Up, down and all around...a trip we will NEVER forget - COMPLETE 1/19

Sorry you all were sooooo sick on your AK day! When we went back in May, our DD8 was ever-so-sick like you guys....and it turned out to be an incredibly yucky day for her. We ended up leaving the park before doing many of the things we wanted to do. In fact, DS11 and I made a joke after we rode EE and ate at Y&Y: "Well....we've seen the Yeti....let's just hope we don't have to see the Yak!"

On our upcoming trip, we plan to do Animal Kingdom early in the trip (perhaps the 2nd day) and hopefully we can ALL stay healthy!

By the way, I CRACKED UP at the picture of that guy on the Dinosaur ride!! TOO FUNNY!

After purchasing the two items at World of Disney, we left the insanity and walked back toward WPE. I wasn’t sure what I wanted, I was torn between the Focaccia Melts and the Chinois Chicken Salad.

I went back and forth and back and forth and finally decided on the BBQ Chicken Focaccia. Joe got……..Pepperoni Pizza! Big surprise, eh?! ;) For dessert, crème brulee for me, frozen yogurt for Joe. Henry would nibble off our meals.

When the food arrived I got this:

IMG_2700Small.jpg

It wasn’t what I was expecting at all, but was expecting a wrap type sandwich, and the CM instantly asked if I was okay with it. I was, and I’m glad I stuck with it, it was very, very good!

Joe also loved his pizza.

IMG_2699Small.jpg

After we were about finished our entrees, it was onto desserts. I had ordered crème burlee and Joe got the frozen yogurt. I went back up to the counter and got Joe’s frozen yogurt. I thought it was nice that you could just come back up later and get it, so it wouldn’t melt while we ate.

Joe hid the yogurt behind a table sign so Henry wouldn’t see it until he was done eating. When he pulled it out, Henry literally screamed. This little boy KNEW what ice cream looked like by now and was very happy to be getting some.

IMG_2701Small.jpg

The creme brulee was bigger than I expected, always a bonus!

The desserts were very good. Overall, we loved our meal at WPE and were happy that we were feeling well enough to eat almost all of it.

After dinner we went into the Christmas shop. I hunted and hunted, but didn’t find anything with a year on it.

IMG_2715Small.jpg

So cute!

Finally I asked and found a whole slew of them. I selected one and we were on our way (I have pictures of what we bought that I will include at the end of the TR). I was headed back toward the bus area when Joe re-directed me to Goofy’s. I’m so glad he remembered!

IMG_2764Small.jpg

Uh, I don't get it.

IMG_2748Small.jpg

Fun in the crazy mirror.

IMG_2769Small.jpg

These would be lovely with a cup of coffee!

Goofy’s was very fun-Joe opted for the rice krispy dipped in milk chocolate with peanut butter cups over it and then white chocolate drizzled. I did the pretzel rods. All three dipped in milk chocolate. One in Butterfinger, one in Peanut Butter Cups and the other in Peanuts. Then, caramel over the Peanut Butter Cups and Peantus rod, and more milk chocolate over the Butterfinger.

Neither one of us could even take a bite, but we had fun and knew we would want them eventually when our stomachs could handle more.

When the CM rang us up, I found out the three pretzel rods do not qualify as a snack credit anymore-you only get one pretzel rod for one snack credit. All well, we just paid OOP for mine.

Up next: A late night snack we didn't enjoy!

Great TR! I haven't gotten all the way through yet, but I just wanted to post to subscribe. The photos are wonderful and your DS is adorable! :goodvibes

I am so sorry you were sick again! But, I have to say, it seemed like a really nice day at AK (minus the bathroom incidents)! I'd love to wander around the park seeing all the little details. It seems like we always allot only one day to AK, so we don't have time to slow down and take it all in. How cool that even the bathrooms are themed so well! I used them, but never took the time to notice. Well, I guess if you spend *that* much time in them, you have no choice but to notice, right? ;)

Oh - Goofy's Candy store looks AWESOME - must put it on the list for next time! :thumbsup2

After we got back to WL we walked into our room and I noticed the gift for Joe that I had ordered. It was on the little dresser in the hallway. I had ordered him a chocolate box that had the WL logo, and was filled with chocolate truffles, for our anniversary.

