Math Gurus check my numbers

This year at 5 DVC resorts, 16 Christmas trees will be enjoyed by 80 families.

WDWstar, take a bow, you deserve it. :thumbsup2

Absolutely! Thank you for doing this WDWstar!

Bobbi :)

I am set to pick up our tree on Dec 2nd, and I am bringing two strands of lights for our balcony. I will be glad to put them in the tree box when we are leaving and pass them on to the rest of the families. I wasn't planning on bringing them home anyway. Thank you so much for donating the trees and all your work, it is really going to make our "home away from home" even more special.

How much do you have to donate to get to share a tree for a couple of days. We will be at SSR from jan 1st-5th. I see someone has one until Jan 2nd, can we take it from that date? Thanks very much

Getting the whole tree sharing thing takes a bit of effort and coordination, and the Super-Organizer, wdwstar, has indicated that this tree sharing program is complete. The names of all the sharers are listed on the boxes, and I think the trees are all at WDW now.

Here was a recent post on this thread from our Christmas Tree Project Manager, wdwstar.

Sorry, The Sharing a little Magic Tree pass along is Closed.
we cannot take any more names for the trees, because the trees have all been shipped down to the DVC resorts.

Please look for our thread July 1st, 2007 for next thanksgiving/christmas/new years eve. We started this thread this pass july and we closed the thread the first weekend in Nov.

thanks

Thanks for putting the lights in. It was my intention to just designate these trees for the sharing program going forward....although I'll update the ornaments at bit when I have more time and add a tree skirt. Can you take a picture to send back to me when you have it decorated? And let me know if it needs more ornaments? I didn't do a test run - just threw it all in a box. I was a bit scattered with work that week before we left for WDW. Hope it looks okay.

When someone gets the BCV #2 tree could they take a picture and post it. I want to see if we need to bring any of our own ornaments and if we need any extra lights for the balcony or an extra extension cord.

Thanks!!!

Thanks!!!

here's a link to my post about the tree.... http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=15588565&postcount=264

I have included 2 extension cords... on indoor and one outdoor... as well as balcony lights.... :-)

I mailed BCV tree #1 for wdwstar.

It didnt need another thing! :rotfl: I did put a DVC ornament from last year's Merry Mixer in with it and a snow blanket, but the lights, ornaments and tape etc were already there.

Also a box of Disney Christmas cards for anyone that wanted to send a note to loved ones. (No stamps though :wizard: )

The tree is a small fiber optic tree, no more than 2 feet, if that helps anyone planning.

Both the BWV trees #2 and #3 arrived, and we have them up along with lights for the balcony.

I saw that post before but I was not sure if all your trees had the same contents. So, we should be asking for 2 boxes that are marked BCV #2. Thanks for posting and thanks for the donation (again). I guess I can put away my extension cord and balcony lights. Yeah! Less to have to remember to pack! Less than 3 weeks! I am ready to go NOW!

Hi everyone! We got back last night from SSR. We had tree#3. It was wonderful! Everyone enjoyed having the tree in the room. Chim Chiminy, you did a great job on the tree! Thanks for sharring. We left the tree with Bell Services and they knew exactly what to do with it. They said that tree sharring was very popular.

Chrissybear,

Glad to hear you had a good time! Do you happen to have any pictures of the tree that you can post? We will get this tree on December 17th.

Thanks

mmmcq, I'm sure the tree will be great. I will definitely take pictures of it and post and send them to you. We may even pick up a few ornaments while we're there for the tree. It will be fun to let the kids each buy one and hang the ornaments. Thanks again for doing this, I'm sure it was a lot of work and I want you to know it is really appreciated. Also, did you include what we owe for shipping in the box, I want to make sure I get the right amount to you. Leaving in 9 hrs, and I'm not finished packing yet and then there is the matter of sleep. Talk to you soon.

Thank you so much! We're leaving for Florida tomorrow but we're doing the cruise first so that's why we don't get to BWV until next Thursday. Really looking forward to surprising my niece with the decorations!

Ok, Thanks Granny, There is no way I can ask the family that is done with it on Jan 2nd, if we could just use it instead of just throwing it away? I just thought I would ask :goodvibes

The trees don't get thrown away. They are set up to be returned to the donor at the end of their "run". Most of them will be recycled for next year.

At this point the trees have all been shipped and those of us who shipped them taped a list on the outside of each box designating when they would be picked up at each resort and by whom. WDWstar had to "close" the list at some point to make it possible for us to complete the lists and ship the trees in time for the first arrival at a WDW resort. I believe there were several other inquiries after the list was closed.

At the front end of this thread you can find notes from folks who have found pre-decorated trees at certain stores (Joanne's?) and have had them shipped directly to themselves. Perhaps this is an alternative?

Have a great trip to WDW during the holidays.

riatees - I first read your reply as "yesterday" and thought...don't bother replying because they've already left the building. And then I looked at the clock on my pc.....and it's tomorrow. Duh.

I saw some great ornaments - mini Mickey Ears ones at World of Disney and some at MGM - but I had spent so much money on other gifts that I had to restrain myself. If I had been smarter I would have just shipped the tree and the essentials and then decorated it at WDW. There are two different choices for lights on the tree - a fiber optic one and a regular set. I couldn't decide.......

I think I mentioned the shipping way back...either 23.63 or 26.36? I don't really care about getting reimbursed. I think it's more important to make sure the person mailing it back has enough $$$ to do so. The guy at UPS couldn't figure out how to run a prepaid shipping label and the UPS pick up was coming in 5 mins.....so I didn't get that done. I was, however, able to ship a pkg of snowglobes from the OKW general store during our stay and it arrived safe and sound yesterday. The last tree customers ought to be able to do the same. Here's hoping.

Have a great trip.

For those participating next year and shipping trees or anything else, I highly recommend Fedex Ground.

I paid less than $9 to ship the tree from Tx.

I know we all dont have the same things available and it was very generous of those that shipped trees to do so, but if you have Fedex Ground available, I can vouch for their service. :wizard:

I will most likely be shipping a box for our stay in 3 weeks, it was just too easy!

Hi liferbabe, I did check out FEDX ground, but I was late shipping the trees before our trip and wanted them to arrive when we were at OKW so I could make sure they arrived safely. It was less than $20 - but more than $10 - so I went with the "safe" option for my sanity. I'm not really concerned about getting paid back....it was my own decision to take the pricier option. I should have reported a lesser amt however - but wasn't thinking of that. Not a biggie. It was just fun doing it.
