I have been researching the various materials that are available (clear) and what I have found so far tonight is:

Grafix Clear Craft Plastic .007

Grafix Clear Lay Rolls - rigid PVC vinyl in .003 and .005

Clear Acetate

Mylar
-------------

Mylar is the most expensive, so I doubt I will go with that.. All of the others say they can be cut with scissors, but I'm just not sure which would be best..

Has anyone done this before? And if so, what material did you use?

I'm not able to be on the computer much these days, but when I get the chance I will pop back in to see what your suggestions are..

Thanks in advance..
C.Ann

Just a quick update to let you know I found a source for all of the above - ClearwaterColdsnow.. Every shape, size, quantity you can think of - along with some other items I never even knew existed that may come in handy.. :) The only thing I'm not crazy about is that their shipping is on the high side - so I may do a little more searching as time permits.. However, if this is the only place that I can get exactly what I'm looking for, I'll bite the bullet and pay the s&h..

Happy scrapping! :)

- I do not have an answer to your questions, but simply wanted to say that it is nice to see your post C. Ann - hope all is well with you.

Wal-mart used to sell stencil plastic in the crafting area - with the stencils, I'm not sure if they still do or not since I haven't looked at that stuff in awhile (they are always changing things)

If I knew exactly what you were trying to create, I might have some suggestions.

How are you planning on cutting these stencils? Cricut? By hand?? What are they being used for? Long-term repeated use or one-time use??

Thanks.. :) I'm not able to post much right now - today was a really rough day - but it's sweet of you to wish me well.. :)

I will be cutting these stencils/templates by hand (regular scissors for the larger areas and a very expensive pair of extremely fine, precise decoupage scissors for smaller areas, corners, perfect edges, etc).. I have already made a few small ones from some clear plastic lids I had lying around and they worked out very well, but I have many, many more I want to make and some will be so large they will take up most of a 12x12 page..

These will be long-term repeated use and the plastic/vinyl whatever either has to be totally clear or just very lightly frosted so I can see through them..

I hope that answers your questions - and I'll be back again to check for suggestions as soon as I can..

Thanks!

Good to see you on here again C. Ann. I miss your post.