He was oblivious to it.

Eventually I brought it over to him and handed him it with a kiss. He looked at me dumbfounded and asked where it was and where it came from.

IMG_3001Small.jpg

IMG_3002Small.jpg

IMG_3003Small.jpg

I explained and he was really touched. He thanked me many times…and then we kinda laughed about how neither one of us even wanted any of it because of being very full and our stomachs still being a bit uneasy. Like our Goofy’s treats and turn down service chocolates, it was added to the ever growing pile of food on the table that we knew we would enjoy someday, but just couldn’t quite yet.

We also had a repeat of the towel decoration on our tub! These little towel creations brought a smile to my face every evening. :goodvibes

Henry played on the bed, and soon we put him down and repeated our time on the balcony until he was asleep routine. Our night ended shortly after, with a dose of Pepto each. We were tired and knew we had a morning ADR to make!

Up next: Boma Breakfast Baby!

I think you set a record today! :thumbsup2

I sure wish Henry and Belle could have a play date. He looks like bundles of fun.

Would you mind PMing me about the truffles? I think G might like that and we are celebrating our anniversary, as well.

You're an updating machine!!

Glad to read you're almost feeling better on the trip... but with all that candy waiting, sounds like another stomach waiting to happen!

The gift for Joe is very, very neat! Were they yummy?

Thanks for feeding all of our TR obsession with lots to read today! It's been fun!

Great updates and pictures! :goodvibes I'm so sorry that you and Joe had stomach problems.:sad1:

Holy Updates!! ;)

Even though you were feeling yucky, it's amazing how much you got done still. :goodvibes

Henry is just too cute for words!

I'm surprised about the pretzel rods, seems silly that only one is considered a snack credit!

Wow!!! What an update fix!!! You guys are real troopers. And Henry is sooo good! What a delight he must have been on the trip!

OMG. It would appear your updating machine is back in gear. Just what I need on a Friday evening after a LONG week at work. I'm going to pour a glass of wine and I'll be back to read all about it! Can't wait!! :goodvibes

All caught up! WOW! :worship:

So sorry you were sick. I have had situations where the 'flusher' was my friend. NOT fun. :sad2:

LOVE the photo you labeled "another bathroom break, mom??"

Speaking of photos.. you really got some great ones. Especially of Everest! And World of Disney!

I'm so glad Joe appreciated the chocolate surprise!

I am SO coveting the Wilderness Lodge!!!

Looking forward to hearing about DVC... :rolleyes1

Wow you are great at these TR's. Thank you so much makes me so excited about our up coming trip. Cant wait for your opinion on boma. We ate there in june.

Thank you again for the report.

I am having major Wilderness Lodge pangs. I miss it terribly. I keep thinking I am staying there in May and we aren't.

Wow lots of updates today! I am with you on Fantasmic. It is actually my least favorite of the 3 shows.

Seriously Brook, you deserve an updating award!!

I am SO sorry you and Joe were so sick. I was sick 2 days on my vacation and wouldn't have even thought about going into the parks. How in the world did you keep going?

I'm glad you felt better as the day went on!

this is my FAVORITE proverb!

Brava, Miss Brook! Great updates! :)

Yay! I just discovered your trip report today, and I'm really enjoying it! :cool1:

DH and I are staying at WL in January. Your photos are beautiful! I can't wait to get there!!! We stayed at Pop in 2006, and I know what you mean about the craziness. Eeeek!

A question... did you put in a special request for a king bed room at WL?

Looking forward to hearing about Boma breakfast! We're going there for brekkie too. I was wondering this morning the best way to get there, from WL... I'll wait and see how you did it! :thumbsup2

Oh, the stroller story! I was always worried that would happen to us! Good thing it all worked itself out!

I never really thought twice about dropping off our stroller being that I didn't ever the same one again on the entire trip! But, this coming trip, a large luggage tag of some sort will be attached! I'm soooo glad it worked itself out, what a mess that could have been.

