Update: Magic Key Holder Settlement Reached, Plus Rumor: Renewal for Magic Key Holders Tomorrow?

I think I'm agreeing with 2024, I'd think the 1st quarter. We're now entering the (arguably) busiest season at DLR. I'd think the last thing they'd want is a possible repeat of the 'no reservations' debacle of the holiday season right after they released the MKs.

Much better to release them during a 'slower' time of the year, when there's (hopefully) less demand for reservations.
This makes a lot of sense, but another factor might be Christmas sales? I suspect a lot of people might buy them as gifts.

Are you allowed to gift Keys though? I thought once you buy it it's tied to you and you only.

When you buy a key it’s assigned to one person but anyone can buy it for anyone. I bought my own key and keys for my two kids.

I'm surprised they haven't ever had an issue with scalpers or resellers then. They must do a really good job keeping a tight lid on the distribution.

But this is actually a good thing since my Sister knows I'm hunting for a key right now, so if I'm unable to get one when they sell again, she might be able to help and I'd just pay her back after.

Last year, we gave a gift card to be used towards tickets or a pass. When purchasing a pass, you can only use one gift card. If you have multiple gift cards, they must be combined into one. You can do this on the website or by calling. I believe the max amount that a GC can hold is still $1000.

I think when you buy it you have to 'name' the person it's going to belong to. So if I bought you and me Keys, I'd put your name on one and my name on the other at the time of the transaction. Once the transaction is complete, neither you nor I would be able to 'transfer' that Key into another name. That's how they stop scalpers.

This is how it works.

You'd want to be REALLY sure the person wanted a MK!

Did you have to wait in the queue each time you used a $1000 gift card? I want to buy 3 Enchant Keys when they go on sale, but am wondering if the hassle of having to use multiple gift cards is worth the savings when purchasing keys.

We had to renew our MK in person since online only lets you use one form of payment. Our MK were over the value of our GC so we had to use a credit card to pay for the rest. When we went in person, the cast member let us do multiple transactions. One renewal for one person with a GC and credit card, then another renewal for another person with a GC and credit card, then a third renewal. They were all separate transactions.

Now that the price hikes have been rolled out, do you think we're finally going to see a Key sale soon, possibly this month? Or do you think it's still pretty far away?
