Up to 28 days?

We are now 60 days out until our next WDW trip. We rented points from Oct13-19. We just bought into DVC and our email states it will be up to 28 days until we receive our member number from Disney so at this point approx. 25 days. My question is we are wanting to extend the trip and instead of leaving on Saturday the 19th leaving Tuesday the 22nd. I have already booked our flight to Disney but still need to book our flight home. I am afraid if I wait and see if there is availability for the extra days the flights will increase. Any advice of what you would do in this situation? Thanks!

It does not usually take the full 28 days to get your membership info, but they build in a buffer. As you will read on many DVC threads, the time during F&W is an extremely popular time for DVC members and it is difficult to get rooms at this late stage, even at the larger resorts. Some are able to piece it together by stalking the member website several times a day and grabbing rooms when the open. You may end up with 1 day at 2 different resorts, but you may get lucky. You could also do a waitlist for those two days once you are registered to use the website.

I would not extend the trip and save the points for your next stay. As an owner you will see everything, stay everywhere, and do everything many times over.