That is great you met up with the other family and got your strollers exchanged! I always wondered when I'd see those masses of strollers outside attractions if anyone ever took someone else's. (We had ours "stolen" at Disneyland back in 1983 along with hubcaps from our car in the parking lot - never got either back. It wasn't funny then but is now.)

I was wondering - you had ADR's at Mama Melrose's but didn't go to dinner. Did you have the Fantasmic package with that ADR? Were you able to cancel the ADR in time?

I'm glad your DH got a seat close up. I have the Fantasmic package for my upcoming trip but it was going to be for my son and myself but now he's not going & I'm not on the dining plan so I'm going to cancel my Mama Melrose ADR and just head over to Fantasmic. Altho I may regret it by missing out on those reserved seats!

That is AWFUL about your stroller and hubcaps! Oh man, it's one of those "Remember the trip when..." sort of stories. Ugh.

We orginally had the Fantasmic package, but I had canceled it prior to the trip and just set up a normal ADR without the package. We just did the seperate ADR mainly because we didn't like the very early dinner time we had with the package. The seats are to the far right when you are looking at the stage, so they aren't right on, but they are decent and there was PLENTY of open bleacher space in that area. So if you want to avoid a really long wait to get a seat, or don't want to be sandwiched in there, I would suggest to keep the package.

Just wanted to say hey! I'm really enjoying reading your TR A month from today I will be at Wilderness Lodge and you are making me more and more excited to be there!

So glad to hear you are enjoying it! The WL is awesome - you will LOVE IT! I have even more pictures of it coming up soon too.

We were at Animal Kingdom to that day.
The park was sort of crowded.
We were doing a slow leisurely day and I made my dh
take the train to where-ever it goes.
We walked around back there for about 20 minutes
My dh really isn't into learning about animals.
When we left, the Dream Team was standing in the pathway
leading to the Train.
We won Fast Passes.
So it made the day even quicker and we were done with the park by 2:00
We had an ADR for Yak and Yeti at 4:45, but my dh didn't want to wait around.
I wish we would of, the food looks really good.

The parts of the park we were in at time were just packed! I could barely move sometimes. But then again, we have never gone in the summer when Disney is insane, so we don't have much to compare it to.

I want to hop on the train this coming trip and check that area out - what did you think of it?

That's so cool that you got Dream Fast Passes! I only saw the Dream Team about 4 times during the entire trip - mostly at MK. I was hoping for that night at the Castle too! ;)

The meal at Yak & Yeti was very good - Joe wants to go back there sometime so we can really enjoy the food. I've heard the CS is pretty similar too.

Great updates Brook - I'm all caught up!

Glad you got to see Fantasmic and I kind of agree with you. I don't think I'd care if I didn't see it again! But it's Lauren's "thing" so it's usually on our must-do list.

I'm glad you were accommodated with the seating too! Don't ever feel bad about using the GAC. As others have mentioned, if it helps to make sure you guys get the most out of your vacation, then you most definitely should use it!

Loved your descriptions of the WL - bringing back fond memories. And I thought the same thing about the bus sharing with the GF! We were there in June and many times our WL would pull into the GF bus stop and not be able to fit many people on. To be paying all that money to stay at that resort and then not be able to get on a bus - I'd be fuming!

Oh good, glad I'm not alone in the Fantasmic deal. :goodvibes And I'll try not to feel bad about the GAC this upcoming trip. It's such a nice deal, and really great that Joe doesn't have to go find a CM everytime to explain his situation. He HATES doing that too. I love the Disney thinks of these little things just to make the trip easier and more enjoyable for everyperson.

It's so weird about the GF having to share buses! I'm really surprised if people don't complain about that!

What a day! You guys are troopers! Pooper Troopers! Sorry, I couldn't resist! I sure hope these tummy troubles go away.

:rotfl: I love it! Yes, we were PTs that day for sure!

Wholly Smokes Brook... you were busy today!!!!

I'm sorry you guys are still sick.... booooo. I can realate to the factor about being that kind of sick, and nothing but public restrooms around. bummer.

