more rewarding job, you'll see!

Lots of prayers and PD to you and your family! Your outlook is good, so keep your spirits up! You're going to Disney, and I just know you'll find an even better job!

My prayers are with you. And don't worry, the Lord will truly provide for you. I got laid off from my job last year, a job I had for a very long time (didn't ever think I would work anywhere else). Well, six months later, I found the most unbelievable job with a very wonderful boss. I had just said today, I would never for anything go back to my former job.

Prayer is very powerful, and I will keep you in my heart. My prayers are definitely with you. Good luck. :D

You guys don't know how much it means to read your posts. I posted because I have seen how great you all are inpulling together to help others.

I have been trying to keep positive, but I admit, I am alittle depressed and feel like I was used. God has always come through for me, and I know He will again, it is just hard when you don't know what to do.

Some good news, I am working on a BS degree in law and I have access to case law for my state and from cases I have seen similar to mine, the Y HAS to pay me or I can sue them and not just for the $5,000, but even more!

I hope it doesn't come to that. It makes me feel bad that I worked all those years, sometimes even for free, and definitely well underpaid, and that this company professing a Christian mission would try and cheat me. A lesson well learned.

My prayers are with you. I was in the same boat a few months ago, I had been with my employer for 23 years and they were closing the plant. I was devastated. But at the last moment, from the grace of God, my prayers were answered and I was reinstated with the same company, same pay and same senority! God is good!! I, like you, had a trip planned to Disney, and my DH had second thoughts about going, but I felt we really needed it and our plans were to go on. We knew in our hearts, the Lord would provide for us.
Just remember, when one door closes, another one opens!
I will keep you in my prayers and I hope the Y does the right thing by you.
God Bless and Take care

Goodness! Who would want to work in that environment anyway? This is just a small detour. There are bigger and better things out there for you!

Enjoy your vacation! You've earned it .

Wow, you've had some bad luck.:( I think going on that trip is the best thing you can do. Forgetting about life for awhile is necessary sometimes. Then when you get back, maybe that other door will open.

Sorry to hear about your job loss. One would think a Christian environment is the best place to work. Unfortunately, I worked in one place that proved all that wrong and then some. It was one of the worst environments I had ever seen. Don't let that taint your outlook on a future opportunity with a Christian business.

I will keep you in my prayers!

Sorry to hear about your troubles.......Good luck.
Lots of prayers and PD coming your way...........

Hang in there Hulabird, sometimes fate works in mysterious ways!

Hey, hulabird, what about freelance grant work? Find out what grants are out there and offer your services to other Y's. You could work for a percentage from home.

hulabird, you WILL do just fine, you have the spirit, and The Spirit going for you. You come across as such a kind person, too bad all this happened, but, as you said in OP, as well as several others here, doors open, better than what you left. You will fdo well, Enjoy your trip, don't look back nor second guess. it is best for you.
