Years ago I rode up front of the monorail at WDW, and now want to share it with my family. I heard it was still possible in Disneyland, but is that still true with the new designed monorails? I want to make sure what I read wasn't out dated.
if you get in the front at the tomorrow land station, you can do a full circuit or get off at downtown disney. If you catch a ride in the front at downtown disney, you must get off at tomorrow land. It is quite popular and we found it tricky. Someone was always there before us but it came to our last day and my ds was desperate so we waited for the people in front of us to have there turn and then we were next, we were at the downdisney station. We were about to get on but the middle age couple did the full circuit. I know they have the right to do this but they were like 50 or so and it would have been nice if they'd just done their one way trip and then made way for a child. So we waited again and hoped the next person wouldn't be doing a full circuit. The next couple, in their 60's were also doing the full circuit, we decided to hop on anyway but split up our group, I don't think the couple were happy about that. We got on but as we have 4 children we couldn't all do the trip so dh decided to wait with the other kids to try to get on next which he couldn't as someone else was doing the full circuit, so he waited again and Finally, all our kids had a ride.
You kind of have to be first in line for the monorail in order to ride up in front (I tried three times my last trip and never got it)
It is 4 pasangers only and small kids (even babies) count as one of the four. (so the family in front of me was told)
Usually the back they only open up if they need room and it is a curbed bench with a nice view I have no idea what the passenger limit is in the back
If you had waited in TL you could have done the full circuit, that's the perk you get for asking when you are in TL.I'm 40 and I love to ride in the front, age makes no difference at DL.
Well, no, you don't have to be first in line, you just have to be willing to wait.![]()
OP ask at TL, then you can chose to do the full circuit or get out in DTD. And yes, ride in the back too, the back is rarely full (we've never been turned away from riding it) and the view is still pretty amazing.![]()
This is a huge difference (for me) between DLR & WDW. At WDW, the monorail is essentially transportation, while at DLR it is essentially a ride.
How many people would fit in the back nosecone of the monorail? I think we did this years ago but it would have only been 3 people that trip; now we're up to 6!

With the last monorails there was a max. outside temp. If it was too hot outside no one but the driver 'cooked'.
