March 2026 Exercise Thread - Wearin' o' the Disney Green

61 minutes today, I'm missing WDW. Not the current one, but WDW from about 2002, or maybe even 1992. Not as crowded, with paper fast passes, and workers who would make me a citrus only citrus swirl. Not to mention the birthday cake in Mickey's Toontown and the McDonald's fries in Frontierland. Ahhh, those were the days. I wouldn't want to have to give up the Guardians of the Galaxy Rollercoaster but it sure would be nice to visit The Living Seas and Sea Base Alpha again.

Have you also had the marvellous mix of sleet, snow, hail, rain and sunshine today? I haven't dared leave the house it's been that bad. And the sunshine lures you into a false sense of security that it might actually stay nice 😂
Yes all of those and totally agree the sun teases us into thinking it’s safe to go out just so the rain can soak us through 😂

20 minutes yesterday and 20 today for me, 665/700.

Congrats to luvpoohandcompany, WDW_fan_TX, Raya, myself (PollyannaMom) and the TEAM on all the great color changes today!!

Today's green Disney character is Ray, from The Princess and the Frog:

Ray is voiced by Jim Cummings (who you're probably more familiar with as the current voice of Winnie the Pooh) -
1774470973875.png

James Jonah "Jim" Cummings is a veteran American voice actor and singer, who has appeared in over 600 roles. He is known for his ability to emulate Sterling Holloway's soft, timid Pooh voice, Paul Winchell's crazy-like Tigger laugh, as well as for giving a certain gruff-sounding voice to several other characters, such as Pete. (https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Jim_Cummings)

Some Ray trivia from the Disney Wiki:
  • There are many references to Ray in the construction of Tiana's Palace. The walls of the dinner booths and the headlamps are shaped like lily pads which are symbolic of when Ray and his family helped Tiana and Prince Naveen down the bayou to Mama Odie, the table centerpieces are lit bayou flowers, which are symbolic of the time he serenaded to Naveen and Tiana's first dance, and the restaurant is mostly decorated with green and lit gold like Ray. This implies that Tiana and Naveen still greatly miss him.
  • Ray is another insect character who lacks 6 legs like most insects and is shown to have only 4 limbs like Spike the Bee, Evinrude from The Rescuers, and Zipper from Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers.
  • Jim Cummings has said in an interview that Ray is one of his favorite roles and would enjoy doing shorts starring the character. As of 2020, plans for any animated short films starring Ray are still yet to come to fruition.
  • During "Gonna Take You There", Ray says, "Alright, Lulu, let's get to it, darling!". This is actually a reference to Jim Cummings' daughter, also named Lulu.

I'm going to jump in with my own favorite, super obscure green wearing character, the Little Man of Disneyland.

The story goes that Walt invited a leprechaun, Patrick, to live in Disneyland back in 1955. They even published a golden book about him.

As a Florida kid I didn't get out to the West Coast until more than half a century later, but I'm happy to say the door to Patrick's house is still there! It's in Adventureland in the line for Indiana Jones. This isn't my picture...the one took came out blurry as fairy photos often do.

Hope I haven't stolen your thunder on this one, @PollyannaMom ! Let me know if I should delete.

I had never heard this story but I love to think there's a wee green-loving leprechaun living in Disneyland
Fairy trees and fairy rings/glens are a real thing here (especially in the countryside) and lots have little doorways like the photos. I love that I can still be pleasantly surprised by Walt Disney and learn new things even now
:goodvibes

Today's green Disney (well, acquired by Disney) characters are Yoda and Grogu (or "Baby Yoda" as I like to call him) -
1774640278080.png

Frank Oz was the voice and also controlled the puppet for Yoda in many Star Wars films. These include The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, the prequel trilogy, and the sequel trilogy. For other Star Wars shows and games, Tom Kane has often voiced Yoda. Yoda is well-known in pop culture because of his unique way of speaking and his role as a wise teacher.

In the original Star Wars movies, Yoda is shown as the teacher of Obi-Wan Kenobi. He lives alone on the swamp planet of Dagobah. He trains Luke Skywalker how to use the Force. Yoda dies at 900 years old in Return of the Jedi, but he later comes back as a Force spirit.

⏰ If you have time, check out Frank Oz on ➡️ IMDb. ⬅️

Grogu, often called "The Child" or "Baby Yoda" by fans, is a beloved character from the Star Wars universe. He appears in the Disney+ original TV show The Mandalorian. Grogu belongs to the same mysterious alien species as the wise Yoda, a famous character from the Star Wars movies.

Grogu is a small, green creature with big ears and eyes. He is very young for his species, even though he is 50 years old during the show. This is because his species ages much slower than humans. Grogu quickly became a huge hit with audiences. He turned into a popular Internet meme and a "breakout character." This means he became very famous and well-loved, even more than expected!

Grogu was first introduced in the very first episode of The Mandalorian in 2019. He was being hunted by the remains of the Galactic Empire. A bounty hunter named Din Djarin, also known as the Mandalorian, was hired to find him. Instead of turning Grogu over to the Empire, the Mandalorian decided to protect him. Their journey together forms the main story of the show. The Mandalorian becomes like an adoptive father to Grogu.

Grogu will always be Baby Yoda to me. :) He's adorable, and I love that he's also strong with the Force. +63 for me, which means I've reached my goal. Wahoo!

Raya - 629/600 - 104%
