up front on monorail?

That happened one time when we asked, they said it was too hot. I'm surprised they are not air conditioned.

At WDW, the front and back are the same so that they can be driven on either end. Not sure about DL.

At DL the driver is always in the front, there is no driving from the rear. At DL the monorail only goes forward. :)

The problem, as it was said to me, is not that there is no AC, but if the power goes down there is no AC and no windows.

In October of 2010 my husband and I were on our honeymoon and had our "Just Married" buttons on and we approached the monorail and the conductor spotted us and a a small family and ushered us to the front car. It was SO AWESOME. I had NEVER been able to secure front spot in all the years I grew up in Florida and to be on our honeymoon was extra special. I admit we got quite alot of free fast passes that honeymoon with our buttons. It was quite the experience !

We rode in the front last week. There was no line and no waiting. All we did was ask. They said 4 people maximum including children. The a/c worked so well in the front that we were freezing the entire ride.

We try to catch a ride in either the front or the back at least once a year, just ask.

We got to ride this past Oct - we are so used to not being able to ride the front at WDW that we did not think about it. There was no one in the queue when we got there but once the monorail arrived there were other families there. The family behind us gave us the dirtiest looks when the CM told us we could sit in the front :rolleyes1 Loved taking photos in there!

Funny that this post is here because we only just found out by chance that this was available the last time we were at DLR. After all of these years, I never knew riding in the very front with the Conductor was an option. My kids liked it.

...and now to find that that there's an option to the ride in the back. I guess we'll be doing another thing that's new when we go back after Carsland opens. :cool1:

there has always been the possibility of riding front or rear in the Monorail since 1959. We do it just about everytime we visit...you get great views, an interesting look into how the ride is operated, and something that not everyone gets to do...like riding in the LillyBelle, or on the tender of CKH or EPR...or the wheel house of the Mark Twain.
One of those special treats that you have know to ask for to experience!;)

Does anyone know if we can bring a stroller to the front too?...folded of course. We are a party of two adults, a toddler, and a infant, but will have a double with us. Thanks!

What's this? Sorry, I'm not hip on these acronyms.
