UPDATE: Based on Mel's idea, let's use this thread to keep track of SRLFRP.....Single Runners Looking For Relay Partners! If anyone is looking for a relay partner, just chime in with your name, preferred leg of the relay, and your expected 1/2 time. I can keep updated when people pair up. And don't worry...it's not a commitment to put your name down. Just means you may be interested. People will be responsible for making their own hook-ups. I will also try and keep tabs on the relay registration %.

Partners
Maura(jmasgat) Leg 1 and Mel (chimera) Leg 2
Tanya (disney_runner) Leg 1 and Kristi (Kristi1357) Leg2
Jeanne (jeanneg) & DH
Brenna (celicababi03) Leg1 and Todd (jeanigor) Leg2
Lori (Lori Stump) Leg 1 and DH
Andrea (aabird) and Nicole (NNNikkiNikNik) Leg 2

I'm still hoping my DBF will run it with me so if you get another offer, go for it but it's possible that I will be looking for a partner so if you still don't have one when I give up on DBF getting his butt in gear, I'd be happy to run with you.

We're just beginning to talk about coming down for marathon weekend. But I told DH on Saturday that if we do go, I want to do the relay. He's not interested, so I definitely need a partner. We need to firm up plans, but if you don't find anyone before we get our act together, I want a Chip or Dale too!

I'm considering the relay instead of the Donald this year, but would prefer to do leg #2.

Maybe we need a partner thread for folks looking to join up?

I am curious where the legs are broken up. Leg 2 I take it is the AK leg of the full, but I've never done the full so I'm not familiar with the path.

I've only done the full once, so grain of salt here, but the half mark was outside MK, somewhere near Poly. I'm assuming they'll set something up near there for the relay handoff. Then the first part of leg #2 is the dead stretch on Bear Island coming up to the water treatment plant before heading into AK. I've done Donald 4 or 5 times, and now with Princess the same course, I'd much prefer the second leg.

At the very least, maybe we need a Team Ohana thread for this purpose :rotfl2: When I started pleading the other day dh said, "Can't you find one of the WISH people to do the 1st Half and you do the second?"

Don't know if it's even really a possibility yet, but I'm trying to keep my mind open that I might be able to do Chip n Dale!

Like Mel, I have 4 Donalds and a Princess (ok, I think Mel has more Princesses!) under my belt, so I'm much more interested in leg # 2.

Since the marathon course no longer includes running around World Showcase in the dark at the beginning, I'd definitely want to run the second half of the relay. You get AK (including a ride on the coaster if you get there after the ride opens at 9am), DHS with the huge crowds cheering you on, World Showcase, and then the finish with more huge crowds and the race announcers. That's a lot more interesting than the first half, especially if you've run Donald the day before or in previous years.

On the idea of adding a Team Ohana thread for this, I think we should take it a step farther and have a competition between the various WISH Teams. It'd be fun to see which Team could get the most relay teams, the fastest, the most even splits of the two legs, the youngest/oldest combined age, etc. :cheer2:

Ooh, I like this idea. I wish I could go, but there's just no way this year. I'm always up for added competition!:)

I'll do either half. I'm not picky. Probably 2:30-2:45 to finish. All assuming I can get DH off his *** to commit to the trip in the first place. I'm trying, I promise!

I'm planning on doing the 1/2 AND the relay. KInda' 2/3 of a Goofy. Would really like to do the 1st 1/2, but not real picky.

My habitually non-comittal running partners up here are in the "well, kinda', sorta', maybe, we'll see, check back later" stage, so I may ditch 'em all.

My planned time for the sunday 1/2 will probably be about 2:00 - 2:15.

Hi all,
I am definately considering the relay as well. I thought about doing Goofy, but don't think I will be quite ready for that, so I would like to do the half and the relay. I am coming all the way from Canada and figure I should do as much as possible! I would like to run the 2nd 1/2 (just b/c I will be running the first the day before). I am not 100% on this, but am really thinking it's what I would like to do, so please keep me in mind.
Thanks!

Hakuna Matada is mostly Goofy this year. We have one confirmed relay team and possibly a couple other teams in the works. :thumbsup2

I'm also from Canada and considering the relay in addition to the 1/2 for almost the exact same reasons!

I can't commit right now, but I am also interested in possibly doing the relay. The only problem is that I am old, fat and slow (I walk!) so you know I'm gonna be the last one picked as a partner! My best time for a half is 3:01. My probable range is 3:00- 3:15.

I'm middle-aged, fat and slow! Jeanne, if I could commit (and you'd let me have the back half), I'd do it with you in a hot minute! I am hoping to lose enough to run the Providence in about 2:45, trust me, I am all about the finish, not the speed! :thumbsup2

Hi Jeanne! Don't worry about the time-please. I only put it in there in case there was someone who really cared. My "scientific estimate" (ok, my SWAG!) is that no one--even me --will care about time.

So, Mel and I will likely be teaming up--just haven't registered yet. My suggestion for others is to just post or PM anyone on the list to see if they're interested.

Hi!
First time poster, long time reader.:wave2:

I was hoping to find a partner for the relay too! I've completed 4 races (Half 2008, Princess 2010, Disneyland 2010, and the Full 2011) and have the Wine and Dine Half coming up as well.

I'm more than happy to do the first leg if someone else wants the second leg! I'm more of a jogger than a runner, so I'm looking at around a 3 hour finish time though, if that's OK. Any takers??:)
