I am in the market to get an Instant Pot and wanted to see if any Dis folks use it and what their thoughts are on it. I have watched a ton of YouTube video's on it, read a number of reviews but I wanted to ask you guys for your opinions too.
I am thinking of getting the 7 and 1 model but can't decide if I want the 6 qt. or the 8 qt.

I am replacing my Crockpot brand crockpot which I have had for 4 yrs and all of a sudden it developed a huge crack in the crock which has never been dropped. The crock pot is a 6 qt.

TIA

Following along; I've been eyeing one for a few months as well but haven't decided yay or nay...

*raises hand* Me, me! I LOVE my Instant Pot. No more guess work on steaming artichokes, they come out perfect every time. That alone is worth it, lol. I make steel cut oats in it (hot cereal mode), chili (slow cooker mode), corn on the cob and artichokes (steam mode), beef stroganoff and shredded beef and whole chickens (pressure cooker mode). There's a lot more I want to learn and do but that I can do all those things with it has made it worth the price. My family teases me about my love for kitchen gadgets but they use it a lot too. I've been collecting stuff for DD for when she moves out, went looking for a rice pot and found a mini Instant Pot. Will be perfect for a single person who is constantly busy with work and school. So, get it! Haha, they are awesome.

eta: One of the biggest advantages of this over a slow cooker is you can sauté your veggies and brown your meat in the pot instead of having to do it in a separate pan on the stove.

I will check it out. I have to go to a real bookstore to look for cookbooks for them. Trying to find a good one online has been frustrating, they don't give a list of recipes which I find very odd.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Instant Pot !!!!! We have made ribs 4 times in it now..... 35 min and they are PERFECT. We have done quite a few things in it now and I honestly would not live without it now. You will not regret it!

Do you mind posting the recipe?

I don't use mine as much as I'd like but I have done corned beef for reubens in it a bunch of times. I've also done pot roasts and whole chickens.

I've been toying with the idea of splurging on an Instant Pot too. One of my favorite food bloggers uses one in some of her recipes and that piqued by interest. If anyone is looking for recipes, the blog Budget Bytes is a great resource overall and has some Instant Pot recipes to check out.

it's too easy..... all I do is buy ribs and cut them into single ribs. We use Dreamland (from Alabama) rib rub. I just load everything into the Instant Pot for 35 min, and they are fall off the bone perfect. We put the sauce on after they come out. We had a few missteps in the beginning. The first time I made them, I put sauce in the pot. That was a HUGE mistake. Anything you cook will draw the liquid out of your food, so you want to be sure you limit how much liquid you add. So we did it a second time with only ribs and dry rub and it was PERFECT. then brush your sauce on and eat. (we heat the sauce up on the stove and then brush it on) They are the most tender ribs that we've had. Even my husband, who is "grill anything we have in the house" said that these were better than he could do on the grill. The best part is, they're just juicy and tender.... they never are dried out, even if you have leftovers the next day. and one pot cleanup!!

Thanks. I'm having some friends over this weekend and I think I'll try that. Not sure I can find that rub up here in NY but I'm sure I can find something.

What size Instant Pot do you have?

Interesting...never heard of it. But then I have a crock pot I barely use. I probably shouldn't look it up, but wonder if it might be good for my young adult kids.

I've have one, but I've only used it a few times. Need to find more recipes! I have to say, the pressure cooker setting is not really intuitive for me. I guess I need more practice!

We had one, and I used it a few times. By the time it pressurized, cooked, and then the pressure released, it took as long cooking as if I had just cooked it. I also had a lot of trouble getting it to correctly seal. I wouldn't realize it hadn't sealed until the timer went off and the food hadn't cooked, so it would double my cooking time. I ended up sending it back as it didn't save us the time I thought it would.

Hm, mine chimes when it seals and when you unseal it. It won't turn on if it's not sealed. Maybe different models? We cheat and release the pressure ourselves.

I have the 6 quart, and I don't use it a ton, but the things I do use it for I LOVE it!!
I make pasta, whole chicken, rice, chicken breasts w/salsa, beans, etc.

I have one but am still a beginner at using it. I am vegetarian but I've made rice, quinoa, sweet potatoes and steamed cauliflower in it.

My favorite thing is one pot pasta with vegan meatballs (Gardein brand) and chopped veggies. All in one pot! Only one pot to clean!

I was so excited when I got it because I had read how great it was. I bought it off Amazon and got a name brand, but it just wasn't for me. Other may have much better luck than we had with it (my husband tried it too).