I'm coming to the conclusion that Henry is THE PERFECT kid!! Never fusses, complains, always so cute and happy

I can't wait til Wednesdays post

Paula

Ya, I was a posting fool. ;) I had most of it written and the pictures already uploaded, so the posts were a nice "brain break" from work for a bit here and there.

It was very interesting being sick like that at Disney. Certainly something we will never, never forget!

Henry really is a VERY good baby. He is very mild mannered, and while he does have his moments (we all do!), it's usually for a very good reason. I'm often shocked at how chill he is. The last night, as we were packing up our bag he was up WAYYYYY past his bedtime and he "hit the wall" in hysterics. I knew it was time RIGHT NOW to go to bed for him. But, that with maybe a couple other very small fussy moments are about it for the entire trip. We are VERY blessed!

Sorry you all were sooooo sick on your AK day! When we went back in May, our DD8 was ever-so-sick like you guys....and it turned out to be an incredibly yucky day for her. We ended up leaving the park before doing many of the things we wanted to do. On our upcoming trip, we plan to do Animal Kingdom early in the trip (perhaps the 2nd day) and hopefully we can ALL stay healthy!

By the way, I CRACKED UP at the picture of that guy on the Dinosaur ride!! TOO FUNNY!

That is SO funny! "We've seen the Yeti, let's hope we don't see the Yak!" I love it!!!!! :rotfl2:

Thankfully Joe and I just pushed on through the day and enjoyed it anyway. We were determined to make the most of the day in the best way we could considering our circumstances.

We have a very loose schedule for our next trip, but as of right now AK is on the 1st full day. (More details on all that coming soon!) We hope we are healthy too so we can enjoy it!! I hope the same for your family!!

I laughed so hard when I saw their picture come up on Dinosaur! Joe said he was a very talkative, funny, and animated guy too. When the lights went out and the ride stopped the guy sorta flipped a bit wondering if it was supposed to do that, or if that meant "they died".

Great TR! I haven't gotten all the way through yet, but I just wanted to post to subscribe. The photos are wonderful and your DS is adorable!

Welcome! Thank you!!! I hope you enjoy it!

I am so sorry you were sick again! But, I have to say, it seemed like a really nice day at AK (minus the bathroom incidents)! I'd love to wander around the park seeing all the little details. Oh - Goofy's Candy store looks AWESOME - must put it on the list for next time!

It really was a nice day at AK despite the stomach issues and many loooooong bathroom breaks. It's such a cool park. And yes, exactly-when you spend so much time inside and outside of the AK bathrooms you really do notice some neat details! :rotfl: I forgot to mention that the woman's bathroom near the Lion King show has Hidden Mickey's in the tile work on the floor. I was in that one FOREVER and was thankful for something fun to look at. :lmao:

Goofy's is really awesome! I am sure we'll be hitting it up again! There are a TON of things in there to look at and buy. And make your own treats are so fun!

I think you set a record today!

I sure wish Henry and Belle could have a play date. He looks like bundles of fun.

Would you mind PMing me about the truffles? I think G might like that and we are celebrating our anniversary, as well.

Aw, that is sweet! I bet Henry would LOVE a play date with Belle too!! She's such a cutie. :goodvibes

I will PM you about the truffles right after I'm done posting here....the WL has a couple other options as well that I will tell you about too.

The gift for Joe was very, very yummy. We didn't dive into it until after we got home-all the truffles are now gone, but here is a play by play of our first bites of the chocolate box:

We are such dorks.

Glad to provide you (and others) a TR fix!

And no worries on all the candy building up on our table at the WL-NONE of it got eaten until we were back at home. Which was actually really nice, it was like an extra Disney treat after vacation! We are even still munching on the turn down mints!

Great updates and pictures! I'm so sorry that you and Joe had stomach problems.

Thanks...:goodvibes It sure made for an interesting day!

Holy Updates!!

Even though you were feeling yucky, it's amazing how much you got done still.

Henry is just too cute for words!

I'm surprised about the pretzel rods, seems silly that only one is considered a snack credit!

Ya, I'm really glad it wasn't a constant thing - after the bathroom breaks we felt really good for about 45 minutes or so, we'd take advantage of those times and try to take in the park.

