New Pool Entry Requirement? Share Wristband Experiences by Resort!

I was at Kidani Aug 17-22. They didn’t implement wristbands or checks like they did over Memorial Day weekend. Furthermore, the magic band scanner was broken so anyone was free to walk in. Despite that, it didn’t seem busy and I found chairs at different times of the day.

thanks for your report! seems like ALK was just MDW and LDW ...glad it didn't seem busy and you were able to get chairs!!

I've been to AKL, SS, BLT, GF and walked by numerous others on visits in the last year. Band/Card gates seemed to be doing the job for the most part. I found unreasonable crowds only at one place: VGF and the Main GF pool. During a week there in May I could not find a single seat. And there was no wristbanding happening. And they were not removing towels from the many chairs where there was only a towel remaining.

Interestingly, in August I saw them removing towels from chairs where no personal items were present finally at AKV and BLT. I thanked them!

Leaving towels when people leave and not putting them in the towel drop is so rude.

Maybe if we put in surveys they need bigger pools they'd do an analysis to see if it cheaper to enforce or just build bigger pools and not enforce...
They wouldn't really need to enforce anything if people just stayed at their own resort and followed rules they usually know they're breaking. If they built bigger pools, it might just draw more rule-breakers....... Not sure how it could be cheaper anyway. Millions to rebuild a pool, might need extra staff and maintenance at a bigger pool, need more chairs and towels at a bigger pool......

Nothing wrong with monitoring reservations and providing wristbands. And even if they don't do it every day (like they do at Stormalong Bay), the threat of being asked to show your room reservation for entry probably prevents many from even making the trip from wherever they're coming from to sneak in. We actually appreciate the monitoring and the wrist bands on days we're at SAB - keeps the crowds more manageable.

Wouldn’t that cost come out of the owners pockets?

ETA: through higher dues.

The VGF and Poly pools are owned by Disney and owners play there share to use. How much of upgrades is shared, I’m not sure.

For DVC only resorts, yes, all costs are covered by dues.
