Up, down and all around...a trip we will NEVER forget - COMPLETE 1/19

Great updates - your pictures of WL are Beeeeautiful!

I had to laugh about the comments of the size of your head in relation to your dinner! How did that cookie the CM gave Henry measure up?! That thing looks HUGE!!!! That makes me think - when we go in August, our group will have a little girl that will be close to 2 at that point. We sat next to her in church on Sunday and throughout the service she kept saying "COOKIE!" I bet she would flip if we got her one of those from the bakery!!

Your photopass pics are awesome!! So many fun ones and you all look great!

That is just precious that Henry was tugging at his stroller first thing in the morning. He knew it would be a fun day!

I was cracking up about Henry's castle pics -- he was so not impressed. :rotfl:

Everything from Main Street Bakery looks delicious -- my stomach is growling from looking at the French Toast Loaf. I need a big slice of that right now!

Your photopass pictures turned out soooo good! I love all of them!

I adore your photopass pictures! Especially the kissing one in front of RnRC. It's so sweet! Loved the update too. What a huge cookie! Henry sure does look adorable holding it!

Are the Mousefest dates out yet? Or are they always pretty similar? It would be great to go during that time if we could! It would be great to meet up with you too!

Yep, the mousefest dates for next year are

2009: 4 Night Wonder Cruise December 6-10; December 10-14 Land Events; December 12 MegaMouseMeet

I'll just be doing the land portion next year.

I am actually orginally from a suburb of Chicago, but my family moved to Minnesota when I was still young. I lived/grew up in Minnesota until I was 4 years out of college and then moved to NYC. I lived in Brooklyn for a time, then Manhattan, and then Queens. In all-it was only about a year and a half that I lived there but I LOVED EVERY SECOND and I miss it sooooooo much. I only moved back to Minnesota to marry Joe. (He was worth it, but I still miss the City!) We have gone back to visit each year since we've been married, but I don't know if we'll make it this year or not....we'll see! Are you from there, or just going there for school? Which school? I am guessing you love in by your avatar and siggy. :goodvibes I miss so many things about it!

I've never been out to the Midwest! I'd love to visit Chicago though. I'm hoping to get up there someday soon! That's so cool that you lived in Brooklyn for a while! What part were you in? I was born and raised here in Brooklyn. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else; after being here my whole life, I'd miss the city too much!

I love the new update! Henry's reactions to the castle were too funny  He has such gorgeous big eyes! :cutie: And your Photopass pictures came out great. All the one's of you and your DH are so cute, especially the Rock'N'Roller Coaster one! That must have been a fun photographer. I've actually never seen that Minnie photo-op before, how cool!

Those are some seriously awesome photopass pics. I love the one where you are making scared faces in front of ToT and Henry looks SO unimpressed! :lmao:

Awesome updates, Brooke! The photopass pics are terrific. We particularly enjoyed those DHS and AK pics.

Happy Holidays!

Alan

The update and photopass pics are great!!

I really loved the one at AK with Simba... Henry looks totally into playing with baby Simba!!

paula

I was amazed (and excited) that Henry, for some reason, found Joe's arm oh-so-interesting at that very moment! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Let's see, the cookie was probably TWICE the size of Henry's head! Approx. the same size as my steak. ;) I am sure that little girl would go crazy with one of those cookies! And bonus, they are taaaaaaaasty. Ours was peanut butter -yumm! (we eat it later in the TR, it's actually part of my story...)

I was really happy at the fun ones the photographers kept doing since we had done the Photopass Share-in 2006 we got about a total of 15 pictures, so this was a very nice change.

That is just precious that Henry was tugging at his stroller first thing in the morning. He knew it would be a fun day!

I couldn't believe we got more of a reaction from Spaceship Earth than we did from the Castle! Though, SE is a ball shape-something he does recognize (and love), so I guess it makes sense... maybe on his next trip he'll realize Castle=LOTS OF FUN RIDES! Hopefully Epcot will always mean fun to him too, we love that park!

I was really pleased with the Photopass pictures! I took a LOT of time editing them-cropping, borders, etc. but it was worth it!

I need a big slice of French Toast Loaf this morning too! I have to settle for normal toast though...:headache:

Aaaww! What wonderful photopass pics! you got a lot of fun ones!

I was really excited about all the fun pictures the photographers were having us do - it just makes for more interesting pictures than the standard "stand in front of the giant park icon". One I have seen a few times here on the DIS is where people stand with fists on their heads to make them look like Mickey ears-it's really cute!

I adore your photopass pictures! Especially the kissing one in front of RnRC. It's so sweet! Loved the update too. What a huge cookie! Henry sure does look adorable holding it!

Thanks Jay! That photographer in front of RnR was so much fun. I was SO confused on what he was doing with the map picture, but then we caught on and had a good time with it. He was an older man who you can tell just loved his job!

What fabulous photos!

Thank you! :goodvibes

I just told DH about these dates, he responded with "Those are the dates we want to go, right?"

"Close to, it's the Value season"

*happy dance by DH*

I think that we will be planning to go during the land portion of Mousefest as well!!! :woohoo: You have to sign up for the activites as the time gets closer, right? I have so much research to do! (Oh, darn...;))

I've never been out to the Midwest! I'd love to visit Chicago though. I'm hoping to get up there someday soon! That's so cool that you lived in Brooklyn for a while! What part were you in? I lived between Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill-right by the Brooklyn Promenade and the Fulton Mall-down by Jay Street (if you know that area). My stop was Borough Hall. I can still hear how the 2 train announced Borough Hall everytime-the automated voice would say it with a weird emphasis, the 4 train didn't do it. Not sure why! :rotfl:

Anyway, I digress....what part of Brooklyn do you live in? I have a friend that lives out toward Kings Hwy, so I am semi-familar with that area too. I LOVED Brooklyn, but the area I lived in was waaaaaaaaay too expensive for my budget! I got a great deal on a sublet for 2 months on the UWS, then out to Woodside Queens, which I just loved. Woodside was perfect.

