I originally posted this on the Disabilities Board, but got no responses, so . . . .

We're traveling with someone who is blind. I know that much of DQ is visual, but are there attractions there which she could enjoy as long as someone is with her?? I don't want to pay admission if she's just going to have to stand and wait for everyone else.

Could those of you who frequent DQ give me some idea on what she could/could not do?? I'm specifically wondering about the raft ride or the bumper cars . . . . . (By the way, she loves Buzz; I always let her "drive" . . .:D )

I am visually impaired but can function on my own with some pretty thick glasses <grin>! My kids love DQ so we've spent many hours there.

Thinking over all the attractions, they are all visually oriented. I can't think of any that would be enjoyable without some vision. The raft ride might be interesting if you can yell directions to her, but overall, I'm not sure she'd find very much enjoyable at DQ.

In addition, DQ tends to be very loud with all the noise from the games. This noise can be very disorienting for those who rely more on their hearing to identify where they are and what direction they're going.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Hello there. DH and I did DQ last fall--almost had the place to ourselves. I honestly don't think there is much for your friend there--the raft ride effect works because of the motion relating to the picture on the screen in front of you. Without it, she might become too disoriented. We did not do the Buzz Bumper Cars. Pretty much everything is of the arcade or virtual vision variety. Maybe there are some posters here who are more expert on DQ and could offer more suggestions.

Thanks for your input. She is so willing to try anything once but having never been there myself, I couldn't judge whether or not it would be enjoyable for her.

An additional thanks for mentioning the noise level; I hadn't thought about that part of it. Since she relies on her hearing so much, I'm sure that would be a real distraction for her. Even at family gatherings, it bothers her when there are many folks talking in the same room.

A sprinkle of pixie dust on you for your answers!! :sunny:
