Context: We are WDW peeps who recently moved to the west coast. We visited DL for one day back in June, and saw PTN and DL Forever (also, most of the major DL attractions that we wanted to be sure to get.)

We've pretty much decided to get a SoCal Select AP, and will make our first visit on August 25, probably not able to visit again until Sep 22. (We live ninety minutes away, so we'll likely do once-a-month visits.)

I think we will plan to see PTN & DL Forever again, since they are going away.

We don't mind doing a little park hopping, but would likely spend the bulk of our day in DCA, since we've never been there.

Question: What attractions/entertainment/parades should we be sure to fit in because they are going away (either temporarily or permanently)?

They've announced that DL Forever, PtN, and WoC: Celebrate are slated to end their current runs on September 5th. That's also when the 60th Anniversary Celebration will official end, so it's possible that some of the other 60th Anniversary offerings will also end. I would guess the decorations will come down pretty quickly and the food items (e.g., bakery goods, treats, specialty drinks, etc.) will cease being made. I don't know if the new song sets introduced for the Dapper Dans and other street performers will continue or not (I hope so!). I would also guess that the characters will no longer be wearing their 60th Anniversary outfits after the Celebration ends.

At some point, but likely not until after HalloweenTime ends, Tower of Terror will close to have the GotG overlay installed. There are also rumors that Pixar Play Parade will be impacted by the ToT closure, but that rumor has been quiet for a bit now (and again might not come into play until after HalloweenTime ends).

Hyperspace Mountain will be turning into Ghost Galaxy for Halloweentime and no one knows if it will be returning, so if you want to see that then you should do that during your August trip.

Since you're WDW people this may not be as important to you, but ToT is closing in DCA at year end to get the Guardian's of the Galaxy redesign and won't re-open until summer 2017. So if you're interested in checking out DL's version before that happens, I'd definitely do it one of your trips this fall.

Ariel's Undersea Adventure is going down for a few-week refurb in September according to those in another thread here, so that might be one to ride in August if someone in your family is a fan.