The Midwest is nice-it's slower life, cheaper and very pretty. Lots of farmland! But, thankfully, we have our share of cities as well. While I would LOVE to move back to NYC, reality is we probably will end up in Minneapolis/St Paul. Family is here, so that makes staying in Minnesota very appealing. Thankfully we have friends out in NYC and know all the cheap places to eat, so a vacation can be done on a shoestring budget! ;)

I have only seen the Minnie photo-op a couple times before too-I was really happy to spot a photographer doing it! At first I thought he was doing the one with Stitch on the bench, but when he said it was Minnie, it was even better!

Those are some seriously awesome photopass pics. I love the one where you are making scared faces in front of ToT and Henry looks SO unimpressed! :lmao:

I LOVE that ToT one too just because of Henry's reaction! It would only be better if he were yawning. :rotfl:

Awesome updates, Brooke! The photopass pics are terrific. We particularly enjoyed those DHS and AK pics.

Happy Holidays!

Alan

Thanks Alan (and crew)! I am really pleased with how the Photopass pictures came out too. I spent a couple hours cropping and adjusting, but the end product makes it well worth the work. I am glad to have a bunch of family pictures from Henry's first trip too. :goodvibes

I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Merry Christmas Eve to you, Joe, and Henry!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And right back at you, Bubba Mouse and Junior too!

We just opened our family presents - Henry had a BALL doing it. Now he's "napping". Or at least should be. Tonight we head over to Joe's cousin's house for the "Big Family" Christmas, and then down to my Mom's for my sides. The "Little Family" Christmas (Joe's parents, sisters, etc) was on Saturday. Henry is going to be a pro at unwrapping presents by the end of this weekend. I might have some pics to share later, and I REALLY want to update and finish out our MK day today. I have oodles to do, so I'm not sure if it will happen, but I'll try!

I hope everyone has a wondeful, safe, warm, and memory filled Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(and if you don't celebreate Christmas, a wonderful holiday!!)

Merry Christmas!!

I hope you have a great time with all the festivities that are planned! We are off to church now and will get presents afterwards :goodvibes Christmas eve is the main day of christmas here in Germany.

Loved your update and the photopass pictures! I thought the one with the lion baby was so cute: Henry is really looking at the lion!

Not that I don't love and appreciate my little run down house, because I do, but I was just thinking how beautiful Wilderness Lodge is right now, and how nice it would be to be sitting in front of the fireplace, or looking off a balcony, or waiting for a boat to take us to Magic Kingdom, or....

I love my house.
I really do.
But a girl can dream, can't she?

Merry Christmas to you and yours from the Magic Camel crew!:santa:

That's too funny about the train! My friends who live down in Brooklyn Heights comment on the Borough Hall announcement on the 2 train ALL the time! I've only been on the 2 train once or twice so I never got to hear it. I'm a B train girl myself  I'm on the other side of Brooklyn, in the Marine Park/Mill Basin/Bergen Beach area. It's more residential over here with mainly private houses, there aren't any apartment buildings. Lots of trees, lawns, parks... it's like Pleasantville over here compared to other parts of Brooklyn, lol. I love it! :lovestruc

As great at NYC is, it definitely makes more sense to be where you guys are, especially with your family around. Plus the cost of living here seems to be going up almost daily. Believe it or not, it's now more expensive to live in Brooklyn than Manhattan! :headache: It's crazy! As long as you still get to visit here for a while it's gotta be nice to pack up and head back to someplace quiet. Where do you stay when you come here, in Manhattan?

And Merry Christmas!!! I hope you all have a great few days :goodvibes

Happy Holidays!

Well it took me a couple of days (and lots of eye rolls from my DH!) but I am caught up on your trip report. I have really enjoyed reading it and all the great pictures you have put up. I am leaving in 2 weeks for my trip, but I have been stuck in my house with pneumonia and your report has helped me forget about how awful I feel! So thank you for that! I also am so happy about you purchasing DVC. It is one of the best purchases I ever made and it is so nice to read about someone else being so excited about it too! I hope you have many wonderful trips and I hope you get to take that trip with your sister and her kids really soon!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!! My family has traditionally also celebrated on Christmas Eve, but in recent years has moved to Christmas Day. I wonder if it's because my parents lived in Germany for the first few years of their marriage and got used to celebrating on the 24th...hmmm...interesting!

I was thinking the SAME thing on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!! :rotfl2: I was sitting in front of the fireplace with a warm cup of cocoa. :cloud9:

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Happy Holidays!

Oh, I'm so sorry you have been sick! But, I'm glad to hear my TR has helped keep you entertained. :goodvibes The more I read and learn about DVC, the more happy I am that we took the plunge and purchased it-I haven't ever read about anyone who regretted it yet! Your trip is just around the corner, I hope you are feeling 100% by then and have a magical time!

Happy Holidays Brook to you and your family.

I'm loving your trip report and looking forward to the next one. Have you started any planning? Will you be writing a trippie? Please post a link if you do, or let us know if you have started one.

I've also been looking for Pilferk's trippie. After seeing the link I read his last one, but have been looking for the most recent one and can't find it yet. Hope he's writing one. He sounds like a great Dad.

Thanks for your entertaining report Brook.

Nora
