I can't remember the site where you can get these calls to stop. Anyone know what it is?

Thanks.

That's the Do Not Call list.

However, the following groups are exempt:
1) Charities
2) Politicans
3) Anyone you ever did business with.

And ALL my nuisance calls are from these three groups, so the Do Not Call List is a big fail in my book.

Thank you tvguy. I had it once and completely forgot it. My calls are from people wanting me to change my electric service and a lot of charities. I guess I will sign up again and hope for the best. The rest will just have to go to my voice mail.

There is the Do Not Call Registry, but otherwise, you can contact your phone company and have the numbers blocked/restricted, you may also have to file a police report if it continues after you asked them to discontinue.

Thank you jlewisinsyr. I just registered both my land line and my cell. There are about a million different numbers. Same message, just different numbers. Hopefully this will cut down on them.

I used to answer the ones from charities and tell them I was looking for someone to donate to me. But they kept calling. Now I leave it for voice mail and they never leave a message.

We've been on the Do Not Call list since it came out, land line and cell phones. Unfortunately, they don't stop robo-calls. Or unwanted solicitors, for that matter. They just change their phone numbers frequently -- and block them too -- and keep right on calling, regardless of what you do or say. In fact, if you say the wrong thing, it can be used as a precedent allowing them to do call you legitimately.

Thank you DeaverTex. I had registered before too, but now I get 5 or 6 each day. So I registered again. Maybe this will slow them down to just one or two a week. Now I never answer the phone if I don't know the number.

:worship::worship::worship: I totally agree. FAIL. Especially now, the phone is ringing continually with those robo calls from the candidates, and there's nothing to be done about that.

Im getting a lot of phone calls from companies looking for the previous owner of the line. It was just too much as i tried to tell them this isnt ___________ person. They still call.

I get about 5 voicemails a day... the good thing is that this is my lifeline in case of emergency... so i just send all calls to voicemail. :]

I asked about what to do in this case, the phone company said only way would be to change numbers...

I think the "new" Do Not Call list update goes into effect in a few months. So you won't be seeing any decrease in calls until then, unfortunately.

When I do get a live body, I tell them that I'm tracking calls and voting for whoever calls me less. It DOES take you off some of the robo-calls. When you register to vote, you are required to give a phone number, but my registration recommended calling both major parties state offices to ask to have my phone number removed from their lists. Unfortunately, I forget to ask until it's well into the cycle. :rotfl:

I have actually called some of the numbers that show up repeatedly. Sometimes I have gotten thru to ask to be removed. One time, I kept getting calls from the same number multiple times a day and getting dead air. I called back, and it was hhgregg calling about extending a warranty on an appliance I'd bought from them, but they'didn't recognize my number' and hung up on ME! Finally, I got a live body when they called. I walked him thru all their FCC violations recommended they lose my phone number before I reported them. Never heard from them again.

Remember folks, that the Do Not Call list was only good for so many years, and that many years is up. And remember your parents! My elderly father was getting a lot of pure cold calls. I realized that his Do Not Call had expired, so I re-registered him!

Darn. These are the ones I want to stop.

Let me guess: Rachel from Cardholder Services? She cannot be stopped.

Janepod, I used to get lots of calls from Rachel but somehow she has lost my number. I haven't heard from her in ages. I'm starting to feel neglected.

The calls I get I never answer and they never leave a message. The are from the same place though. In Allentown, NJ. I never knew there was an Allentown in NJ. The only Allentown I know is in Pa. But, they call at least 5 or 6 times a day. Maybe they are political. I don't know because I don't answer anymore. I was getting calls from the diabetes foundation and how to lower my electric bills. I was also getting calls from the local firemen and police wanting donations. Now I know they are good men and need those donations, but I don't have anything to give. The way things are now, I can't afford to live in my home and I can't afford to move. Nobody is buying around here. But that is another story. I told them I can't donate and they did take me off their lists. Everyone else just keeps calling.

These calls from Allentown are the most annoying. I got two calls within a half hour tonight. Thankfully they stop at 8.

I have Verizon Fios. I love call block, it helps with some of the calls. My brother had a credit collection agency after him and they kept calling me, it got rid of them.

Thank goodness for caller ID. I'll be so glad when the political season is over.
