Upcoming Nor'easter

Anyone think the upcoming storm in the northeast will affect flights? We are scheduled to fly out of Philly to Orlando at 6:15pm on Thursday.

I'm sick over this. The last two weeks have been a nightmare for us personally (sprained back, leak in the dining room ceiling, 4 days without power from Sandy, tragic, devastating death in the family, ridiculous work stress, etc). I need a vacation like you wouldn't believe!

I hope you will be okay. I know we are expecting high winds, which might cause some issues on Wednesday. Pixie dust for a safe trip! pixiedust:

The forecast right now is Wednesday night into Thursday, moving out Thursday night.

You may just miss it, and if there isn't any damage - I would definately check your airline website for updates.

It will affect flights in and out of EWR! Cloud cover can affect flights in and out of EWR. Sometimes I think someone sneezing on the Turnpike affects flights at EWR!

If the storm is what they are predicting all NYC area airports will be affected, and possibly others in New England.

Looking at the maps Philly should not be affected in a major way. Especially Thursday evening, but you still might be delayed getting out.

I'm leaving out of BDL (Hartford CT) on Thursday at 6:05 pm so I'm in the same boat.....just hoping that the storm isn't as bad and we can take off.

I was supposed to leave on Friday but thanks to JetBlue and huge schedule change we are leaving the night before so we don't lose any precious park time.

Good luck Jenny3 and enjoy your trip!! :wave2:

Keeping everything crossed we (and anyone else!) gets out and there safely! I will be sure to check Air Tran's website numerous times between now and then (and try not to obsess, lol)

Am I missing something ?? I'm from CT and watching the channel 8 I understood the storm will affect mostly the shoreline and until this morning they said the worse weather will be on wednesday. Oh please, Jet Blue already messed up my vacation canceling my early fly for next Monday and the last thing I want to deal is with delays because they need to make up for fligth cancelations.:crazy2:

Got an email from AirTran warning of possible flight delays/cancellations. They will change our flight to a later one free of charge.

I've been watching the weather and am thinking we may be okay keeping our plans, but it's so hard to say! Right now we leave Philly at 6:15pm, arrive in Orlando around 9pm. Weather says we are getting snow/rain/wind starting today (Wed) and it will be out of here by 6am with clear skies by 6pm Thursday.

I checked to see what flights were available later and the only other option is arriving late Friday afternoon. Which totally sucks for our plans as I have a business conference that day and scheduled plans that evening. So that flight doesn't work at all but it will be our only choice if we switch.

So I'm thinking I should take the chance and keep my flight...? :confused3 What would you do?

If the storm ends on Thursday morning (some light rain can persist into the afternoon) with less than 2 inches of snow, then chances are 90+ percent that the Thursday evening flights will be intact and not more than 1 hour late departing.

I would say keep your flights the same.

Thanks for the response! We don't really have much choice; are going to keep our flight and hope for the best!

I live in MA and all the stations are saying a coating to 2" for this area so I'm not worried. It will be mostly overnight tonight. Changing to rain tomorrow then ending. So I think I'll be ok.

I work in Northampton and so far it hasn't started snowing here yet. But Springfield/Holyoke has snow. Not supposed to stick to the roads.

Next Monday should be fine, I wouldn't worry. Yeah, JetBlue took my 7am non-stop to 11 am and that's why we switched to leaving on Thursday night instead. Can't lose a day at Disney!!!

It's 4:30 Wednesday and we have 1/2" here in Hackensack, NJ. We're about 10 miles west of the GWB. The snow continues to fall!

I had a flight out of Newark tonight at 7:45pm - well yesterday I found out all flights to Orlando out of Newark were cancelled for today along with the 1st 3 flights on Thursday morning. So we are now flying out Friday at 12:45 cause I would rather be safe then sorry!! And it's currently snowing so good luck everyone with flights!!

Ugh, so sad flights are being cancelled already! :( It's snowing here now in PA, still hoping its all gone by tomorrow evening

We live outside of Philly and nothing is sticking here. My mom lives 10 miles North me and the snow is sticking there.

I hope your flight goes out as planned!

Thankfully it's not sticking here now! Feeling better :) Sunshine here I come! :beach:

Keep your fingers crossed....our flight is still on for 6:05 pm tonight from BDL. Good luck to everyone else that you get out.

Finally....vacation time!!!