Thank you for the compliment on my little guy. :cutie:

The whole pretzel rod snack credit thing is just silly. You can buy three for under four bucks, why are they making it 1 rod=1 SC? Makes zero sense. They are so worth the cash though. Yummmmmmm.

Wow!!! What an update fix!!! You guys are real troopers. And Henry is sooo good! What a delight he must have been on the trip!

He is a very good traveller! He enjoyed the parks so much, it was fun to watch him take it all in and do the little "Oooooh!" face all the time. And the fact that he kept getting up earlier and earlier everyday, we knew he was enjoying Disney! :thumbsup2

Glad to provide the update fix!

OMG. It would appear your updating machine is back in gear. Just what I need on a Friday evening after a LONG week at work. I'm going to pour a glass of wine and I'll be back to read all about it! Can't wait!!

:rotfl2: I went to town today! ;) I'm so glad to provide everyone the needed TR fix!

All caught up! WOW!

So sorry you were sick. I have had situations where the 'flusher' was my friend. NOT fun.

I remember asking Joe on this day (and previous days in the trip), "How am I going to write a TR about this!?!?" :rotfl: I guess it is, what it is. Fact of life, eh? I am just thankful that most of the bathrooms were desserted the entire time!

I was really pleased with my Everst pics, I think they are some of my favorites from the entire trip. The lighting was just perfect. Joe did the World of Disney one - I love how it turned out too. I will be sure to pass your compliments onto him!

The WL is awesomeeeeee! So very pretty! More pics of that coming soon too.

And yep, I zipped through this day to get to something very important that is happening next :rolleyes1 (and it ain't breakfast! ;))

Wow you are great at these TR's. Thank you so much makes me so excited about our up coming trip. Cant wait for your opinion on boma. We ate there in june.

Thank you again for the report.

Booooooommaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. (insert drooly smile)

Lots of food pics coming soon for you!

Glad you are enjoying the TR! Where are you staying on your upcoming trip?

I am having major Wilderness Lodge pangs. I miss it terribly. I keep thinking I am staying there in May and we aren't.

I hear ya on the WL withdrawl! Me too!! I look at the pics and recall our stay and :cloud9: I just keep telling myself that I felt the same way about AKL (and still do), so every Disney resort has their magic. I am sure I will have favorites, but how will I know unless I try them all? ;)

Wow lots of updates today! I am with you on Fantasmic. It is actually my least favorite of the 3 shows.

This upcoming trip I want to see Illuminations again since we missed it here in November and I can't remember a ton of it from 2006. Wishes we finally saw in November...ahhhhh, LOVED it! But that's coming up, gotta keep my mouth shut.

:goodvibes Well, I did have the pictures already uploaded (did that the other day), and I've had this part written for a while, so it was just a matter of putting it all together. It was such a nice brain break from work for a bit, and I fed many people's TR needs! :rotfl2:

We did feel better for a while after each bathroom break, so that would encourage us to keep going and enjoy the park. We also are hard headed and stubbron! :rotfl:

I thought I had taken a picture of the other proverb as well, but I don't see it in my uploads...I thought it was a neat touch from the WL to add these to the pillow-even though there were only 2 different ones!

Brava, Miss Brook! Great updates!

Thank you!

Yay! I just discovered your trip report today, and I'm really enjoying it!

Welcome!!!!! Glad to hear you are enjoying the TR.

The WL is fantastic! You guys will love it! I have more pics of it all coming up soon too. And yep, I did put in a request for the King bed. My request for my room was "Inner Courtyard, King Sized Bed" The inner courtyard is the most inner part of the hotel, if you are standing in the pool, it's the wall right in front of you. So you will get a straight out view of the lake and the pool area. Plus, it's very close the elevators which was a bonus. Our room also had a tub, which was a good thing-I forgot to request that, but we did need it for Henry's baths. I think some of the King sized rooms are handicapped - which just means no tub and a big shower instead.

Boma Breakfast. Oh my. Goodness. Lots of food pics coming up! To get there, I believe we took the bus to AK, then from there to AKL. I'll have to double check my notes too (hopefully I wrote that down!)
