I know the characters from UP are at HS now and they look awesome! Does anyone know how long they will be there? We are going 6/7-6/15, which is a week after the movie comes out...will they still be there or does that stop once the movie opens??? My DD is a huge Pixar fan and the boy from UP looks like our neighbor, so we really want a pic!

Ohh! I would love to know too. That movie looks so funny! I really really hope they will be there for our trip in November!

Typically the characters stay in the Animation Building until the next new movie comes out. The next one slated for Characters is the Princess and the Frog, which comes out late in the year (dec), so I would assume they will still be there come June and through Mid November.

If they are a great success they could be utilized else where in the parks... but odds are against that happening.

I read that they'll be staying at the Animation Building now, but they didn't say how long. I'm a good 99% sure they'll still be there in June. Luck!:thumbsup2

Yesterday was the first day the UP characters were there and I agree with the person that said they will be there until the next big movie. Me and DH really wanted to meet Bolt but he was gone for good after our first day and we didn't get to meet him. The movie Bolt came out a while ago! So I'm sure the characters from UP will be there a while. We saw them in the Animation Building -- the old man and the dog was out there but I didn't see the boy. I don't know if he will be there or not?

Russell was on limited view yesterday (Sunday)... he wasn't there when I visited after lunch, but he showed up later on! My favorite is Kevin!

Disney has stated that the UP characters will be in the Animation Building "through October." But as far as I know, no firm date has been announced.

Yesterday couldn't have been the first day, because we saw them on Friday, the 15th. It was Carl (the old man), Russell (the boy), and Dug (the dog). They were all there each time we saw them. I think Dug left for a few minutes at one point, but he was back soon. I think we waited for them longer than we waited for Mickey! Sorceror Micky's line was completely empty at one point, while the UP characters had a line of about 30-40 people.

Oh okay, I didn't see them on the time sheet for Friday so I just assumed yesterday was the first day. There was a long line for them!! It's funny because the movie hasn't even come out yet!

My son is going to be so thrilled to see them! :goodvibes

He's been going nuts everytime he sees the ads on the bus stop billboards. Every few blocks he yells "look mom, the boy from UP!" :rotfl2:

Where exactly in the animation building are they? I haven't been in that building since the animators were there :rotfl2:

Does anyone have a current time schedule?

I'm guessing the "Up" characters will be around at least long enough to promote the movie's release on DVD, whenever that ends up being. Either that or they'll come back for that occasion. If the film is hugely popular, they could end being around long term like the Incredibles. Otherwise, they will probably be cycled out after the film's DVD release when the time comes to promote the next movie.

Do you think it's possible that the characters from "The Princess and the Frog" might do appearances in the Magic Kingdom? It is a traditional fairy tale with hand drawn animation, so it may be that the characters would feel more at home there than at DHS. And it would leave the Animation Building free to have characters promoting something else, either "Up" or whatever other big Disney project may come along.

I was wondering the exact same thing. This is our first trip and my DD and DW will be almost uncontrollable once I get there. Thus the need for planning! :surfweb:

After you go through the movie, you walk out into a hallway that goes towards a big, 2 floor room with different interactive kiosks and character greeting areas. The Incredibles and Frozone are on the top floor, in a little curve-shaped area. Down the stairs, the UP characters are directly in front of you with a huge, colorful set-up (very hard to miss) and Sorcerer Mickey is to the left.

the next semi-animated film is actually g-force out in july

and a reminder on how long meet the robinsons lasted (they did not make it to the DVD release as I recall)

but that's neither here nor there.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

I had no idea all that was in the animation building! :rotfl:

Haha. We didn't, either! We had always walked right on out to the exit. They also have an area upstairs where you can get instructed on drawing a Disney character, and you get to keep your drawing as a souviner. The instructions are really easy, and the paper even says "Disney's Hollywood Studios" on it :thumbsup2 There's even a place where you can record your voice to sync up with scenes in Disney movies.

We had a lot of fun in there on our trip last week. We probably spent an hour or more meeting all the characters and playing at the kiosks. Definitely don't pass it up!

Years ago, I remember you just watched the animators draw. They didn't have any of that "stuff" in the building before!! It was pretty simple. I never thought to take the kids in there, especially now since they've removed the actual animators.

I'm looking forward to exploring it now!

Thanks again! :flower3:
