Unused Disney Dollars??

I read on a post here that you need an original receipt to change your Disney Dollars back to regular cash. Is that true?

Our parents gave us (WAY TOO MANY) Disney Dollars and we don't have the receipt. We've already paid for the dining plan, are getting the $200 gift card, bought all our souveniers, etc., and I know we are going to have unused DDs. Like I said, they gave way too much -- although very generous!

When you pay for something with them, you will get cash back. So maybe you can bring them and just try to pay for anything you can, even a soda or something. I've given them as tips also at restaurants. Just ask your server if they mind first, I have never had any turn me down!

If you are at WDW you can change them back to "regular" money without a receipt. If you are staying onsite just take them to the front desk at the hotel and they will switch them.
If you try to change them at a Disney Store you have to have a receipt, and even then they won't be excited about doing it for you.
