6/10/14: It's gonna be a long one! #TWSS
Helllooooooo!!!!!!
How is everyone? Doing well? Enjoying spring/almost summer? I know I am, even with some storms here and there (as long as they aren't damaging, I love a good storm).
This is going to be quite an update, so the questions above are rhetorical.
THE PLANS
They are what they are and they shall not be changed.
BAHAHAHAHAH.
This has already changed a bajillionian times and will probably change a trilltonian more times. So, I will give you the dirty deets for now and a more…er…static version closer to the trip. I think I forgot to share this previously, but all our tickets are Park Hoppers.
Friday night or Saturday: Fly to Greenville, SC. Visit with the sisters and attend the Greenville Fall Festival and perhaps celebrate my mama’s birthday there (they live in the mountains of KY…and I mean, THE MOUNTAINS) but may meet us in SC so she can see my other sisters, too. There should be some good pics from that whole mess. Those two sisters and I (I have a total of 4 sisters)…when we get together…we be crazy. We also drink profusely. So, there’s that.
Monday: Get up way early and drive (yep) to Orlando. All adult beverage consumption must cease by 6pm Sunday night. It’s about 8 hours according to Google maps. But, they haven’t been in a car with me. I will kill that time. Don’t challenge me, GPS. Actually, I have been playing with Roadtrippers – check it out if you haven’t. It’s a website and app that let you plan road trips and add in all things you want to do and see along the way and give you all needed info. Now, I was thinking about making some detours, but other than food, I don’t think we will do it. But, check out Roadtrippers fo sho.
Upon arrival, we will check into our offsite hotel for the evening. It is the Star Island Resort and Spa in Orlando. With Orbitz, we got it for $94 and it is a 4 start hotel! Score! The daily fees only add up to $10/day, as well, which is another huge score. Free wifi, free parking, etc. Their little bar onsite is supposed to be decent as well. We will lounge by the pool or maybe in the pool…but definitely near the pool. Maybe we will make some spa ressies if we feel like it. Massages for all.

Money Pit Update
Haha just kidding…sort of. We have several rooms almost completely finished (with the exception of those "little things" that seem to take forever to get done)!!!! So, here we go:
Kitchen
This is the area we are the most proud of. We are absolutely in love everything we have chose and done. There are a few items missing still (as mentioned above)...crown moulding for the top of the cabinets, backsplash, etc. But, the overall feel is there!

This photo includes our entry way, which you can see the newly stained and trimmed front door! That door was actually there when we purchased the place, and we just put on stain and trim! This kitchen is VERY close to our dream kitchen.

This kitchen island is something we are very proud of. When we bought our kitchen cabinets, we bought them at an auction. This island wasn't included - we (meaning Tim while I handed him tools) actually made this out of a 2nd lazy susan that came with the set that we had no place for. Tim designed and constructed the whole thing by himself. I, of course, LOVE the appliances. This is actually a convection oven - if you have ever used one, you KNOW WHAT I MEAN. Everything I put in there cooks perfectly. It's amazing.
This will be our little kitchen office nook. These cabinets were also part of the set and worked perfectly. We will have a small desk here and some shelving in the corner. If you can tell, my first item in the glass cabinets is a Mickey teapot set.

Living Room

The main focus of this room is obviously that fantastic fireplace. We learned from the original own that various pieces of rock that make this up are from all sorts of different places in the western US area nd Mexico. Seeing it in person is pretty impactful…many of the rocks have mica in them so there is this way awesome shimmer going on when light hits it.

This room has SO MUCH TRIM. It’s bonkers town. But, man, I cannot WAIT to decorate.
The Green Room

This room is affectionately called “The Green Room”. I am pretty sure it was supposed to be the master bedroom, but it is a big space and we are going to use it as a family room room plus office. That closet will actually be a big entertainment center. The French doors lead outside, which is where a large deck and hot tub will be (and maybe a pool someday!). Our last home had a HUGE master and it was such a waste of space. We never did get the layout right and we weren’t in there enough to justify it. So, we are taking a smaller bedroom as the master bedroom.
Tiffany Bathroom

I was inspired on Pinterest for the master bath to do a darker shade on the ceiling and the huge crown moulding (which we are obviously huge fans of anyway). I call it my Tiffany bathroom because the colors are so close to Tiffany blue. The ceilings in there are very tall, so it works. All the fixtures have a squareness about them. You might have seen some of those details in previous posts. It is a long, narrow bathroom, so it is a bit difficult to take photos of. But, I love it!
The Undone
Sounds like a stupid scary movie title, huh? We do have the hallway done and the guest room done, but you’ve seen the guest and the hallway isn’t all that exciting.
Last on the list is the laundry room, side entry, basement, guest bath and master. It does sound like quite a bit left, but we have quite a bit done in each room, they just aren’t fully completed. We are actually hoping to finish the laundry and get a ton done on the master this weekend!
I would show you halfway through photos, but they are awful and probably not worth your time, haha!
So, that is where we stand! I will have finished photos for you hopefully in a month or two, along with more trip updates!!! Wahooo!!!!!
